  • You should definitely replace your Audi TT Mk1 cabin filter regularly to make sure you are filtering out harmful fumes, dust and other air pollution.
It is a fairly easy job and there is a handy flap in the windscreen trim panel to do this.
However, I am cleaning my engine bay right now so figured I would take the panel off to give it a good clean.
This process is more involved as you need to remove the windscreen wiper arms to remove the trim panel.
    For this you will need:
    A 10mm Socket and Rachet.
    Small bladed screwdriver.
A HeavyDuty Windscreen Wiper puller tool.
Te replacement filter part is made by MAPCO and part number is 65202. It cost me £9.95 from Ebay.
The Puller was about £15 from Amazon.
Lets keep these great cars on the road!
Please message me if you have any questions!

Thanks Andy, been cleaning my engine bay also and this has now given me the confidence to clean underneath the scuttle trim 👍

Hi Richard! Good to hear it’s helped you out! It gets seriously messy under there but highly recommend one of the pullers for the wiper arms! Video covering my engine bay clean up (which this will be part of) should be coming this week! I would be interested to hear your experiences with the clean up job! Let me know how it’s gone!

When you say the “other side”, do you mean it’s under your passenger side too or it’s under the drivers side? If it’s under drivers side windshield on a USA car it’s the same side of the car as a UK car 👍

Enjoyed that😊. Now means I can justify the purchase of the wiper arm puller! 😁

Ha ha! Buy one Bob! I did not realise the difficulty in removing wiper arms without one! Thanks for the comment! 👍

Thanks Andy. A very interesting and informative video. Next job......order a wiper removal tool. Nice one!

Thanks! If you do any trim restoration under the bonnet (all the plastic trim parts) they all unbolt really easy....until you get to the challenge of that scuttle panel (Thanks @Ben of the north!) and that is when you need the wiper tool. It will come in handy im sure! Thanks again for watching!

There's a lot of crap behind that scuttle panel! Mine isn't clipped in properly so I think I might take it off just for the clean and re-seating.

That’s the right name! Scuttle panel! There is a groove along the back which I think the panel should clip into Ben. I think it was so clogged up, it was not in it. So I cleaned it out more with the small screwdriver and a brush!

Hi Andy I have recently purchased a 2005 roadster and have started doing service bits to it so I watched your vid with eager anticipation. I then went out to inspect my cabin filter for wear to see if it needed replacement. My vehicle doesn’t have the inspection hatch / flap as yours does so does that mean there isn’t a cabin filter or is it that all the plastic trim must be removed to change it like you did? I didn’t get an owners manual with my vehicle so I can’t check that. Thanks Joe

Hi Joe. Are you 100% sure it does not have that flap? Not heard of one that does not. It does look like it is part of the scuttle panel. If it does not. Remove the wipers and lift the scuttle panel off. Let me know how you get on mate and let me know if you need any advice 👍

@joejojo4751 - If you have a Left hand Drive (IE US car) the filter is on the right side (passenger) side or left side looking from the front of the car. That is how it is on our 06 TT coupe US spec car.

I would like to know what is referring to when he says harmful smells, and how a filter is going to help. Also, I did not sign up for a save the environment video. Keep your BS about how to dispose of filters to yourself.
