Congratulations on the changes. I too made that change 12 years ago. I went from 500+ pounds to 355lbs in about a year and a half. I’ve gained some back but trying to get back to focusing on my goal weight of 300 pounds
Hey Loz, Thank you for making this video. This year myself I've lost 70lbs (238>168 at 5'11") and I found myself grinning from ear to ear this entire video because the process for me was exactly the same and you hit the nail on the head for every piece of advice. I had tried so many times in the past to make the change only to fail due to diving into a super restrictive lifestyle that was unsustainable for me. You are 100% correct about the key being to find a plan that is sustainable and focusing on progress vs perfection and being able to accept it is not an overnight change. And I hope those watching are able to take those words to heart and apply them. It takes time. It takes discipline. And it takes a lifestyle change that you can be consistent with and, most of all, enjoy. I usually don't comment on videos but I truly hope this video reaches as many people like us as it can, so I am.
It's very brave you speaking about eating disorders in times of depression. I was 8kg down from my all time heaviest and had gained 25kg from 2020-2022. I'm now back up to that larger weight due to some depressive moments in my life. As you say it's comfort, it feels so good at the time but I'd look at the scale and be more depressed. So well done uncle Loz on your amazing accomplishment mate. Merry Christmas to you and your family ❤️
Come one man, I believe that you can do it too! I myself am too heavy and planning to lose some weight (depending on how I feel probably around 20-25 kg), let's enjoy the grind together my friend!
Same Got the Mass now I need to Firm it Up. Got a Plan and a Support Net, We're gonna Hit it HARD and Hit our Goals. and some. I'm 6'3'' 325lbs. Firm it up, Trim it down to 280. Get Healthy ER. It's been great getting to know you here on Youtey. Cheers to the New Year. Happiness and Health for All. !!
What you said about changing your relationship with food really hits home for me. Its the thing I have found most difficult with in my journey from over 18 stone in 2019 with slow progress to where I am now at 13 stone. Some days as you said i eat way too much and hate myself for it while putting more food in my mouth. It's my constant struggle. It's strange to say but I'm glad other struggle too and it's not just me. You have done amazing and are a true inspiration. Thank you.
This is a further demonstration of what an authentic personality in strongman you are. You’re so likeable and why you’re so well followed in strongman. A true inspiration. I appreciate the explanation about strength loss then the body getting used to the lighter weight as one of my fears. I’m like so many starting a journey this year hoping to drop weight and improve my health markers.
Eh.. ... he lost most of his following after he supported that cheating motherfucker colin bryce and not only that but helped set up the same bullshit to rig the contests.
I am happy to hear it took 2 years, and you did it to be healthy. I started my weight loss journey April 2021, got to 96lbs down. With weight lifting I stay right about there, up and down but mainly right around that 96 off. Really Really want to hit the 100-120 down.
I started my weight loss journey in August of 2022. I started at 356lbs (161kg). In January 2023 I'm sitting at 325lbs (147kg). I'm super happy to have lost 30lbs (13kg), but I'm really struggling mentally because I just want to lose 25lbs (12kg) to meet my * first * weight loss goal of being 300lbs (136kg) on my birthday in February 2023. With Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Year holidays I'm still trying to un-do the suboptimal eating habits I had on these occasions... I'm trying to change my outlook, but all I can think is how much further along I WOULD be in my journey if I had not been so gluttonous during the holidays. Like you, I'm just trying to make lifestyle changes. No resolutions, just truly wanting to be a better person than before. Thank you for sharing your journey, your honesty, and reminders of improving each day. I look forward to seeing more of your journey and I can't wait to share my successes with you as well. Cheers!
Congratulation! It seems we were on the same journey, I have gone from 306 lbs to 191 lbs since Jan 2021. It's been rough (especially in my 60's). I work out 60 to 120 minutes a day, I probably hurt every part of my body while working out these past 2 years, but I feel really good now. Congratulations again!!
It's nice to hear such an even headed approach. I'm on my own 150lb weight loss and to hear you talk about the relationship with food made me feel better. You can still enjoy yourself with some "crappy" food as long as you don't go animal
I’m getting back into it after two months off. Was in the best shape of my life and lost a lot of it. Could have excuses, but I was just lazy. Owning up to it. This is a big inspiration to remain back at it!!
