Max is such a class act. This sign off moment could’ve easily gone left considering that Stephen A. had him removed from the show, but as always Max kept tremendous poise and signed off gracefully. That’s a good man.. Wish him nothing but the best.

You can tell by Max's look while SAS was talking that he know's everything he said was all BS. This was a blessing in disguise for Max. He will be MUCH happier away from Screamin A. Smith, just watch the numbers decline like crazy without Max. SAS within his own egotrip think's that the high ratings were ALL him. I for one will not be watching First Take without Max...he was the only part of this show that made it bearable. SAS purposefully scheduled the surgery when he did, he was back the Monday after.

I stopped watching ESPN when it became obvious that SAS had no respect for Max. Heated debate shouldn't be confused with derision. In any other professional context, being belittled like that on a daily basis would likely qualify as workplace harassment. He is a classy person, Max. I'm not sure that other people in his shoes would've tolerated that for so long.

The crazy part is even as Stephen A continues to disrespect Max on podcasts, Max never said a word which says a lot about his character and professionalism. Even when Stephen A said it felt like he was working by himself, which is the ultimate insult because there’s preparation that goes into these type of debate shows. Hopefully he ends up in a good place and we could hear him talk boxing soon.

As a black man, I was always interested in the way max broke things down and just made the show so intellectually interesting. Don’t get me wrong SAS is good at his job but when you have a man who really can break numbers down, player efficient ratings, etc. it just makes you more interested. He was like a teacher on the show and I wanted to learn everything from him. I get tired of hearing the same stuff between SAS and perk. I liked it when Max said he’s not really working for a living. Shows a sense of humility and gratitude for the position he’s in and his profession. When you consider that most people have jobs that they either just tolerate or don’t enjoy for the sake of making ends meet, Max acknowledging that he’s in a very privileged position says a whole lot about him as a person. He’s a class act and I wish him the best.

Surgeries take time to schedule and rescheduling can take months. Stephen A. probably couldn’t get out of the surgery without messing up future plans. And for some reason I feel like the Rachel Nichols firing and Maria Taylor leaving opened a few new doors at ESPN. The whole roster at the network is being rearranged. I think Stephen A. was sincere in his comments to Max.

I enjoyed Max on the show. He brought something that they won’t find again. It won’t be the same without him. Also, after listening to Stephen A’s interview about Max leaving, the goodbye just seems so fake. I Hope Max Is successful in his new show and has higher ratings then First Take.
Max always composed himself in a great way, always had an interesting intellectual conversion. I can't say the same for Stephen A.
I got hooked on First Take because Stephen and Max complimented each other so well. With Max's departure, I dont feel like watching anymore. As much as Stephen A is one of a kind in the industry, so is Max. And now, I see that he's really the reason why I've been watching First Take all these years.

Firing Max Kellerman from First Take is a fatal mistake by ESPN. SAS wanted Max out and so the network caved. Huge mistake. The balance between SAS and Max was tremendous. Max was able to argue for the minority position when no one else would dare. Arguing that Kawhi is more clutch than Kobe was crazy and unthinkable, but Max did it, and did it well. The entertainment quality with Max on the show was incredible. It has not been the same since then, and it will never be the same again. End of an era.

I only watched this show because of Max honestly SAS doesn’t realize his decision on asking producers to remove Max will be the downfall of first take.
I'll never forget the day when Max gave Stephen A the Knicks jersey and he thought that the team is going to take KD and Zion. Best moment ever. I'm going to miss watching Max on this show every weekday.

I like that Max acknowledged how easy and fun their job is. Most people in the commentating/entertainment industry try to act like they are doing the hardest work and he’s like no i have fun ever day.

Having fun and being easy are not the same thing...his is far from easy, if it were easy everybody would be doing it. He just aknowledges that he is lucky to do what he loves and make a living out of it.

I think its far from easy. They really gotta know their stuff extensively and do their part to deliver consistent insight and arguments but he just loves it so much that to him it stops being a job.

When everyone realizes that when Max first got on the show we were familiar with SAS debate style and we resented him a little bit. But Max really showed us that SAS is bogus, has nothing to back up his takes, and gave us substance and debated with conviction. He had some wild takes but it comes with the debate game. I appreciate you Max, good luck to you.

I got emotional watching this because I remember exactly 5 years ago starting university, I was so nervous about it, I didn’t know what I got myself into, all those stressful long days, all those assignments, all the work that I was going to do. It was after my very first class that I came across first take with Max Kellerman on TH-cam! I never watched first take with skip, so to me, first take has always and will always be Stephen a and max kellerman going at it debating sports. Watching these TH-cam videos in between classes or study sessions really brought me a sense of happiness and comfort that is really hard to explain… best of luck max! Your one of my favourite analysts! I love that you admit when you are wrong unlike Stephen a. I won’t miss Stephen a and Kendrick Perkins tag teaming you Max btw. Imma miss you so much! I don’t know why I’m feeling so nostalgic… I think it’s because I feel like I fell in love with this show through such a tough period on my life. Definitely left a mark in me… best wishes always Max, first take won’t be the same without you!
I started watching a few years before max but it’s just as hard because we still have skip around so it was easy to adjust but with max moving to radio it will be harder to see him as we grown to know him.
Watch some undisputed SKIP is the GOAT.... much better than Stephen A
