  • In this video I'll be discussing how multiple playthroughs, different decisions as well as quest order impacts Takemura's Story. Many of these details can be easily missed or considered hidden and has a considerable impact on the way the player can view Takemura.

Takemura as an incredibly well written character. In "the devil", you could say he "wins". He gets all he wanted. He didn't betray V in the end . But the character of Takemura feels so wrong, because even though he doesn't show it, he fears Arasaka. He is terrified of them. He desperately wants to side with Arasaka because he considers them the wining side. Even after he has been screwed by arasaka so many times, he still acts like a dog and tries to please them.
But the main reason why he is an uncomfortable character to watch, is that any person working in the corporative world, can see itself reflected on Takemura.
Almost none of us actually work in anything meaninful. Quite the oposite, very often we give our lives, working on things that are unnecesary, or straight harm society as a whole. We do it because we tell ourselves it is the only way. We consider our lives the most important thing, and try to preverse it, and survive, no matter the cost. Without ever thinking, we actually HAVE a choice. We are just often, not willing to pay the price.

Takemura was the sole reason I wanted to do the Devil ending. Even my Corpo V knew how shitty his bosses were, and he wouldn't have helped them just to save his own skin or get his office back. He simply had to help the man who saved his life. You covered Takemura's other quality traits that make him a decent man, and a good friend. He also looks like Hiroyuki Sanada so that's a plus!
It is a shame that you have to choose between loyalty and doing the right thing, but that's one of the excellent aspects to this story. Great video.🤘

Another awesome video, and really good analysis! There was a moment with Takemura that really stood out to me. When you're at Tom's Diner with Takemura, you can choose to remain silent and let him argue with Tom. Takemura gets silenced and looks really ashamed afterwards. If you are streetkid you have an option to tell Takemura "Tom's a good guy. He's just not afraid to speak his mind". To which Takemura answers "He reminds me of my father. He worked in a diner like that his entire life". This is really interesting because not only does it reveal an important part of Takemura's character at such an early stage of the game, but it also tells you Takemura isn't your ordinary corpo-prick character. He has a very unique background and is different from the other rich corpo people that you see, which allows you to relate to him and see him differently, giving you a much softer impression of him. Oh and about Takemura being a former comedian, I don't think that's true judging from inside information. And besides, how would Takemura have the time to be a comedian when he was raised to be Saburo's bodyguard and served in the military his entire life.

There is a disabled dialogue in that very conversation, that was present in the 1.0 version of the game. It was possible for you to ask Takemura that Viktor saw to his implants, to which Takemura would reply: "I like him, he asks no unnecessary questions." For some reason, CDPR disabled this dialogue.

It's very reasonable to want a Takemura romance... but it's pretty likely that he's already in love with Hanako, which is part of why his behavior is so irrational whenever she's involved. In fact the real story about takemura is the following:
As saburo is almost on the edge of dying of oldness.
The prototype of the biochip is stolen by yorinobu ( allowed or not to be stolen we dont know )...
Takemura is sent to investigate on saburo's death and the chip.
As they cant find it they may have guess it has been sticked in a brain...
And they need it to revive saburo later... the biochip as hellman said wasnt ready. Takemura need to infiltrate V's friendzone to understand who is entangled within this story...
Thats why we are chased not by araska's ninja on the road but maybe more likely with kang tao special forces. ( the guy we crashed with takemura's shion on a advertise board in the badland ) ...
Takemura's role after knowing where v is ... is to find the biochip for data...
And what changed in the plan after
Deshawn's death is that Vs alive and they concluded that the biochip work. So v's under observation upon takemura supervision. Because the biochip work and arasaka can revive saburo.
It was a hell of a luck.
They already know yorinobu will be the host for his father cause they know that it can only be done through genetic compatibity ( plot twist to had ... silverhand might be V's father or grandpa )
So a plan is built involving takemura, his ninja mate and hanako to test his ability and his health resistance with the celebration and after with hanako's meeting.
The goal is to eliminate V to retrieve the engram and the datas.
    We know now :
    1. Takemura was on his own mission to find what happened about the biochip and saburo.
To retrieve his honor lost (and his implants) of not protecting his master .
2.as he find V he understand there's a chance to save his master.
But now on a runaway he need to contact hanako.
But they are chased by kangtao mercenary because hellman sold the biochip and her data to the chinese.
3.all along the plot takemura only try to seduce us, to find the best moment to get back the biochip to arasaka and make contact with the only person that can save saburo's dynastie hanako to restore is statut
And impeach a coup inside the corp.
    4. Thats why if we save him in the forsaken building he flees cause he can now seek protection with hanako and retrieve his cyberware.
And maybe help to manipulate us one last time if we chose the devil path.
5.anyway it was only a matter of month before they retrieve us dead cause the biochip will kill us . Or johnny's engram who is just a construct is compelled to go back to destroy arasaka and die.
    Conclusion:
Takemura was never our friend but always loyal to his master to his corp....
And if we live or not its just a choice of some month before we disapear and araska will win in the end no matter what.
    Unless cdprojekt change this.

