    how about taking these stem cells or growth hormones and injecting it into the disk spacing itself wonder would that work?

    you are modifying the whole spine structure with the fusion! This a short-term resolution, but then with the passing of the time, the other discs will have to bear and increase of the loads due to the absence of the disc on L5-S1 ! You have to pump the degenerated disc and reestablish the height

    Total disc replacement rather than fusion.

    Degenerated discs do not cause axial back pain. I can't believe this person was offered a fusion initially, based on those images. Unbelievable.
