    I think deep down we all knew it was bad , but who could say no to a free engine ..
    Looks like a nice coffee table core .
    Lighting was great this time Adi.

      I kinda knew it would be bad, but a free V8 is a free V8. Some parts might be re-used if I come across another cheap ( free) one..... I also have a suitable bit of glass for a table top!

      It does Peter.... but from water getting in.... Probably ran well when removed ...

    New cylinder sleeves but the crank journals with out seeing them I seen worst one 's plus the crank and bearings how far they out! Thank's!!👍

      Lets just say the rebuild series will continue and.... there might be a coffee table! Stay tuned!

    Gutted mate somethings just can't be saved sadly. Good video first time for 18 years I've seen a pair of heads come off a v 8.

      I kinda knew it wouldn't be good...... whats annoying is that before it got the water damage it wasn't in bad condition.... I would say it was a runner when removed!

    Have you tried turning the crank? I bet that's why it was dumped there. I always wanted to put one of these in a cortina, so similar to a Ford V6

      I have not tried turning it as one piston has corroded to a point of siezure, all caused by water getting in the inlet.... I would say when this motor was removed it was in running condition.... the cylinders are not worn, the camshaft still has its lobes and the black sludge in the valley and the heads is not that bad....suggesting it ran well..... A real shame! As for the Ford V6..... I have a 3 litre Essex V6 here for some work.... belongs to Chris of IKS Exploration.... will be more videos of it soon.

    And what would be the CR Compression Ratio be of that engine. My 1986 Range Rover classic has CR 8.13. The Speedo stopped turning at 319,00 kms but the motor still runs like a Swiss watch. I am impressed by it’s longevity.

      This engine was out of a Rover P5 , block is dated 1972 and the compression ratio is 10.5 to 1 . They are a good motor if looked after.....

    Had my worries after seeing exhaust ports, then when the intake came off saw the intake ports , ARGH

    Can you get new pistons and liners in the bad bores or rebore

      These Rover blocks have a steel liner but they are cast into the block, the worst cylinder has corroded beyond the maximum rebore limit and to machine out and sleeve wouldn't be very cost effective on a little 3.5 ..... However I might try get hold of another block etc ....

    To be fair these engines will still run even when they are very tired. Unfortunately they are not cheap to rebuild and tune.

      Sadly this one is too far gone..... it would require major machine work to the block and like you say, not cheap to rebuild...... It's a shame someone allowed it to get water in it while in storage, the actual mechanical condition didn't look too bad..... However....... the story isn't over yet........

    The rovers all seem to be low compression pistons hydraulic lifters (tappets)... I haven't yet seen someone run 9 or 10cr pistons, some roller tappets and rockers some head porting and see what the Rover would put out?

      The second motor in this series is a 1972 example that is stamped up as 10.5 to 1 comp ratio, it's on standard bore , possibly original pistons..... so the comp ratio will be up there, ideally the block wants zero decking so comp ratio will bo higher.... maybe some chamber and portwork? Possibly a better cam? Agree , most of these are low comp motors, all were hydraulic tappet from the factrory..... However.... back in the 1990's I did come across a 3.5 that had adjustable rockers arms..... it was also very clean........ Looking back with hindsight they were group 1 heads!

      I would say it's out of a 74-77 P6 , it has the sump with the centre bowl , an engine steady bar and a points distrubutor.... When I'm back at the yard will get the numbers off it.

    Well I cant Make my mind up, I'm shouting scrap it then you take another bit off and I'm not so sure! I think you have got to get it priced up before you decide the table route.

      I know what you mean.... I was gutted to see the that before it got water inside it was in resonable condition.... to a point I would say it was a runner before being 'stored' .... I do like the little 3.5's so I might see what I can find parts wise to build one up .