I'm also so interested in the future of the relic program because at the end Takemura says it's been used by musicians (Lizzy Wizzy) & politicians (The Peralez?). Where as Hanako's interest peaks at the success of Johnny Silverhand's relic taking over V, meaning it isn't the same as what Lizzy Wizzy & the others have been subjected to.

The only problem with this Devil ending, is that CDPR will not add anything to any expansions to let V be alive again. At least in the other endings V dies free and happy, (if in a relationship ) with people V loves around them.
But being stored in a shard, has a very uncertain if any future at all, and alone away from the people V loves .
Does V have a tracker put on there engram in the soul prison.

  • @kirkh4205

Nice breakdown, but not entirely accurate on all accounts...(spoiler alert)
Takemura is a horrible person, and no, his opinion of V (the thief) never changes throughout the entire game. But, like his beloved Arasaka Corporate Family, he is really good at hiding it (sociopath). He may even fool YOU!...
If V chooses to save Takemura's life, he will eventually repay V by revealing what a serious scumbag he really is. Wait what?
If V chooses to accept Hanako Arasaka's offer, Takemura will help V as they battle against Yorinobu's soldiers and drones. Takemura's best buddy Oda may also be there to help in the fight if V chose not to execute him out of respect for V's friend Takemura. The battle is not in vain, they succeed, allowing Hanako to soothe and comfort her Brusha in his time of dispair. V is very confused at this because V was sure that Hanako wanted revenge on Yorinobu for killing her Fasha, but V doesn't have time to think long on this issue because Hellman takes V to begin the process of removing (and terminating) Johnny Silverhand from V's head. But when V awakes, they find themself on one of Araska's Orbital Stations. This may be because some very advanced tech, like the Malorian 3516, can only be built or serviced in the zero gravity of Space (see fandom page about the Malorian). Immediately after awakening, V is pushed into relentless testing and data collection and is driven to the brink of insanity, at which point Takemura arrives. V is happy to finally see a friendly face, but unfortunately V's friend brings bad news. Takemura informs V that the procedure only partially worked. The construct was removed (and shredded) but V will still die as a result.
At this point, V is given a second offer from Hanako Arasaka. V has now learned, from watching TV news, that Hanako actually did kill her Brusha by installing her Fasha's construct into Yori's body (which is a near perfect genetic match).
Takemura says that V should trust Hanako and if he were in V's shoes, he would take the offer and sign the contract. V notices that the contract will waive ALL of V's human rights, but Takemura assures V that everything will be fine, V will join the Secure Your Soul program for free. This is normally only for the extremely wealthy. Takemura tells V that in the near future, when technology improves, V's construct will be installed into a new human body.... what's really going on is that V will be killed by soul killer and become like Silverhand, a prisoner owned by Araska. This is the end of V in this story line (as far as we know). V's voicemail will become filled with recordings from V's friends and they leave depressing messages, they all assume V is alive somewhere, they don't even find out that V's dead... Takemura does not bother to leave any message.
Hanako Arasaka used Takemura's "Friendship" with V to trick V into voluntarily becoming a prisoner. Hanako wanted revenge on more than Yori, she wanted revenge on V. Did you think she would forget that V stole from her Fasha? Not so. The only hint to this that you'll be able to see, is when V is riding in Hanako's AV flying car, Hanako will be giving V this frightening 'Death-to-you' stare (really it is rather frightening). Takemura does tell V, "this is not a prison", should V choose to decline Secure Your Soul, but V will die before the holidays. It's also possible that Hanako and Suburo could exact revenge in some other way during this time, or maybe the sheer suffering V will endure will suffice. Either way, V is doomed.
If V chose to not accept Hanako's first offer, and instead chooses any of the other game-endpath options... Takemura will leave a visual voicemail message, he is standing in a busted Arasaka building post-attack. He tells V to "Rot in hell" because V attacked his beloved Corporation.
    Takemura is a brainwashed sociopath.
It's pretty good writing, in my opinion.

