    New trainsets for Amtrak Cascades are coming soon, and they will replace the Talgo’s & Horizon cars.

    That locomotive in Seattle you didn’t know what it was, it’s an F40PH
    It was the type of locomotive that was the main state of Amtrak before the P42s came along.
    When Amtrak retired most of their F40PH, they saved about a dozen of them and gutted the locomotives. And turns them into what they call Cabbages. so they run a currently working locomotive on the other end of the train, but they still have the controls in that locomotive so they can operate the train from that end. So it’s still an operational locomotive it’s just it doesn’t have its own power anymore.
    Thanks for an updated review of this. I’ve taken the cascades from Seattle to Vancouver BC and back back in April 2018. So it’s been a little bit, and it’s interesting to see that it’s still operates pretty much the same.
    Except when I wrote it, they brought me up in Superliner cars, and I was able to return to Seattle on one of the Talgo sets that are now retired

      Ahhh ok. I wondered if it was a full engine since I noticed the baggage compartment. Thank for the information. Thank you for watching too.

    They used to have eight Talgo trainsets, but they’ve retired six of them. They still have two roaming around as far as I know.

      Such a bummer they are retiring them and not these old passenger cars

      @NickP16 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@mattsmoments2 the six that were retired were the faulty designed ones. There was a crash in Washington in December 2017 of the Amtrak cascades.
      It was the inaugural run on the point defiance bypass route, there was three deaths from it as well. It was determined those cars were not suitable anymore.
      So shortly after the derailment, the VI series were all retired. The two sets that are VIII are still roaming the rails

    Are there any seats with tables?

    • @mattsmoments2
      @mattsmoments2  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Only tables I saw was in the cafe car with this particular train set. If it’s a full train and you try to claim a table the conductor is likely to ask you to leave unless actively eating and drinking. I didn’t see it be done on this one but other trains I’ve been on. Not including the long distance trains that run east and west

      @mattsmoments2  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @shipseyj towards the the ends of each train there’s sometimes a set of four sets. Two each facing each other.

    They gota do better than microwave food on a 8 hr ride...you know a fat guys gota eat😂. Keep on riding and flying Nef-U👍

    • @mattsmoments2
      @mattsmoments2  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Sadly on most trains microwaves is all they have. I think just the longer haul trains have better dining. But only for sleeper car passengers. I hope to experience that soon

    • @NickP16
      @NickP16 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@mattsmoments2 on the western long distance, trains, if there’s space they will offer it to coach passengers again. To be able to experience the dining car, but at a price.
      It varies train to train, before lockdown crap, they let passengers who were in coach into the dining car. No problem. They’re slowly reinstituting that.😊
