  • Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, many of us have come face-to-face with the inevitability of death in a new and frightening way. As the virus swept across our world and through every aspect of our lives, many of us have been left searching for understanding and questioning where we can find real hope.
    Internationally-renowned Professor John Lennox speaks honestly in this compelling conversation with his friend Professor John Wyatt. Listen in as they both share struggles from their own experience and engage with the big questions about science, the pandemic, suffering and the case for hope in Jesus.

    Perhaps the pain and suffering in our world, is just an opportunity for us to behave as Christians : comforting and protecting the unfortunate ???
    Christianity is not a title nor a just a belief … it is how a human being chooses to live.
    May you be blessed 🙏🏼
    … and May you avail yourselves to bless others 🙏🏼💕

    It's nice to know that those who watch this and similar discussions will discover support for their faith. The sad part is the vast number of non-believers who deliberately dismiss such exposure...

    I don't want to live separate from God forever. That is
    a more unbearable thought than any suffering on earth. The older I get, the more I find myself yearning for God. The fact that the ether, where He placed me, is designed to kill me either... 1) through natural causes... or 2) through evolutionary causes... or 3) at the hands of another living thing... is hope in something greater than just this ether. God made this ether that we live in with a great purpose... to kill me one day. To put an end to my finite being. Halleluiah.

    • @HarryNicNicholas
      @HarryNicNicholas ปีที่แล้ว

      don't worry, there's no god to be separated from. why are yuou do eager to get into this imaginary afterlife? this earth not good enough for you? god created it after all. tell me, how come we're curing disease? how come we can undo the effect of the fall while god can only cure one cancer patient at a time? want a list of the diseases we;ve cured? it's quite long...

    An uplifting conversation. The writings by the man we call Luke, Luke's Gospel and the Acts of the Apostles, should be read carefully by any sceptic before coming to any conclusion about the truth of the Christian faith.

    I have so much respect for Mr. Lennox-as a man, as a Christian and as a scientist. Conversely, I have little respect for most other scientists, and absolutely none at all for poseurs like the insufferable egomaniacs Stephen Hawking and Richard Dawkins.

    Here in El Salvador the ‘tracts’ of John’s gospel used to be the tool of the missionaries. I wondered why the deepest and most philosophical of the gospels would reach a plumber or an electrician or a drug addict living on the street. It should be appealing to an intellectual but it also seems to reach the common man.

    It’s very simple! Evil is generated by sin and our free will, not God!
    Sin is the perversion of God’s good gift of free will.

      Son of God had to be lifted up- suspended between heaven and earth- for the Son of Man had to be crucified! Jesus even predicted this in John 8! Isaiah 52;13-53;12 tells of his hands/feet being pierced and resulting ultimately in His death- the just for the unjust! 2 Cor 5:21!

  • @bluegtturbo
    @bluegtturbo 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Mr Lennox is a gentleman.
    But an infinitely loving and powerful God would have no need to allow suffering... Nor assign any creature to burn forever.. And still find a way that still allowed for free will.
    Original Sin is a horrible concept.. Hell is even worse..
    What about animal suffering? Even if we can do argumentative contortions to talk away the human suffering issue, it begs the question why an animal needs to die an agonising death being stuck under a fallen tree for example...

    • @lukesalazar9283
      @lukesalazar9283 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you believe in the ensoulment of animals there is no need to argue from the suffering of animals for it is covered quite well under a general answer to the problem of evil. Now as for the problem of evil one theodicy is that of soul building and if one doesn't prefer that might I suggest Molinisms answer to the problem of evil or even it's metaphysical necessity for a creature who is free?
      As for Original Sin. I see no reason it should be considered evil or wrong. It explains much of Man's behavior and is posited on most nontheistic world views too.
      These are just a layman's case for these things. I know of many resources concerning these very topics from men much more intelligent than I if you're interested.
