    Cool, I love that you actually went in-depth and really talked about each step here. What you guys call narrow stance, I'm 100% sure that's what Bill Stoppard mostly uses. I always wondered how he managed to stop that quickly. Guess I kind of found the answer :)

      Bill does a hockey stop/power stop. But it sometimes becomes a power slide.

    Does this stop work on every surface? I always see video’s on nice and smooth surfaces.

    • @BINY_Channel
      @BINY_Channel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It does you just have to know how to approach different surfaces. For rough floors ill use the wider stance because it tends to slide more and rough floors are hard to slide on so it blances out.

      Works on any floor. Your wheel hardness and the smoothness of the floor will make it easier or harder.

    So what to do when you are going 20+mph and need to stop as fast as possible? Is this the way to go? Seems like i would die😂

    • @BINY_Channel
      @BINY_Channel  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      This isn't the best stop for stopping fast. Only 1 foot is creating friction, and the other is rolling. The power slide is an entry-level stop. Something like a magic or hockey/parallel stop is better because both feet are perpendicular (to direction your going) and sliding/creating friction. Anything going fast that tries to come to a complete stop will require some space to slide before coming to a complete stop. You should always skate within your ability and be aware of your surroundings.

    • @BINY_Channel
      @BINY_Channel  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Christine Z your right foot is either not on its inside edge or your putting to much much weight on your right foot. All the weight should be on your left (pivoting) foot and a wide exaggerated stance will promote heavier edging on your right foot. Just make sure the angle of your right skate is the same as your right leg and use a wide stance

    I just got new wheels for my inline skate and find it very hard to do the powerslide. The wheels are powerslide’s matter juice F1 and its hardness is 86A. Is it because the wheels are new or these wheels are harder to do the slide? Thanks man!

    • @BINY_Channel
      @BINY_Channel  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They're on the harder side, So they should easier to slide with. It's probably because they are new. The outer layer of new wheels (the shiny stuff) is extremely sticky and makes sliding difficult. It will eventually wear off and sliding will be much easier.

  • @fbx03
    @fbx03 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    Does this damage the wheels?

    • @celestianeon4301
      @celestianeon4301 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      wears it down more quickly but i would avoid to say it damages the wheels cause the wheels are till fine just u wear it down faster compared to u just cruising

    • @HarmonicaMustang
      @HarmonicaMustang 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Basically yes. If you rotate the wheels, you will have a V-shape in the wheel as opposed to a U-shape on new wheels. This means less grip on corners and during slides, as well as sharper and more uncontrollable leans. If you do slalom, I wouldn't recommend this technique, especially on asphalt which is sandpaper for wheels. It's a neat trick but I wouldn't use it for every stopping situation.

    I currently have a front rockered set up. I really like the agility it gives and Ideally I'd like to keep this set up whilst learning to powerslide and powerstop. My last few sessions have had limited success. I can manage some ok results when the surface is wet, but as soon as I apply my technique to a dry surface I achieve zero slide. My wheels are 84a but im considering moving to a harder wheel. Either 88a or 90a.
    What I'd like to know is - a) will my rockered set up be a big hindrance when learning to powerstop/slide? Should I move back to a standard 80mm X 4 set up?
    b) Will moving to a 90a wheel make much of a difference? And is this a smart option when considering I want to keep the front rockered set up?
    Any help is appreciated!

    • @BINY_Channel
      @BINY_Channel  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Should be easier with a rockered setup. Less wheels making contact with the ground, less grip. You don't need harder wheels. The proper edging and weight distribution is key. Hard inside edge on the sliding foot and all of your weight/balance on the rolling foot

    • @Rob-xl1yd
      @Rob-xl1yd 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BINY_Channel thanks for the reply man. I honestly don't think I could get any more edge on my sliding foot. So I must be putting too much weight on it, and not enough on my rolling foot. I'll keep at it!

  • @johannpacla2082
    @johannpacla2082 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great breakdown. Out of curiosity, why do most powerslide this way vs the 180 jump into powerslide, which recardo does at 7:16

    • @BINY_Channel
      @BINY_Channel  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jumping into the powerslide can be more difficult. If you half Mohawk and swing your leg (like we teach in the video) you have more time to get your foot into sliding position. If you jump into it, have to instantly land in the proper position for sliding or you'll get launched. Once you understand the proper positioning for slides then it's safer to 180 jump into them.
