I love my 2019 baby GS. It's not a 1250GS, but I wanted a small displacement ADV bike that was maneuverable and not too much effort. I almost never ride highways. It'll do 80 MPH or 130 KPH, but it's a bit buzzy over 6000 RPM, which is 60 MPH. I love the design and the appearance. The fit and finish is excellent for a bike in its price range. I paid US$4920 new out the door with a three year warranty but I bought it in late fall when they were making room for the new models. It was easy to upgrade to all LED lighting which is standard for 2021 and beyond. Larger pegs aren't a problem either with $20 cheap bolt-on platforms or $200 teplacement Pegz. The suspension is soft but this isn't a motocross bike for big jumps. It's very comfortable to ride. My only complaint? I wish the fuel tank was 22 litres instead of 11 litres.
You are providing a terrible review. You want it to be a bigger bike than it is. Why do you people do that? There are business reasons for certain decisions, marketing reasons, price point. All you are complaining about are things you can adjust. As far as the wobble is concerned that very well could be the front tire but why not contact BMW and provide an update instead of saying what you said. Just terrible.

I love mine, I replaced the stock wheels with rally raise spoke and new exhaust and windshield I have a new seat ordered. The R1250 GS is close to $30K with cases and spoke wheels hand guards. Basically you could get 2 bikes a full kit accessories and still have change for a holiday.
this GS310 gives me much more satisfaction and fun than my previous transalp and Vstrom but on the highway I regret a lack of stability of the front axle beyond 120 km/h
Idiot review... it's a basic 300 cc Bike and u expect 1000 cc BMW facilities.. guys I own BMW 1000 rr and used to have yamaha r1. In my opinion, it's best in its 300 cc class
I have a 2020 GS and i dont get that wobble at all, not even at high speed. I think its a dangerious that wobble ( i had it on a non-BMW naked bike and turns out when the replaced the fork oil/seal on my naked. The tigthened it too tight when put the suspension back causing that wobble you had). I think its your bike specific not all GS310 ( so a Quality Control issue i think ) as they might of overtightened at a maufucturer level or dealer tightened the middle, causing the wobble. I think you got a dud. But I would take it back to bmw and get that fixed by the mechanics. As that is dangerious, i would not ride a bike that did that.
Late comment. Something is wrong with his test bike. Normal 310GS is very... very stable, both on the road and off. Want off road ? Upgrade the shocks (Rally Raid Tractive) and put a fork kit in it. Other than that, it's all rider added 'comfort' stuff. Grips, handlebar height, foot pegs etc etc.
I live in Manila where traffic is horrible and roads are narrow and badly built. This is a perfect bike. It cannot go on the freeways because we have a no sub-400cc rule on the freeway rule.
Would you pay Aud19,000 for a bike that would cover your complaints/cons? What bike (approx 60% road/40% off-road) would you recommend for an Aud8,000 budget?
I wish BMW offered a G310GS Adventure version with a 5 gallon fuel tank, tubeless spoke wheels, an aluminum bash plate, engine protection bars, larger and more aggressive pegs, and fully adjustable suspension front and rear. Those upgrades would cost BMW less than $400 and I'd pay $2000 more for that bike. Bike manufacturers, not just BMW, look at their small ADV bikes as beginner bikes. They use them to get new customers on the upgrade path to their mid size and full size ADV bikes. Older riders typically have more discretionary income and are buying smaller bikes because they have trouble handling and lifting larger bikes, but I'd argue that a small ADV bike like the G310GS is better off road for all riders. Unfortunately, the marketing department doesn't want to admit this, so they won't sell full featured lightweight ADV bikes because most people wouldn't buy their more expensive larger bikes. That's why smaller ADV bikes are built to a budget and are stripped of premium features. The companies would rather sell someone their first bike, that leads to their second and third. They aren't interested in selling old riders their last bike, so they miss the opportunity to make an R1300GS Adventure profit margin on a G310GS Adventure.
I don't know why yours wobbles but I ride the crap out of mine. Fast and hard. No wobbles. For the price it's great. The mirrors and levers are chincy but what do you expect at that price point. I run 80mph on the freeway no wobble.
I would climb over that bike with a fine tooth comb to find the nits - tire quality, wear, balance (should be dynamic internal weights) front & back alignment in all axes, - I would definitely look see if a real tire upgrade will help - stock Indian tires even branded are sus. Don't just complain - dig!!! And I would probably at least see if a stabilizer / steering damper would help. after all that. Just saying for somebody.
This is a classic example of someone who expects a low powered single engined bike, at an affordable price, to be built and perform like a top of the range flagship bike and then criticises it... 🙄
It's a different BMW and that's "Beginner Minded Work".. and as you already mentioned... It's a TVS under the Bavarian badge...and its servicing it's pretty expensive as told by the Indian owners...

