These horrible "European" episodes of Season 8 are one of the reasons why there was no Season 9. The writers had run out of typical plots, some of which had been run twice even. Then, the studio fire of 1970 which damaged much of the Stevens' house interior sets, so they needed scripts which could be filmed elsewhere. Unfortunately, some of what they came up with was really bad.