Cheers loz, I've realised everything you said applies to me ...... depressed , eat , bored , eat .... no control .. . .. took control when my kidneys packed up due to diabetes ... I was a 140 + class powerlifter with some descent numbers ...... at my heaviest I was 175 kilos ..... dropped to 98 kilos ... back up to around 110 now , but back at it today thanks to watching your video last night . So easy to slip back into bad habits . Interesting comment about TRT , I'm 61 and been looking at that . Cheers
Congrats on your weight loss Loz and thanks for being honest and transparent with us about your lifetime struggles and your relationship with food. It sounds like you've conquered many of your inner demons. Keep up the awesome work!
WAY TO GO BIG LOZ!!! I knew you'd hit your goal...your attitude and will is what I had faith in and I knew you'd take control of what you could and you made it happen. Period. Love it!!! Marine Mike 🇺🇸 💪
Been working out from when i was 13 years old as a runner to the army. At 27yrs old training in the gym for my health and 33 was building myself up but not eating right and doing things wrong coz of looking at the wrong people on TH-cam. But 37yrs old, I'm happy I follow the old school guys with fewer gym injuries who have done this for years in the gym. Gym for life. It's about adapting to my body and listening to how it reacts and feels. Great video! 👍
Happy new year Loz, Definitely miss you in strongman and will be great to see you compete again! It's great to see such motivation and determination as it helps mere mortals like myself that anything is possible! I have suffered with weight problems and binging for year's and now at nearly 51 year's old I'm the best I've been in years!! Thank you my friend, have a great 2023!!
Amazing video. I turned 50 last year and have been going to the gym to some degree since I was 15, but I am a bad foodie. Pringles, Chicago Town stuffed crust and a tub of B&Js would be a walk in the park for me for tea. I had a goal to hit 200kg deadlift x3 by the end of last year but I knackered my knee, BUT I also set 120kg x10 on flat bench, which I did just before the end of December. Two years ago that was at 95x10. I'm done with pushing the weights up though so I'm going to work on weight loss and fitness this year and hit the TRT in a couple of months. Prescribed, nothing dodgy. Daughter's wedding in May 2024 is my target date and I'd like to shift at least 2 stone, if not more. Little steps and achievable goals so I don't lose faith and get the pizzas cooking. Great work Loz.
Thank you for being open about your T use. I wish more people would do this. I mean no disrespect. I think it's totally different in vs out of competition and I see nothing wrong with men, as they age, using reasonable amounts of medically prescribed T.
Loz, great job!!! I understand the troubles, at one point, I weighed 440 pounds, 199 kg, and now I am 275, 124 kg. I weigh less now than I did in high school, and I am 50. I watch my calories, work out at least 5 times a week, and I gave up soda. I love being able to hike all day or walk with my kids when we visit them. Keep it up!!!
I was a strongman I was like 22st I got on a diet got to 14st it was hell I found ma self eating again and I'm at 19st now it's hard going been a big eater all time !!! I was a strongman because I was a big eater that all I'm back on diet again now target be like 15st this time I met big loz in manchester ones a true Gentleman!! Would love to see him compete and see him fall in love with a new sport
It's good to see the a lot more Strongmen adopting a more healthy approach. Losing strength as we age or lose weight is just fact. Being in better shape, stronger and fitter than most other people in our age class is what counts.
Amazing weight loss journey so honest about your relationship with food and how this affects your mental health. I am currently on my own journey gone from 146kg to currently sitting at 130kg. Have allowed some Xmas treats but been very mindful this year. Seeing and hearing your story Loz is inspiring
Good morning Loz. Happy New Year to you and Auntie Liz.. I follow and like your channel very much. I’ve commented before but not often. This video caused me to reach out. Thank you for posting it. I think it inspires others, and can also help others make it through another day. I think many people believe that athletes (especially in the strength game) are invincible. They are human. Years ago I was a respectable armature bodybuilder and dabbled in powerlifting in the off season., Being a chubby child when I began training I lacked confidence, and self worth. Once I became respectable in my disciplines, I still struggled with self confidence. I fully understand what you spoke of regarding looking in the mirror. Anyway. I commend you for this video, (and ALL your great content. I wish you and Liz and your family continued success. I hope to meet you both one day when you are next in the states. Perhaps at the Rogue.
Well done Loz, I’ve lost 40kg switching from strongman/powerlifting training to CrossFit while still incorporating strongman, powerlifting movements. Would you ever go and film a workout with Gary Taylor now he’s into CrossFit being as fit as you are now? Would be cool to see. Back in the day it was Gary who got me into training.
This was super informative and surprising to see you being so open about drug use and mental health as part of your Strongman career and this journey. You're the man Loz