When you originally rode it, you thought it was the best thing since sliced bread. Now all you do is criticise it! Why should anyone take any notice of what you think?
I had 2009 Concours 14 . It had that handlebar shake when you let go of it. I hated that about it. I changed front tires, brake rotors. Nothing helped. I read lot of bikes do that. My GS1200 doesn't. May have something to do with road having a crown for water to drain. I've had more than one bike do that. The first 750 Hondas some had a death wobble at higher speeds. This would turn me away from this bike more that it being a single cylinder.
Looks like front wheel needs an alignment or balance or something. Mine doesn't wobble like that at any speed. I do agree that the suspension needs to be upgraded for anyone over 80kg.
I have one and after owned toons of bikes every top case makes the Wobble, not aerodynamic designed to be in the motorbike, you can minimize that if you stiffen and raise the rear suspension. Is a 310cc that can do allot for the price and size of engine. Try other small displacement bike so you can have a fair comparison.
You'll know what adventure bike is right for you when you get bogged by yourself. When your bogged you'd want a postie bike, on highways you'll want a 1200gs in the city a burgman etc.....

What a poor review😔 i have been ridning motorcycles for 25 years and owned over 40 motorcycles. I have a BMW G 310 GS and have never hade an issue with it, it is a 310cc and it not expensive. You get a lot o value for your money. What did you expect from a cheap motorcycle with 34hp? And my GS is not bumpy or wobbley! There are good reviews on this bike with professional riders with experience👍
Way off beam apart from comments about ergonomics which are spot on. After 1000 miles I reckon that this bike does have one or two frustrating points. Gears so close ratioed that finding neutral quickly isn't the best. Also reckon you could do with a 31" inside leg when getting on/off the bike or could get caught on a camber/poss parking up. Also vibey at 60mph. But it handles so well in corners and also super comfy across the road surfaces in UK, which are generally horrendous on back roads.
You didn’t even take it off-road. Why would you do a review of a bike when ( you said) you only had 3h to get back to Sydney? If you want the world to watch your videos, put some effort and time in to it.
Haha because it is Indian made, you are jealous... This bike is designed to cater to 75% of the world roads which has traffic jam, speed limits, potholes and many other issues which you can never imagine. You think you are more intelligent then BMW engineer and product managers who have engineered this marvellous piece...
Nothing wrong with Indian made. Indians are some of the smartest people in the world. I just mean it isn't a good bike for Australian and American roads because the speed limit is too high and the highways are endless. Imagine riding any small bike at 110km/h for hours and hours. Your whole body starts hurting. If I was in India then I'd definitely want one of these bikes.
I liked your review. Even as some can disagree how critical you should be on a first ride, I considered it valuable to alert potential buyers. I myself every time I see this bike at the dealer I admire how beautiful it really is. However, not so much pleased after a small test ride. Anyway, I would not say never, but for now I wouldn’t buy either.
If the motorcycles in your country dont give the full power, dont buy it. It feels almost ok upp to 80-90km/h. After that it is too loud and too much vibrations. It feels like a little bike trying to reach 110km/h.
That’s a Bummer Mate, almost made up my mind to upgrade to the 2020 310 GS, but will now stick with the KTM 390 AdV.. Our Export 310 GS should have been better built than what we would get in India itself, but the very nature of your trivial details are more than a eye opener.. Maybe a Test ride later I may still stick to my decision. The reason any Indian Made bike will feel bad outside of India, is the Good quality of Roads, heck your Rural roads are way better than our National Highways or Expressways even.. and that’s where this bike may be better suited; in a sense that it’s performance is quite enough for our pathetic road conditions ova here 🙂😌✌🏽
