V selling out Panam to Saul is kind of hilarious in retrospect; for all of the warnings that both V and Saul give about the plan being dangerous, stealing the Panzer is one of the few scenarios in the game where a character does something drastic that ACTUALLY works out really well and without heavy casualties.
I mean, it's the battle hardened veterans who support Panam, probably because they're not cowards.
Also, I'm tired of people equating apathy with rationality.

To not act is making a choice.
It's not so much a betrayal, but if you do a lot of Regina's gigs early on you'll get the hit job against Jotaro Shobo, a Tiger Claws high up who has lots of backstory you can read in shards about him trafficking and making XBDs of hookers. If you do this before doing Judy's first Clouds gig, you can use the fact you've killed him to talk Woodman down in an unlocked dialogue option, ending the conflict peacefully by scaring the hell out of him. He's even nice enough to unlock his private elevator for you, letting you exit the club instantly.
There's probably loads of things like that dependent on the order you beat missions in, but they're often so subtle you'd never know unless you happened to do multiple playthroughs as differently as possible.

I did three playthroughs, my first two on the 2.0 patch and my latest on the 2.02 patch. I love cyberpunk but I desperately need another game to fill this void. I have a ps5 and pc, and prefer action heavy games like elden ring and spider-man 2. I cannot see myself playing top down or turn based like diablo or baldurs gate, which leaves me with basically no options lmao

You can get the same senario if you choose the corpo lifepath, you mention an arasaka higherup she has relations with(hint hint) and how much he will fuck him up if he finds out evelyn isnt safe

I think that the main culprit that most of these aren't widely discussed is Rockstar. In many of their missions, if you deviate even a bit from the track the mission fails, so it created a subconscious instinct in most of us to do as the game says without thinking outside the box.
True lol this is pretty much the only game where you can leave mission objectives and have actual consequences for it. Or at least I don’t know of many games which work like this…
This game was unfairly compared to a lot of Rockstar titles on launch. While it was a seriously rocky time, there's a lot this game does much better than RDR2 or GTAV. As you said, most players would expect to follow one route and one route only, so a lot of the complexities and alternative endings in this game went over others' heads.
This game may not have great interactions with generic NPCs, but it delivers far more in the narrative in both main and side quests, which is what's important. I'd rather have a game where the major choices can play out in a number of exciting and unanticipated ways than a game where you can flip off NPCs and they give you a Marvel-esque one liner about how they would take a selfie with you.
Long story short, Rockstar may do the "little things" better, but they seriously fail to deliver in terms of player freedom, expression, and ability to choose outside of a railroaded narrative.

I love the subtle differences that can occur with different choices, really adds to the replay ability of the game. (I'm always going to make the same choices.)
Edit: Interesting thing to point out, in the Claire quest line, she can only save Samson if at the dam, V told Claire that they're only in it for the money and not the revenge, otherwise, if you didn't say it at the dam, even persuading Claire will lead to her killing him.
i had that happen! picked all the "no don't do it" options to convince claire it was an accident and claire just goes "i don't care" and shoots him. figured there wasn't actually a way to save him after all lol.

I have almost 300 hrs in the game and I've never done the Claire questline...even with 2.0 I still hate the driving, all the cars feel like shit

ive spent so much time on the game to get every possible ending and so many possible different dialogue options or quest choices and stuff. its amazing if you really figure it out.
When the game trusts the players to be curious and explore options without it grabbing them by the hand, you inevitably get some of them assuming those options weren't there in the first place just because they didn't even attempt to look for them.
This is why they are called creative risks, but I'm glad mainstream AAA titles are willing to take those risks. It is great to be able to discover new things after 200 hours
yep so many things like w/ smoking earlier after Ev's death you either automatically smoke if you indulge Johnny earlier saying you got addicted offscreen with different dialogue empathising addiction. Or if you don't Johnny begs you to smoke. Which is so subtle but such a small detail.

If I had a dime for everytime I've seen people screech "this isnt an rpg, choices dont matter" by someone that probably played the game running around like a headless chicken skipping dialogue (or let's be real they didnt even play and are just going by what the youtube clickbait posted at launch) and then have the balls to post how the game is linear and nothing changes...