    • @Nezxmi
      @Nezxmi ปีที่แล้ว +6

Did you not pay attention to the vid? You're recounting the events correctly but you're not considering that Takemura's stance is one of good faith. An offer from Arasaka has saved his life in the past, he sees something of himself in V in this way. When Takemura needed help Arasaka offered it and it saved his life, he genuinely believes the same will happen for V.
Things like using "-san" when referring to V implies genuine care, while things like saying V is being bitter and asking them to reconsider show genuine remorse as he realizes that V's choosing what he believes is certain death by rejecting the offer. Also his referencing to V as a "thief" constantly is a cultural thing, Japan has a very very low theft rate and as such thieves are looked down on. The US has nearly 5x more theft per 100,000 ppl comparatively.
But what Takemura doesn't understand, and admittedly so, is how Soulkiller works. Most 2077 fans don't seem to understand how it works even. You do not get to extend your life with Soulkiller, Soulkiller is a method of turning a person's memory into virtual code, an engram, it decodes people. The relic is a method of encoding that engram onto another person's memory, the inverse of Soulkiller. So the engrams are a perfect copy(potentially) but the perfect copy remains distinctly different from the original as it is virtual. Therefore, giving an engram a body by using the relic does not extend the life of the original being. The original will still die just as they were going to, but they will leave behind a (potentially) perfect copy. And even worse, should V accept in good faith, they would likely SOONER by agreeing to Secure Your Soul. Arasaka has clauses stating that accidents may cause deaths during the process (as opposed to earlier versions like Alt's) and I'm sure they'd write V's death off as such an accident.
Takemura also almost certainly doesn't understand that he's been sent as a means of manipulation. He's been sent because V needs to be convinced quickly, before their brain deteriorates any further. Arasaka surely wants V to be as "complete" as possible, and after testing V for a bit they've likely concluded that V's engram needs to be made quickly. That is why they send in Takemura and have him offer the deal for free, it almost comes off as a favor from Takemura rather than a contract from Arasaka.
So it is good writing and you could even say Takemura is brainwashed, but he is not a sociopath. He is struggling to come to grips with the idea that everything he thought he knew and everything he ever fought for could be wrong, that Saburo may have been a bad man for some time even if he saved Takemura long ago. He in set in his ways and has on rose-tinted glasses.

Would be a lot more popular if terrorist/rockstar/asshole Johnny Silverhand wasn't played by a certain beloved actor to all of us😂😂.
Who's your favourite character and do you think we'll see more of Takemura in the DLC?

Won't lie I thought Johnny meant 'dude's fucking dead don't bother' as in he already died. So I bailed as fast as fucking possible leaving Takamura to die in my first game.

His loyalty and goofiness make people think he is a good guy or even cares about V when in the end he is just a corpo dog. Can you even imagine the fucked up shit he did before the game as Saburo’s bodyguard?

Might be a little unfair of me, but I'm entirely on the side of Johnny when dealing with Arasaka. Done nothing but screw V over, might as well burn it down. Owing someone your life might be something I don't understand, but to me it feels more like Takemura holds it over you and expects you to do what he says.

TLDR: Silverhand was right, Takemura is a dumb, loyal lapdog.

23:07 Is it me or the female voice acting for V doesn't sound good/realistic (not that the male version is too great)

nooo I feel the opposite I played female V the first time and every time I hear clips of male V i cringe bc it sounds campy and weird, maybe its different if you play them from the start idk.

I like him and he was a street kid like V but at the end of the day he is a company man so I don't regret leaving him to his fate in that building

Guess I'm the only guy that prefers to play with male V Panam is the best girl but Judy does show more emotion in some instances.

Panam is the verbally abusive impulsive girlfriend that only calls you when she needs something and like expects you to drop all your shit for her and never gives you anything in return but you let her get away with it bc shes hot, lmao people get up in arms Takemura tells you to rot in hell if you litterally destroy his life but Panam will tell you to rot in hell if you kill yourself or make her unhappy befor the ending too and I've seen no one address that. Panam can be so toxic but shes hot and thats 90% of why shes likeable. I didnt feel alot of chemistry with Judy and River was okay but it was super rushed, you do 2 or 3 sidequests with the dude then you get the option to sleep together and he basically asks you to marry him the next day. I havent played out Kerrys route yet so idk how that is, but yeah I felt like the romances were pretty lacking, I felt the best chemistry with Takemura and Claire lmao.