Your video just popped up as a suggestion and I had to watch. Loz, massive well done you look awesome and you must feel so much happier and healthier. Congrats. Fixing a bad relationship with food can be so difficult and as you said, takes TIME. Well done mate 👏🏻
I've always been fit and could pack on muscle easy. After covid, an accident where my shoulder needed operating on and bicep reattached, covid again..... i'm in poor shape, it's been a little over a year of sitting on my ass. It's good to see you say things take time, you just have to get after it.
Congrats and you are also blessed to have very tight skin after the weight loss.....you look incredible. Look forward to following you on your journey for 2023 and beyond.
I was a high school and then high school athlete that was always extremely active (worked hard labor as well) and never understood how to behave with good. When college sports came to an end I never had any discipline and ballooned up to my high of 400lbs last Christmas. One year later I’m down just over 130lbs and have retaught myself how to be active and be responsible with food while also enjoying it and keeping it sustainable. Everyone’s journey is different, but no one is alone on it.
I really appreciate the candour of this video. Great work on the loss and the attention to the time of loss. It didn’t take 8 weeks to put on, shouldn’t be expected to take it off in 8 weeks.
Wow, well done Loz what a change. Your an inspiration. And thank you for your honesty about Steroid’s, the world needs more athletes like you to reduce the body image issues that are growing in todays society. Keep up the work.
Congrats on achieving your goal, you look great! Its not easy physically or mentally to achieve but you handled it like a boss. Main thing is you been happier and healthier for you and your family. Hope you get your celebration cake 🎂🎂🎂🎂
You did great big Loz (to medium Loz😁) great channel and great job by Liz..and i love the way you look..and your hair (hairy) keep up the best strongman channel. Love from Denmark..and merry Christmas to you and your family
Congratulations on getting to a healthier weight. Changing your eating habits for the long-term isn't easy. I am also someone who used food as comfort through hard times. Reprogramming your brain to not look to food for comfort is a difficult task. I can't say I have been able to do it yet myself, but I am working on it.
I think it is great that you are looking to a new chapter in your journey in strongman. I am glad to see that there is a purpose ,and you did not just let yourself become immobile or unhealthy. Glad to watch the transformation, and see how excited you are
Well done mate. Taking the time means it’s not yo-yo. Amazing how many men have eating challenges in their heads. Not spoken about enough. Almost as much pressure on younger men to conform these days as there has been for generations of women. With a 12 yr old son I see him calling himself fat when he isn’t, and he idolises the Marvel body shape. It’ll be a bigger problem for our children so big lads like you speaking out is a good start. All the best from Scotland 🏴 ❤
Great Insite into your dieting and lifestyle...I've been watching you for years on strongman...your looking really good...keep the beard it's part of your look...
2 years...started at 330lbs. Down to 280lbs. My goal is also the 100lbs. Thnx for the motivation Uncle Loz 🤙🏾
Good for you keep it up. 🤘
good luck bro
You got this. You can do it.
Good job dude!!!
Keep it up, my brother! You got this
That's what I call a big Loss 🤦😅
Lol 🤭
If TH-cam had awards like Reddit I’d give you all of them
Such a loser
HA
Ooof, hard dad joke 😂
Congratulations on the changes. I too made that change 12 years ago. I went from 500+ pounds to 355lbs in about a year and a half. I’ve gained some back but trying to get back to focusing on my goal weight of 300 pounds

So much respect for being so transparent, especially about TRT. Completely ignoring the subject can do more harm than good I think

I think it inspires others, and can also help others make it through another day. I think many people believe that athletes (especially in the strength game) are invincible. They are human. Wow !!!!! Well done Loz , that's a life changing effort 👍
Appreciate the honesty... It's needed for many more people, myself included!

Hope to see you do well at Gloucester , Masters comp👏👏

Congrats and you are also blessed to have very tight skin after the weight loss.....you look incredible. Look forward to following you on your journey for 2023 and beyond.

Well done Loz! I'm excited seeing you getting stronger again!
Fantastic results. Glad you feel and appear to be more positive. Could you provide a breakdown of your training plan?
I think it is great that you are looking to a new chapter in your journey in strongman. I am glad to see that there is a purpose ,and you did not just let yourself become immobile or unhealthy.
Glad to watch the transformation, and see how excited you are
Loz i am 50 years Young and still at gym doing cardio and weights Knees bad and back but i am still going and feel very fit
keep it up Buddy
This is brilliant. Very level headed approach. I'm keen to see how you go in the events you mentioned.
Amazing inspiration. I've 5 stone to loss in the new year !Well done Amazing 👏
Great video! Thanks for answering all those questions
