  • Here is a fabulous and rare classic wristwatch from the 1950's that has a lot going for it. Most important, this watch is running, keeping accurate time, and has impeccable provenance.
    AVAILABLE AT PortlandPandemonium.com
Originally produced and sold by Louis of New York (5th Avenue) as a promotional item for the famous Necchi Elna Sewing Circle of Italy. Most likely it was meant for Necchi salesmen or shop owners featuring the Necchi line. This particular watch came from the estate of a sewing machine repair shop owner in Portland Oregon and has had only the one owner.
It is a Swiss-made wind-up analog piece with the Necchi Elna logos and colors on the face, while the Louis 5th Avenue logo is also faintly visible in the background!
Luxury features include a sweep-second hand, irradiated numerals and pointers, a stainless steel water resistant case, the iconic Incabloc shock absorber works, and a beautiful Baldwin stainless steel expansion flex band.
Overall the watch and band show little signs of use or wear although there was some scant corrosion on one edge of the case.
Complete with the original Louis Fifth Avenue silk lined, metal hinged, hard plastic, pentagon shaped presentation case also in great condition.
Louis was a high-end jeweler during the mid century era. The store was located in the center of the coveted 5th Avenue's jewelers row between where Tiffany's and Lord & Taylor's are currently established.
