We have been hearing about this for a long time in the Philippines for months. But somehow, it's brushed under the rug because our primary issue is with the PRC. Vietnam don't ram our boats nor do they block our fishermen in their traditional fishing grounds. Vietnam can be reasoned with, while China will just ram and water cannon Filipinos away from our EEZ. That make's all the difference.

The relationship between China and the Philippines could have been as peaceful as that between the Philippines and Vietnam, but the United States is manipulating the Philippine government from behind the scenes, deliberately creating conflicts and tensions because it wants to alleviate the pressure it faces on two fronts in Ukraine and Israel.

Hey man. I get what you're trying to get across. But Vietnam's effort in alleviating the Typhoon damage is looked upon positively by Worlds' institutions, which they can be rightfully proud of. They deployed 400k Soilders to help prepare for the evacuation rescue operations, offer aid to peoples affected and credits for businesses as well. After 3 weeks everything was pretty much back to normal, aside from a few industrial plants in the North. I understand your view and sentiment, that this government is without flaws. But seeing Vietnam developing Strategic partnerships with 4 Global superpowers while simultaneously uplifting hundreds of thousands of people from poverty does show competency

Back in 2014 China was getting agressive with the drilling rig HD 981 which prompted a response from Vietnam. Not aiming at anyone in particular but troops suddenly get snap drill orders, riots and demonstration against China was tacitly "allowed to happen" and a few dozens boats both law enforcement and civilian shadowed and trail the Chinese drilling rig. Now with China expansion of its holding, Vietnam is doing the same.

After the war in 1975, the US left behind many advanced aircraft and tons of bombs in Vietnam. It is certain that China is no match for Vietnam in battles around the Spratly Islands at that time. The Vietnamese remained calm enough to avoid conflict with China in 1988 when they suddenly occupied some islands.
Looking back now, I can see how clever our leaders were at that time for not attempting to reclaim the islands. We might have won that war and regained all those islands, but what would have happened next would have been far more dangerous. We could have been stuck in a prolonged conflict, and our country might never have become as strong as it is today.
