this video was perfect. i really enjoy the build it yourself attitude ie if it works does a good job and is safe then give it a go its what i love about window cleaning .self employed and freedom to get creative
good job wagga, i use a pole more and more and if i can get away from breaking the ladder out then i leave it and use the pole! :) Good job on the Video Lee! ;)
like to see it's effect on dirty windows with bird shit and and cobwebs rather than windows and sills that are already clean. looks like a botch and scarper ill stick to my squeegee and microfibre to wipe frames and sills. plus up and down my a frame ladder keeps me fit. I use a small water fed pole set up for conservatory roofs ect.
David Jackson have to agree with you, plus customers want to see you up a ladder, putting soapy water on there Windows and cleaning them. Been doing this job since I was 17 & I'm 53 now, if it's not broke why fix it.
LOL I'm 21 and I have just started... don't overthink things sometimes you just have to do it and see if it works. The start up cost is very low and like me you are 21 so you have nothing to lose! I have a daughter but I also have an eBay business and my girlfriend works so I really don't have much to lose and I've just started. ITS NOT EASY!!! But I'm finally getting it. P.s I am Video Documenting my progress on youtube if your interested :)
You can get away with this in a climate like Seattle, but you ain't seen no dirty windows until you've been to Spokane WA... Holy crap... the windows here have everything from UV baked pine tree pollen, to volcano ash, dirt road dirt, fire smoke, petrified spider poop, and everything in between that gets cooked on by the summer heat... Nearly every window needs to be cleaned and scraped twice on the exterior... I'm trying to get my customers on a routine, but the sticker shock of getting them cleaned initially makes folks apprehensive... I try telling them that if they call me back in 6 months it will be 30-40 percent cheaper... because if you let them go, it will cost the same, especially with the high desert climate...
Im amazed you are describing this as an alternative to wfp ! Dont get me wrong, you look very efficient with it but ive no doubt i would be kicked into touch by my customers if i turned up with that rag-tag set up! I think ill pass on this one!
That towel wrap with the alligator clip is actually a good idea for a waterfed pole too. Allows you to move quicker and not have to worry about streaks coming down from the top of the window.
Actually you can clean without leaving marks but it takes a lot of practice and skill. I don't use this method much anymore but I was successful with it for many years.
as long as you angle the squeegee properly you will get no limes left whatsoever the opposite of divebombing or fan with the wag on pole which is another skill to learn good vid Chris and Lee I learnt to do both ways consistently well from your vids and many a chat with Bob Hatt and a lot of trial and error it's definitely not as easy as it looks that's for sure
I usually clean, squeegee and then dry the squeegee and wrap a micro fibre cloth over it and give it a final wipe, it details the edges and also removes any streaks that may get left behind.
What markets are you aiming at?? If you took that Frankenstein contraption the the my high end customer's.... If you just use a traditional washer squeeze one end out use it verticaly across the top (dryer end of washer = leading edge..) and a new rubber blade tap n pull preferably with a liquidator channel on wagtail handle no need for rag and clip... save up for a wfp... thats just me though
Actually, at the time Chris Dawber came up with this was quite ingenious, some of those questions Chris is not here to answer currently but I am sure as a window cleaner he has his methods for each and everyone. The idea was based on saving money.
Whichever method you choose to clean windows with is your choice. Your customer is paying to have their windows cleaned. If the windows are cleaned after the method you choose well, what does it matter :)
For one a professional cleaner wouldn’t clean a window like that ...I’d fire anyone who turned up to work with a contraption like that it Looks like a badly designed bodged prototype that was rejected by dragons den
Brilliant as always, loved the music. Window cleaning is a noble fight.