The cloud independence plan had to be one of the dumbest ideas in the entire game. "I'm sure one of the most powerful gangs in night city will just let this open act of defiance slide."
I know there were so many better ways. Just tell the dolls what woodman did, or just kill woodman and let it go. Or atleast bring MOX backup after taking over.

Don't forget that the original Cyberpunk 2020 was the peak of the 80s-90s dystopia genre. You can't fix society. You can't win. You rarely break even. Most of the time you have to work and fight tooth and nail to lose as little as possible. 2077 actually is more optimistic than the source in lots of places

well, they should fear V at that point since they pretty much comited like 2 or 3 masaccres already agains them and killed like 6 big fishes if you did the regina missions

I know the game had it's fair share of problems at launch, but to me the depth of the story is what shined through. I'm glad the game has come around and people are appreciating it more. Phantom Liberty here we go.

I only started playing the game when dlss 3.5 came out and im seriously loving the game so far. Theres the odd bug/hiccup once in a blue moon but its seriously impressive what they were able to pull off with this game. Im so glad I waited a couple years after the bad launch and got to experience this game fresh with DLC on the horizon for me to play. I don't know how many times ive said to myself 'how does this game look so good'.
It really is frustrating. I usually seethe hard at unfinished games and the state of the market allowing such things to happen, but I can't help but forgive this one. Great story, excellent main characters, lots of fun shit to do otherwise. Now if they'd just work the bugs out they've somehow reintroduced. Baby steps.

"Fair share" is one hell of an understatement. this company flat out lied about the games performance. it was so bad on consoles that sony removed the game from their store and gave everyone who owned it a refund. people need to stop pretending like cdpr is their friend and they deserve a second chance, cyberpunk WAS the second chance. everyones forgot how bad witcher 3 was at launch. no one should forgive this game ever, or they will do it a third time

I didn't like how 'betraying' Claire works out. After she manipulates me and then tries to get me as an accomplice in her ill thought out revenge killing i'm suddenly the bad guy, i think there ought to be some kind of way to talk her round while just completing the race

@@williamwolfstein6170 NC is a hellhole lol, irl I would have taken Miltech deal in a heartbeat and enjoyed a cushy desk job in NUSA and got to actually enjoy a place with some greenery rather than smog, grime and dust. Being a Night City Legend is one of the more meaningless things when even as a top merc you're still just a pawn fighting corporate proxy wars surrounded by people who are just waiting to screw you over for a step up and at any time traveling the city you could get abducted and scrapped for parts and organs by any number of gangs. This is assuming you don't just die on a job or after being betrayed which is what happens to V pre-engram.
Claire went from one of my favorites to my most hated character. Like bitch I told you, I won't end Sampson and will only race to win, why the fuck are you mad?
And it's a shame that you cannot make Claire get fired from the Afterlife sooner, when she starts to refuse serving drinks. Rogue is the owner and V / Johnny is hanging with her, so I would love to have the chance to see her being fired and being replaced by Brendan or Dum Dum lol.

You don't have to kill Brick to get the Jackie approved outcome.
Just don't meet up with Militech, blow Royces head off during the deal and make it out alive.
What happens to Brick has no impact on Jackie's dialog, so you can actually save him.

There's some really good sh*t in here I didn't know existed. For the Afterlife conclusion of Claire being absent, I'd assume she'd heard that V is the new owner and went "Yeah I'm not working for that b*tch" and scrammed.

Actually many of them make no sense. For example: another transport landed on the roof to bring reinforcements, but why not instead taking Hellman to safety?
I had no idea the All Foods quest has an outcome where nobody shows up at the end. I have 500 hours in the game and many playthroughs. Wild!! Great video I hope we get more breakdowns like this !

