From Season 4, Episode 20 'If They Never Met' - During a fight, Darrin says that sometimes he wishes that he and Samantha had never met and Endora grants his wish. Samantha finds him more successful and about to marry his old girlfriend Sheila.

The funny thing is Agnes Moorehead and Dick York actually really liked each other.
Agnes moorehead adored Dick York.
And helped him around the set when his back problems became more severe.
@@humps678 I read Charles Tranberg's book on Agnes and there was no anecdote about her helping York in that way.
She was fond of him on the show, but it ended after that.
So sad that they are all gone now. But we have these priceless films!!! May they all RIP. And, thank you!!

I finally get to see the Black Dress on Samantha. I love when she's flying with her mother Endora, who seems to be such a loving and caring mom. The color of the sky is magical. This is one of my favorite episodes.

@@sisterearthful Sometimes, I get the impression that Endora is actually a tad jealous, her little girl isn't all hers anymore. Endora and Sam have obviously always been very close, but now she's married and Endora isn't dealing with it as well as she might.

I thought it was the fact that her daughter was with a man who was oppressive to her. Darrin had a strong hate for witchcraft and witches and that’s what Sam was. This means that on some level he hates a part of Sam herself that’s what she spends her time trying to get her to realize

Endora was more powerful with her witchcraft but Samantha was the real power and balance with her wit and she outsmarted Endora everytime. I love their creative dynamic.

Remember, TV shows in the 60s didn't cost a million dollars an episodes, as some do today. These people were also parents with daily contracts, not like today. Wardrobes, because of the budget, were provided by the cast, except for Elizabeth Montgomery and Dick York/Sargent. If you look at the end credits, it shows who provided the clothes for York/Sargent. On the first two seasons, the provider of Liz's clothes was also listed.
I've often wondered how much BEWITCHED would cost per episode today. CGI isn't cheap nor are the actors.
Because of the pyrotechnics, they couldn't do the show before a live audience, as other shows often were. This allowed them to build a four walled set with movable walls for camera work.
The cast and the home set are two reasons why BEWITCHED is so beloved. May it live on forever!

Continuity wasn't a big thing in 1960s TV shows, but they brought back pretty much the entire supporting cast from the "Bewitched" pilot episode, including Nancy Kovack as Shelia, for this Season 4 show. The later scene in the bar when Samantha thinks she's lost Darrin to Shelia, and his return after having second thoughts, shows how great the chemistry was between Montomgery and York. Not the funniest episode of S4, but definitely the one that feels the most like one of the early B&W episodes.
They had some continuity, like Darrin past person (I don't remember the name) , they introduced him at season 3 and they bring him back at season 7 with Dick Sargent

Lol Darrin could never accept the fact that by being married to Samantha, he was never really “in charge” he was only in charge because Samantha LET him be.
Elizabeth Montgomery definitely had better chemistry with Dick York than she did with his successor.

@@danacaro-herman3530 I read her quote in the Bewitched book by Herbie j. Pilato. She said she felt more comfortable with Dick Sargent. She thought bn that Dick York paid too much attention to her because he told her he had a crush on her. Also.his physical ailments caused stress for her.

I read that Dick Sargent was originally considered for the part of Darin so he finally got to be on here after Dick Y left. ,but later i rad that someone else was considered for the role of Samantha too.

Darrin's accusation that Sam and Endora were always against him. Oh, is he wrong! Sam was his biggest defender, often stepping between her Mother and Darrin. How many times did he come to realize this by saying, "I can't live without you."? Sam, like Elizabeth, were strong women. They had to to be. Sam had to put up with Larry and his mother and Elizabeth having to put up with Hollywood and her father, etc.
Who’s watching Tabitha when they went into the past?
The anger that Darrin often displayed, particularly in the first five seasons, may have something to do with Sol Saks idea that conflict is funny. Below is an interview with him.

I did not know this one was one was on color since I saw it on a black and white set years after my parents' color set broke in the 1970's and not many years after they got it . Also, I first saw this 1n 1979 on WGN in Chicago and it had not had the first 2 seasons and this one for a long time. Maybe there was another episode where Samantha's mother makes it so they never met and they go back in time. Her mother says the crossover through time on that one and she dressed differently and had different make up on in the older episodes.

Actually,, Darren has a point here: Sam _knew_ about the cobra in his briefcase and she didn't warn him. That's enough to justify a certain level of irritation.
I side with Darrin on this. Samantha's mother and extended family are always meddling and interfering. Samantha needs to keep them in check.
I like how Derrin is never truly comfortable with Samantha's powers. This show is great inspirational material for a story that I've been writing for the past few years. A man and a woman who are bound to each other not necessarily because of love but because they have children together. She possesses a slew of psychic and psionic abilities that only affect him, such as reading his mind and inflicting pain on his body, and he knows it. This show helps set the template for how a physically stronger man can resent and even fear a seemingly weaker woman from a "lesser class' who, deep down inside, is NOT normal. The topics include date rape, interracial relationships, race relations, female-on-male domestic violence in front of children, shattered dreams, forgiveness. English, Irish, Germanic, Haitian and Scottish fantasy folklore elements imported to the USA (no vampires or werewolves) and overall two very young people who are "damaged goods" trying to make it work for the sake of their children and sometimes failing miserably. Think of it as a retelling of Cinderella where things go horribly wrong on the very first night. Working title is DATE NIGHT.