Great job
A Very inventive mind the zip ties is an ace idea is there any close up videos on how you did it? Cheers
Knowledge is only POTENTIAL POWER! From the book Think and Grow Rich
Great idea to do dusty windows!!!! I'll still use the ladder for the ones that need the extra ckeaning
Thank you for the tip
good job wagga, i use a pole more and more and if i can get away from breaking the ladder out then i leave it and use the pole! :)
Good job on the Video Lee! ;)
Has it's use on high commercial insides, but not on outsides. Frames and ledges are expected to be cleaned and should be.
i really like this method. very simple and smart
awesome!
how can i get my hands on this?
are they for sale??

hi great video .....is there a way of cleaning Frames and ledge on a pole ......just started up .....thanks
So what about the window frames and window cill? do you not clean them up?
The clue is in the job title window cleaner. Not window frame cleaner or window cill cleaner it's window cleaner.
Hi Jo, using that method, no, but I also use WFP a lot more now and the frames get done more.
Ricky Howard thats stupid! Thats like hiring a car valeter and him saying ohh i need to charge more to do the wheels

And what about if they got dirty sills ? most of my customers ask can you clean the sills to please.
Jason Owen he did show the sill cleaning toward the end of the video.
What type of material are you using for your wash pad? And can I get your magazine in the states?
It is a micro fibre pad and the magazine is free at www.windowcleaningmagazine.co.uk
Great tip for cold climate cleaning
Do you use a Harris pole
Im amazed you are describing this as an alternative to wfp ! Dont get me wrong, you look very efficient with it but ive no doubt i would be kicked into touch by my customers if i turned up with that rag-tag set up! I think ill pass on this one!
quick and easy alternative to a roast dinner.. crack open 4 tins of dog food and you and the family can sit on the floor and eat with your hands lol
That towel wrap with the alligator clip is actually a good idea for a waterfed pole too. Allows you to move quicker and not have to worry about streaks coming down from the top of the window.
WFP steaks don't matter as it uses pure water so you don't detail unless you haven't washed the frames properly
Can you buy this tool yet?
I use a regular pole but I am interested in the one you use. Where can I get one or more of these?
You can get a good pole from B&Q called a Harris pole. Its only about £15
What chemicals are you using?
lol fantastic!! actually gave me goosebumps at the end there!
Would you not get a water bead mark in the middle of the window as you didn't use the fanning method? just a thought.
My thoughts exactly.!
Pierre Theron No its possible to clean this way without the marks :)
Actually you can clean without leaving marks but it takes a lot of practice and skill. I don't use this method much anymore but I was successful with it for many years.

If it's set up properly and you have mastered the technique, then it is possible to do a good job.
I usually clean, squeegee and then dry the squeegee and wrap a micro fibre cloth over it and give it a final wipe, it details the edges and also removes any streaks that may get left behind.
same here mate.
Brilliant I'm just starting out cheers boys
What about pine tree sap on your glass?
Razor blade. They have attachments to hook on your pole.
Brilliant
Cant wait to get started in this sector, sadly not till next year due to you guessed it....money lol

not for me, traditional ladder method all the way mate
Don't forget those sills!
How would you do windows with cross bars or lead not to mention cleaning the frame and cill. From a business point of view looks very amateur.
Actually, at the time Chris Dawber came up with this was quite ingenious, some of those questions Chris is not here to answer currently but I am sure as a window cleaner he has his methods for each and everyone. The idea was based on saving money.
Brilliannt ,sot on
Top man .
I hope you didn’t charge that poor customer that’s absolutely shocking
Greate thanks
Hi, me personally? I use the CL-X :)
problem I thing I would find is being asked by the customer what im doing, and i know they would not be impressed
Whichever method you choose to clean windows with is your choice. Your customer is paying to have their windows cleaned. If the windows are cleaned after the method you choose well, what does it matter :)
i like to clean then detail then squeegie
You need Sponge Bob, dude
Very cash n dash method. No cleaning of frames nor even sills.
he needs to patent that and sell it to me
YES but make it look more pleasing to the eye first haha
No its still a DIY
Shame :-(( please can you make a video with the diy ??? How did you made it???
Hi Gordon its a DIY
minter!! just use ladders 😂
what a joke :-)

What a load of nonsense
