I F'd up the huge wreck clip and it shows WAY to soon in the race sequence so ignore that lol, also For some reason the Nelson team radios create a much quieter playback for the radio chatter on the recorder, so keep that in mind whenever I drive their cars. I’ll work on it moving forward!
I don't know if you and or your father has any input on setup. But if you do, ask them if they can check the rear end. You are a smart driver, very talented. Your dad was the same way. Have you and your dad watch the practice video. Slow it down. Watch the left rear very closely. You will see what I saw.
I think Robert & yourself needs to get that car in your shop to start measuring if the chassis is square or if there’s a bind somewhere in the suspension. I’m guessing it’s been diamond.
Your a solid driver with plenty of experience and talent hang in there. We all know you’re doing the best you can with what you to work with have keep the seat belts tight.
Nice job landon, what you need is your people setting this car up, or like one of them said bring it back to your shop and check it out, something is surely wrong with the car and not you Buddy, you have all you can do to hang on,
Keep your head up. Something will fall your way. You did what you could. You’re definitely a hell of a driver. Don’t doubt your ability with these cars, trust it.
I do if had them put the right side tires on the left side and the lefts on the right. Lol. Some "Reverse stagger “ that car needed something crazy to tame it down. 😨😨
Gaining every week. I keep thinking what you said loose in loose around loose out. Well Dad told me you have to get in 1st to get around 1st to get out 1st but. When you can't get in on A flat. Track? , you want to have a decent amount of left front toe out right front. Camber and and a stiffer left front if the right is driving faster. Middle is balance and weight known as wedge. Coming out is rear Springs and stagger. If the car strings square and the frame heights and Springs are correct all of that should work. The other thing with a flat track with old bumpy surface is shocks that do what you want.
Tell you what Landon there is a big difference between your engine sound and Dale Jr. engine sound when you took off for qualifying and when he took off.
nah. that is just basic setup. left rear is soft to help car turn on exit. he likely running a high wedge setup, probably a huge sway bar and 62% crossweight.
Why 62% way to much. You want the left real to lay down on exit. However if you are struggling to get the car off, then the car will never come off the corne.
@@tonymatteson because you are putting alot of force on two tires to compensate. this causes wear and heat issues at the benefit of 'feeling' stable, particularly with right rear. that is why high wedge setup is unrealistic in any setting over 25 laps.
@J Hart ok. However, there is 4 tires on the car. You use the right front to get into the corner, the left front to turn the car, the right rear to drive thru the center and the left rear for dive off. All 4 tires have different jobs to do. One tire or wheel can not do 2 things at once. So you never need 62% cross in a race car. If you do that, it is never going to work.
Sooo is this lateral grip issue something to do with the rearend not being square in the car or is there something bent or wore out on the suspension somewhere?
lateral grip issue is from running too much wedge. too much weight on two tires instead of four. big bars, lots of crossweight and comfortable driving with the tradeoff being duration. i bet the right rear was burnt to shit.
@@LandonHuffmanRacing very interesting! Thanks for the insight. I was live in person during the Thursday night ASA Stars race a few weeks back and you pulled out the win! You put on a great show and for my buddies and I, we all pull for you! We hope your journey takes you to the highest levels of stock car racing and beyond.
Might need to dig you up an old chassis. Hope you find the problem, buddy. I know when we ran at 5 flags in Pensacola that we had to run 5% more cross just because the track was so abrasive.
I know how this works. Watch his practice. Keep an eye on the left rear. It walks backwards. That is a rear end that's ot square to the center portion of the chassis. This causes the car to be loose on entry. Not really take a set in the middle and loose off. Ask Landon if he thinks the cat actually takes a full set?
@@LandonHuffmanRacing I gotcha. I’ve always had to personally cash flow my racing so I just assumed that operation was a pay per race. Good for you though, hopefully they get the car sorted out. If you were to buy a development ride you’d be top 3 everywhere you went.
Landon....I am not a crew chief or a qualified mechanic but the issues you describe in this video....there has to be a chassis twisted, warped something. So, I know geometry well and a chassis is all geometry. Something that needs attention is not getting it. Your 75 handles too darned good at bumpy old Hickory for Landon Huffman to be the problem. As me and the miss'us are longtime Huffman fans going back to your dad in trucks and Goodys dash now Landon fans we hope the best for you!

That rear end is way un square in that car but you did. Hell of a job hanging on to it. Literally !
hey man nice driving I think you make a good cup driver nice safe as well
I am new fan for sure
Great to see this track back open and racing again

I was at this race with my dad, we had a lot of fun and y'all put on a better show than the CUP guys!
The track is loads of fun!
Made the most out of the cards you were dealt good run it’ll come together sooner or later.
Running with Daytona 500 winners!!
That part was cool
When did you start driving for Barry Nelson?
You were up on the wheel the whole time, looked pretty physical. What do you do to stay in shape? Or are you just used to it and it’s not a big deal?

What is a basic gear ratio for a track like that. I only have dirt experience. I enjoy your channel. Thanks.
Im guessing something between a 4.22 to a 4.44 ratio.
