- Join us for a ride on the stunning private railcar "Kitchi Gamma Club" behind the Nickel Plate Road Steam Engine #765
@fortwaynerailroad has been running excursions this year on the Indiana Northeastern Railroad between Pleasant Lake, IN and Hillsdale, MI, with their steam schedule concluding with the Fall Colors Steam Special Oct. 19 & 20, 2024!
First class service aboard the Kitchi Gammi Club included drinks, a French toast breakfast, and charcuterie box for snacks! Our car was the closest to the locomotive, with only the FWRHS Tool Car and Auxiliary Tender between our seats and the engine!
The ride back from Hillsdale to Pleasant Lake also included a phenomenal Photo Run-By! These were common place on steam excursions across the US until the 90's or early 2000's. Kudos to Fort Wayne and the INR for including the Ru-By! It's a great opportunity for passengers to get a view that's not possible from their seats on the train!
Those are the sights & sound’s of WW2 era, soldiers went off to war & for the ones that came back.
and when the country took pride in the machines built by its craftsmen… no computers, no smart phones

Great video! I rode in one of the old circus elephant cars that day. I stayed on during the runby and was waving at 14:53. Great experience all around.
