Honestly I'm not one that tends to say these kind of cheesy things, but Loz you're a very fortunate man having a lady like Liz by your side. She seems really supportive, caring and understanding, she knows how to have a laugh plus she's really passionate about the sport. I reckon Uncle Loz success both as a competitor and as a content creator has lots to do with his wife. Salute to you both and wishing for a great year, both in the sport of strongman and for your family.

That was a good question about when husbands and wives are both strongman competitors. It would very interesting to see you do an interview with Maxime Boudreault and Samantha Belliveau on this subject as they are both top-tier, world-class competitors. How do they manage training? Do they always train together? How do they do it when they're both trying to peak for a competition, but the competitions are weeks or months apart? Same for nutrition schedules? If they're both peaking for a comp, how are the psychological pressures? Do things get "tense" around home? The same questions apply to recovery after big competitions.

  • @CraigNiel

Great video. I think people forget what's important in life, the fact that you do something that allows you to spend time with your kids is priceless. Simple things like being able to drop them off at school and pick them up, there's no value put on that and that's a big mistake.
Before COVID I worked at my last place for 17 years, a lot of the time doing 12 hour shifts. I'd leave after 12 hours and go straight to the gym and do an hour there so not a lot of time spent at home. COVID made me redundant but for me it was a blessing in disguise. Although I enjoyed my job and I was happy, when I was made redundant I became a full time carer for my disabled daughter and it's the best thing that ever happened to me, I realised exactly what true happiness was. Although it's extremely difficult at times (and much more tiring than my previous job) I enjoy the time spent with her. I get paid a pittance from the government but you know what, a happy life isn't about having lots of money, it really really isn't.

It's refreshing to hear somebody who has been top-tier in their field actually be honest about said field. Too many competitors understate certain aspects ("supplement use" in this case) and overstate others (how much work they do, how all-encompassing their lifestyle is) in order to make themselves seem superior. Being world-class in a field is impressive enough without feeling the need to flex and self-aggrandise.
