The way she sings this, her desperation/vulnerability in the chorus, breaks my heart with every word, it's almost like she's telling a story of her past life, of some different time
It's silly to blame the artist if their fans are ignorant or don't give credit where it's due. And fast cash? Do you really think an already commercially successful artist is going to cover someone like Leonard Cohen just for the money?
I love her voice, but her performance I don't like. She acts like she don't care or doesnt make an effort. I don't think she knows how captivate the emotion of a song. She hides that with putting different images of scenarios.
So, why? It´s greatly sung, no offense for that, but this song just isn´t made to be sung by a woman. Just some fast cash? It´s quiet as annoying as all of the Hallelujah-Covers. Just listen to the master and you´ll have it. All this 14 yo kids coming around and saying: "Oh. what a wonderful song" without knowing whoms´ work this is, just piss me off. There is a nice saying in german:"Sich mit fremden Federn schmücken", that would fit here nicely. Greetz Hannes
Hannes336699 so I understand this comment was made six years ago, and I’d give you the benefit of the doubt that this is something you’d look back at and think “Eh that’s kind of a cringy take.” I don’t see why this song couldn’t be sung by a women. Gender swap occurs constantly in covers. Her specific style of singing, thought often not my personal cup of tea, fits the song well in a way that stays true to the original while still incorporating her own influences. I don’t see how this is a cash grab. She is already an incredibly successful and established artist in her own right. Anytime a musician with a mainstream audience covers a song by a more niche artist, fans of the original worry that people unfamiliar with the original song will assume the cover is an original work. While this is fair, it can also be great exposure for those “14 yo kids” to find new unique music. Because you come off as a bit of a purist, if you haven’t found “The Chelsea Hotel Oral Sex Song” by Jeffery Lewis you might really like it. It’s written in a similar style to Chelsea Hotel #2 and is also (at least in part) about that song.

Hello
Sex experts like Leonard Cohen and Lana Del Rey tell you things that you think you might know, but realize you don't, when you think twice.

Wer ist auch hier wegen Toni Mahfud ?