First playthrough I did, I didn't call and just killed all the Maelstromers in the flathead room, missed out on Royce's Boss Fight because of it

Theres another small ending with Claire and Samson. I think it depends on what you choose earlier in the scene but theres a chance when you tell Claire not to kill him she'll walk away towards the street saying "You're right V but maybe you're not" The kills Samson. Its prettty funy ngl

That happens when you don't deny that you're helping her end Sampson. You should say not what you signed up for she tells you why she was racing. If you support her, she won't spare him.
You have to choose "Was it really murder" when she first tells you about Samson or she will always end up killing him.
its earlier in the quest line, if you tell her youre are in the races to win them and not for revenge you can convince her to not kill sampson, if you tell her youre okay with the revenge you wont be able to fully convince her and this is what plays out.
Youre easily the best cyberpunk creator and its not even close

As someone who always liked the game despite its issues and has come back to night city for a 4th time after update 2.0, seeing just how in depth choices and decisions always were is so cool. Cant begin to imagine how much work went into the video
It's not only possible to betray most characters... it's often really hard to avoid doing so! 🤔
Your attention to detail is unmatched
The 1 problem I have with the Jablonsky crucifixion thing is Crucifixion isn't a short term death... it could take days anything up to a week. Its 100% excruciating. The pain would be so bad it will cause you to dislocate your own shoulders which will further add to your pain... eventually breathing will be so painful that you'll stop breathing! But this is not a short process other than your hands and feet being nailed and your body being stretched to its max. Its when you breath that its difficult in the end you'll die of suffocation due to your body not willing to breath!
My headcanon is the corp inserted a killswitch to kill him quickly so they could roll the BDs out sooner, they could extend the duration of suffering via editing to make it feel longer than it actually is.

If you ask me, Claire was one of the few who was already a betrayer. The only character I outright don't feel bad whatsoever "betraying."
She was driven by nothing but revenge because of a death in a *death race.* Far as I'm concerned, she is one of, if not the *only* character who deserves her bad ending.
Same, I don't like racing or driving especially in cyberpunk cars. So I ignored her and won because if I'm going to be forced into doing these quests I'm going to be the best.

Sinnerman is honestly a mission I didn't know actually could succeed. That pickup is so horrible to drive that I've never been able to successfully follow the car in question.
It's amazing how often you can just do the Irish goodbye and the story just processes with the characters you pissed off.

Yep, you can walk away from conversations and people react to it how cool is that? Now compare to the rdr2 missions where if you go 2 steps to the left of where rockstar wanted you to be you get a mission failed screen? Yet one game is still hated by a large amount of people and the other is lauded as the second coming of jesus. (I really like both games to be clear).
@@pinnacleevolution1634tbf, people hated cyberpunk for the way it was released early and bugs weren't patched through, making the game terrible to play. Now that the patches and dlc dropped, its getting a lot of attention. Also, everybody agreed that the story line was really good even though the game was buggy

They weren't kidding when they said they invested into the possibilities within this game. Maybe this is why the game had rough gameplay launch, but extremely well thought branches of storyline.
I used all of these in my "Worst Cyberpunk Run EVER" playthrough. I find it amusing how many of these are just "run away from the scene" lol

fun fact, if you choose to knock out Royce with the body check dialog the game will treat it as if you sided with maelstrom with Anthony being there at the end. This will get you the cred chit, Royce's pistol Chaos, and fucking over Militech.
Thank you so much for making this video and really going in-depth with it. I've seen some people criticize the game for its lack of choice and consequence in regard to the quests and characters. While Cyberpunk 2077 may not have as drastic of consequences as a game like Baldur's Gate 3, its way of communicating the choices you've made is done in a wonderfully subtle and foreboding way. The game makes you reflect on your decisions and what they might mean in the long term. Which if you ask me, fits the cyberpunk genre perfectly.
Great video. I have the feeling that most "betrayals" and how they play out are basically mechanisms to more or less ways of locking yourself out of later content. Not always, but in most cases. But especially in the cases where main characters are involved.
Love how you can get the bad ending for Claire’s mission with how you respond at the end of the prior mission. If you’re gun Ho with getting revenge, she’ll kill him, no matter what V says. But if you’re only in it for the race, she’ll listen to more pacifist options
The only reason I’m willing to spare Sampson is so I can get his car for free.

I got the worst possible ending, idk if my dialogue was wrong or what. I explained to Claire that I was just in it for the race but failed to talk her down, she kills Sampson anyways and is pissed at me.

I had my issues with this game, still have my issues with this game after Phantom Liberty and 2.01 dropped. However, Sinnerman will stick in my mind forever as probably the most unique and well written quest in any game I have ever played. It's the one thing I think I will never forget about this game, ever.

