- Berkshire Through The Bluegrass documents NKP 765 operating excursions for the Southern Railroad In the fall of 1982. 765 was leased to the Southern to fill in for recently restored C&O Kanawha 2716 (which was used extensively by the Southern between 1981 & 1982 until the locomotive was pulled from service, due to firebox problems.) & pulled 22 trips for the Southern Steam Program. For those interested in learning more about 765's time in the Southern Steam Program, please consider watching the Southern Steam Program Documentary (also on the channel):
• The Story Of The South...
This show was the 1st show produced by Lasting Impressions, a video company that operated out of Louisville, Kentucky that produced railroad videos from 1982 to 1991. Most if not all of the Lasting Impressions shows are lost with only 12 having been found up to this point in Time. Nickel Plated Productions does not lay claim to the ownership of this program or its copyright. Ownership/copyright belongs to Lasting Impressions. This has been uploaded in an effort to preserve its historical contents.
0:48 RIP Bill. Your attribution to steam locomotives will never be erased by the cutters torch
This was 765's first big test after being restored to steam. she more than lived up to expectations.
The PRR K4 3 Chime on 765 reminds of 1361 and LIRR 39!
1982 was the year Southern merged with Norfolk and Western to form Norfolk Southern Corp. In 1998-1999 they took over part of Conrail's lines in the north. 765 ran on NS between 2012-2015 for 21st Century Steam. 2013-2015 it pulled public excursions on NS. I rode two of them in PA in May 2013 and Aug 2015.
Finally!, one of my favorite train videos is finally upload!
Do you have western maryland scenic railroad video of 734
Highball NKP 765🚂🚟🚃🚃🚟🚟🔥💯
Is that Les Jarett’s voice?
No, the Narrator of this and all Lasting Impressions videos is either Ken Durham or Ron Durham of Lasting Impressions
The Polar Express's cousin
That was actually 1225 although it did doublehead with 765
@@Railhog2102 i know I meant 765 is 1225's cousin
@@rogerlollar4325Nope, The berkshires are entirely different as far as i know, 1225 is Pere Marquette, while 765 is Nickel Plate
@@SteamIsntKing The Erie's, C&O's, PM's, and NKP's 2-8-4's all share the exact same base mechanical design across the board, with slight differences and tweaks that make them ever so slightly different in both look and performance figures from each other. Such is the joy of the Advisory Mechanical Committee.
So yes, one can argue that 765, 1225, and 2716 are the steam loco equivalent to a trio of human cousins.
@@SteamIsntKing they have similar designs and they have the same manufacturer
