Awesome car, I've had a few, and I wished I'd never sold them. Such an easy car to own and live with, most things you can fix yourself and you don't need a laptop and a degree in computing to find out stuff. Just hearing it start warmed my heart, I do miss a Golf Gti in my life.
Love the colour. My dad and I 84 on a b plate, and an 88 on an f plate. He had a black run out 16 valve in black but didn’t like the 16 valve, he preferred the 8 valve as it felt more unburstable. His 1988 8 valve went with 176,000 miles on the clock, used as his daily for over ten years and very often driven hard. He once drove it to the French alps four up, and said the car was the best he’d had doing the same journey, doing 36 to the gallon on the motorway, and a riot on the mountain road.
@@ameliaautomotive Ever seen the Citystormer version ? and fun fact the large Tesla drive unit will fit in the front of the mk3 which is just a rebodied mk2... I`ve also seen them powered by Prius motors...
Those alternator tension bolts always sheared even on when they were not very old. It’s best to copper grease on install then loosen off very 6mths keep sprayed with white grease retighten.
Awww just found your video, this looks so nice and original very very little rust etc, the interior looks mint very rare, the color in green is perfect, cant wait to see more videos on this Golf
The exterior is important but in the end all you want is to drive it, so if it's in a good mechanical condition, then drive it all day long. I prefeer standard or as long as you refit the standard part, like an exhaust system or headlights maybe:)

Thank you! A lot of people prefer the 8v to drive. Lovely history you have with them. They’re fab cars!

Amazing car, brilliant colour.
Really nice that is, I’ve got a mk2 GTI myself, it’s an 8V 1989, I love it, I’ve done so much work to mine
Nice video! I'm in the process of getting my jetta back on the road this year. Looking forward to seeing more progress with your golf!
My favorite car too. I'm excited to watch this build!
The epitome of a hot hatch! Look forwards to seeing what you do with it next year 😄
Great cars, that’s given me some motivation to get mine back out 😊
Good luck and will look forward to the next installmemt.
Awesome! Thank you. Is it a MK2 as-well you have? 😊

And i don't think leaving it under a tree/bush is a good idea 🤔
I know it needs a cover really. Can’t part it anywhere else unfortunately!