Don’t let this guys “review” sway you friend! These are fine motorbikes. Trust that BMW would NEVER EVER sell their badge to go on anything that THEY don’t certify as legit. These bikes are premium and super tight put together with the tastiest ingredients. BMW BEST
That's not the bike's fault It's probably the heavy box at the end of the bike takes off weight at the front so it wobbles Also the suspension problem is due to that only.... They should of designed a side mounted carrier's for this bike like the himalayan
I think, Indian owners like this bike whereas Aus owners might not like it. Reason being indian market has just now started accepting 300 to 600 cc bikes from usual 150 cc commuters. Our roads might not be as smooth as what Aus ppl get so they are not appreciating the shock absorption on this bike. Lastly it is a BMW which is a big thing in india. For Aus it might be a usual stuff.
I am renting a 310 GS in South Africa, at the moment. Test drove it, today. The torque is so, so low. It is a city bike. You have to work, work, work through 1,2,3 to get it to start rolling and stop rolling. Stalled it several times in 2,3 while rolling and just thought I would rejoin traffic. On the highway, keeping up with traffic at 85kmh, it takes one minute to gas it and get up to 95. It doesn't even feel like 30 hsprs. Single cylinder, revving between 6k and 10k for a lot of riding situations? Better be a tough engine. Brakes are anemic. 300mm single disk and I count 2 pistons. Is it opposed with another 2? Grab them hard is the only thing to do, and there is no modulation or feel. This is an Indian bike. Perfect for the India city market. Compare the pricing. If you think you are getting a BMW and a GS, and paying for that quality? It is just marketing. Would not take this off-road, and it wearing the GS badge is a joke. Have owned many bikes, and single/thumpers, and there is no problem getting what you pay for, and fits you. Just don't think this is worth more because it is a BMW and they put on a GS sticker.
Get in contact with BMW or ask any BMW sales person and they will in fact tell you this is a BMW bike. Also, it sounds like you suck ass at riding, maybe that’s the problem?
Great review, and consistent with other reviewers (D3Sshooter). The bike has issues with the mirrors, vibrations (to the point of causing numbness in the rider's hands over time), and let's not mention the caliper recall. There are better in-class alternatives (e.g. Honda CBR300R). And yes, I'm a Beemer fan, (R75/5 owner for 30 years), just not this one. Cheers mate!
Bike has some vibration at about 70 yes, but are you really trying to go that fast on this bike all the time? No. The caliper was as simple as taking it in to get it fixed, not a big deal at all. I am not sure what people expect out of a 300cc bike, this is meant for casual riding…..
I fail to see better how the Honda is a better option than the 310GS as the CBR300R hardly seems to be in the same class - being entirely road-biased with no off-road ability.
I'm laughing at this. 20+ years without a bike, before that, postman on a honda, and, before that into rallies, restorations etc, and, I step back into time and the usual denial of realities, and, ego trips.
You sir have no business reviewing a 300cc motorcycle. Your opinions are heavily biased and ridiculous. You stayed on the issue of front end wobble most of the ride when the bike proved you wrong on the highway. An out of balance front tire may have been the culprit. I was amazed at the performance of your ride. I am leaning toward a Honda CRF300L Rally but the BMW may be a close second. The bike has a great power, a nice sound and reasonable power for it's class. Shame on you.
I seriously think this is the first bad review of a new motorcycle I've ever seen on youtube or maybe even the internet/media in general. The brands are so established and so connected with motorcycle media at every level, that it just never seems to happen. Even when the new 1200gs came out around 2013 and there were rumors about instability and experienced english motorcycle journalist Kevin Ash died while test riding one, motorcycle media just doesn't talk about it. Any talk about it usually even gets swept off the forums.