Basically not, since in some quests, especially in Phantom Liberty, showing compassion can result in neutral or worse endings. Like Aaron quest where suggesting to fight fair will result in him being beat to the death in some alley

Another fun thing about Claire, well kinda sad actually. If you never talk to her or take her quest, by the end of the game, V doesn't even know her.

@@VORASTRA lmao it’s possible I’ve done it. A good bit of time passes from the first time you meet Claire with Jackie, to the very end of the game. If you don’t talk to her at the bar after you’re revived and you don’t take her quest, you get the dialogue at the end of the game as you walk through the afterlife to talk to blue eyes. Obviously doesn’t work if you do the aldecaldos ending, and I think it only works if do the ending with Johnny/Rouge and V takes the body. Rouge wasn’t at the bar so I know I didn’t do the reaper ending. Not sure if there’s unique dialogue if rouge is there.

I was like "wow Baldurs Gate 3 has so many options to play" and didnt even know about this. Im suprised honestly. Game changes itself according to your choices.
Same goes for BG3 right? Choices matter more there. But imo Cyberpunk has more depth to those consequences
@@Hamsterdamned Depends on how you play BG3 cause there are some choices you can make to make the game have this "canon story" feeling.
I think CP2077 is lite on the choices matter and more mainstream. Like the choices still matter but its more chill.
BG3 is like DnD but a video game. So its literally "well you killed this NPC that I planned for you to meet later so... hes not gonna be there".

I am pretty sure you can talk Claire out of being mad, if you win the race. I recall wanting to win (because I presumed a big reward) on my first run. And don't recall Claire getting mad.

Stuff like this is why I always have argued that Cyberpunk has way more "choice and consequence" than people give it credit for, it just gives it to you in a subtle, more realistic way.

I had a strange outcome for the Claire’s one. I talked her out of the killing thing but she then turned back, said something like « I dont give a fuck » and killed him anyway?
yeah, there is a stupid dialogue option you had to pick after race number 2 or 3, on the ledge where el capitan usually hangs out. if you didn't pick discouraging words there, then she kills sampson regardless of what you say.
You have to tell her you're only in it for the race and not the revenge after the third race or she kills him regardless.
We do need these videos cause almost noone saw that in the game as we all try for best options. But it's nice to see what the other way is
I have an issue. I told Claire NOT to kill sampson but after turning around she says something and then shoots him anyway. I only did her quest once but I don't understand why and how it happened.
There's a dialogue choice from after the third race which influences her actions. You have to tell her that you don't want to help zero Sampson. Followed by 'okay, i'll still drive. But only to win.'. V then commits to driving and states they won't participate in an execution.
Sinnerman also has a few lines that influence the success or failure of the BD but not sure which exact lines.

You have to be critical about the whole 'I-only-race-to-kill-that-soab-to-revenge-my-dead-husband-thing' in previous dialogs, just choose the more grounded options.

I always try to see Sinnerman through to the end, it’s such a weird questline but in a fascinating way. It’s funny to picture V going along with literally crucifying a guy all while going “Man this is bonkers what am I doing?”
Love seeing you back one-dragon you are so smart and have such an incredible knowledge of the game its the most out of any other you-tuber who makes 2077 videos. You also have a great eye for details and are able to string subtle and complex things together and explain them in a cogent manner. Cyberpunks depth is insane...I kinda got locked into my usual routes specially the one at all foods I missed out so many stuff, but yeah even more reasons now to replay once again! Great video man!

in my first playthrough i got all the ''good ends'' cause everytime i cared about them and when i do mistakes i go back a hour ago and fixed it lol :D even now i remember i cared that much that played 3 more hour again just to save some side chracter in side story it was worthless of course but in the end i played the game i loved 3 more hours and i was in peace knowing i chose good options not good but best
The mission where you chase Hellman bugged for me, got the guard to tell me what i needed to know but still had to do it the long way.
i never realised how many layers this game has, so many options that we have yet sont even try to do since we are just looking at what the objective says

Actually for the all foods mission you can still save brick and Jackie was still say the same line about not being depth to anybody
