Good for Mick Lynch that he didn't try to be a comedian...he warmed into the show and made some dry and funny comments but he didn't pander to the audience. Man knows who he is. Kudos.

I was at a recording recently at a show called Question Team.Richard Ayoadi came across as disinterested and at the end of the tiresome elongated recording just walked off the set without any acknowledgement to the audience.I'd never seen this behaviour before .

Mick? Sharp? He was smug and disinterested the entire time. His back and forth with Ian was super awkward. Ian kept giving him opportunities for levity and comedy, but he wouldn’t engage.
The cheating chess-master story is the most hilariously absurd story I've heard in a good while. Most bits in the news cycle are violently hilarious in this era, but this one is funny and absurd without the subtle terror that accompanies news stories usually.
Hope I’m not coming across as an “um actually” kind of person (cos it is hilarious). But I think it’s important for this dude’s reputation to mention that this is all speculation. Someone accused him and other’s came up with crazy theories of how he may have cheated. There is no proof of cheating currently, and you can’t prove a negative, so it’ll most likely never been confirmed either way. Kinda messed up that this show presented it as truth instead of an internet theory.

I did feel the anti-strike sentiment from the beeb, the editors seem to have included as many anti-union jokes as possible. I assume there were portions of criticism aimed towards owners and rail corps that ended up on the cutting room floor. I also felt there was an omission of Ian Hislop wieghing in on the affair, as he usually does once per episode give a satirical breakdown of current events, it's absence stood out to me. Finally, Mick Lynch as a savvy, intelligent, outspoken general secretary of union rail, who himself has a good sense of humour; Recieves little airtime. I feel like any direct comments from him were not used. The editing of this episode seems to be a political choice.
I have known about that tradition since a little girl, but most people, even bee people, look blank when I talk about it. Very important for funerals, but also births and marriages. All important family happenings. It is lovely that that tradition is respected.
A lesson in how to misread the public and the audience. Ayoade’s attempts to have a go at Mick Lynch were ill advised, very poorly attempted and completely backfired. Even Ian Hislop’s expression showed how cringe-worthy some of the snide remarks aimed at Mick Lynch were.
Every time it cut to Ian it messed with my eyes and I thought my monitor was showing ghosting because his head would always be just out of line with the head on the board behind him! 😀
I wish Richard Ayoade was offered the chair of HIGNFY permanently. I love him on everything he does.