Right?! I think a dr650 would blow the doors off that bike. Not sure why anyone would buy it except for the bmw logo...or it was the only bike for sale in some backwoods township...
When you buy one of these it should be with full awareness of what it is and what it definitely isn't...it's a $6000 motorcycle with no extras. You can definitely upgrade bits of it to get rid of some of those annoyances as they pop up but I didn't buy mine because it's a great performer. I bought it because it is similar enough to my much better bikes that I can practice new things on it, drop it, beat it up without having to worry about breaking something that costs 4.5 times as much lol
that is mostly because of the garbage Indian made engine - people should stay away from buying any bike on which the main part like engine is a low quality.
Not so sure about that but I do have a friend who has one and it’s her first bike she loves it and thrashes that thing all over the back woods in New England USA but it’s so expensive for what it is and the maintenance is very expensive no idea why they picked it except for the badge since her husband has a GS 1200 I’d rather have a Suzuki DR to thrash around on

Was it doing the wobble before getting that tank on the back ? As i don't think its the storage tank. Def QC build issue
What action cam do you have? The first seconds look so well stabilized. wow
Would you pay Aud19,000 for a bike that would
cover your complaints/cons? What bike (approx 60% road/40% off-road) would you recommend for an Aud8,000 budget?
Hands down Yamaha WR250R. Check out my latest video, best adventure bike ever. I just bought one.
@@Wanderer1 is it the video titled “Reasons I hate the WR250R?
the vibration comes from the handlebar .its mounted on rubbers .that is what you are feeling.
Cheers for the honest review, learnt a lot
box on back is high and not aerodynamic, could be taking weight off front wheel

It's a different BMW and that's "Beginner Minded Work".. and as you already mentioned... It's a TVS under the Bavarian badge...and its servicing it's pretty expensive as told by the Indian owners...

What a tool! Love my 2018 G310GS. I’ve been riding for over 30 years and sold an 800cc Suzuki to buy this and have zero regrets. Best bike I’ve ever owned. So much fun. Horrible review.

I owned a 310 it was good but for me my new RnineT is better.
Yeap, agreed.
Could the wheels be out of balance?
It's the top box causing the wobble....nothing to worry about
The wobbling is because there is a Big case on the back. Try the same Without the case. It Will not woble. Ik have the samen problem on my bike.

They need to do a 450 off this touring bike
I think the bike you road had a loose headset.
That's not a wobble problem! If it was you'd be off.
Wanderer is right folks and all of you G310GS owner's are definitely wrong. 🤣🤣🤣 I hope someday to become a specialist just like you.
BMW BEST
That's not the bike's fault
It's probably the heavy box at the end of the bike takes off weight at the front so it wobbles
Also the suspension problem is due to that only....
They should of designed a side mounted carrier's for this bike like the himalayan
someone want to talk shit about it. go learn more about bike and come back and drive it again
Any bikes front tire will wobble if you let go during deceleration
I think you have an agenda bcoz this bike built in india
Did this guy seriously compare it to a Kawasaki🤣 bro it’s a ADVENTURE bike not a racer, suit yourself but mine dose wonders on/ off road.
Exactly people are comparing g310 gs with all racing bikes, like wtf
I seriously think this is the first bad review of a new motorcycle I've ever seen on youtube or maybe even the internet/media in general. The brands are so established and so connected with motorcycle media at every level, that it just never seems to happen. Even when the new 1200gs came out around 2013 and there were rumors about instability and experienced english motorcycle journalist Kevin Ash died while test riding one, motorcycle media just doesn't talk about it. Any talk about it usually even gets swept off the forums.
I'm all about being truthful in my reviews mate.. no sponsorships here.. glad you enjoyed it.
