Welcome to Our French Chateau! Don't forget to subscribe and like!
I've seldom seen anyone more in need of an ATV or golf cart - with a trailer. 😘I can't imagine carrying out the trash in the rain or on a cold day. Plus, you could haul your tools. Love all your animals. You are living my dream!
Just read your comment. Lol! I wrote similar. Atv or utv, dont know what they’re called these days and a portable electric generator (camping type) use to charge up all electric tools and emergency back up esp living in the countryside.
Don’t be discouraged by your vegetable garden. You can’t be everywhere all at once and you have a beautiful salon and master bedroom to show for all your time and effort. It just proves you’re human, just like the rest of us😊
Gardening takes practice. Your soil for carrots needs to be looser. They don’t like lumpy oatmeal. Well who does. That’s what makes them fork out. Also planting the seeds too close. Mix sand in your soil. Mix sand in with your seeds to dilute them.
I still say this is the best French chateau TH-cam channel. Keep it up, and know that the donkeys are famous divas now, and yes I think they know it. Hope Lincoln's health has been good!
never seen donkeys as clean and as healthy looking as yours … even their eyes are clean …
Your grounds are looking so beautiful in today’s video, with Autumn in the air and your lovely dreamy music . You must have to pinch yourselves sometimes waking up in such an incredible place !
I love that your husband is so positive or rather sees the good in the bad. Is he as calm and assuring as he seems on video? You are funny and he is calm and serious. Am I right. This seems like a good combination in a relationship? You are both courageous to me. Living a dream. Taking the better or for worse and seemingly still in love. I commend you both and pray you both are able to finish what you dream of doing. Thank you for giving so much love to the little homeless critters. You both have a big heart. God bless you
Your ghastly garden looks beautiful. I’m 77 and didn’t get anything planted this year. Always love when you feed the donkeys bounty from your garden. TFS your beautiful home and gardens. ❤😂
The allee is so beautiful....especially in the morning, in the mist. As for your garden, with all the hard interior work you did this summer......who has energy left to garden. There is always next year! The donkeys are just the cutes! They love their veggie and fruit treats! Trees.....glorious trees! Cheers!
Your chateau and grounds are so pretty! I love seeing all the animals that share your home and grounds.
Love your humor. Hardly an episode goes by when I'm not giggling at something going on or at what you've said. And I love those donkeys and all the other pets, too.
Even when the garden isn’t at its best, I snap little pictures and draw and paint them in journals. I always add a quick donkey in the corner to remind me not to post them since I don’t have your permission. I really love the funny carrots. Good to hear you all so relaxed. Take care as you all make ready for fall and winter.
Can you create a PDF of the sketch and gift it to Amanda? She can frame and hang it in the chateau, especially if it has a donkey.
I commend you for being considerate of your animals. I love your channel!
Dominic is not so appreciative of the snacks. "Don't touch me! Just because you bring treats doesn't give you privileges, lady!" JK! I noticed that they hear you coming or know the time & come to greet you, much more than they used to😊 I hope you're keeping up on handling their legs for the farrier😂 Maybe you can be in the mindset that "Due to a bad season, we are letting the garden go to seed so we won't have to sow seed next year & be a step ahead"😂 Amanda, you've not mentioned the girls ages, perhaps when they become interested in boyfriends, they'll pick farmers sons & you can incorporate a "date my daughter" test? Go straighten out the Jardine😮 or a carpenters son test. Know that it's not "child labor" if you don't pay them😂 Your home is coming along nicely, it's just that there aren't enough hours in a day😢 ❤‼️
I am always in awe of your allée. The morning mist in your park is magical. These are moments which probably make you never regret moving to France and buying your chateau.
Amanda, you have a beautifully renovated La petite salon, and your master bedroom doesn’t look like a travesty anymore it looks modern, lived in comfortable and stylish. That’s why your garden looks like it’s had it. See you were able to salvage something out of the garden. It’s not like you didn’t do anything all this summer. You’re very very busy. And this winter you’re going to be enjoying your la petite salon in the master bedroom. The donkeys look so happy. Thank you Amanda and Lincoln.
The drone shots are so beautiful. Fall preparation is a lot of work. The trees are beautiful. There is a lot of maintenance, I know. Those wild boars can really tear up your place. Don't be ashamed about your garden. You still have some good veggies. The donkeys are adorable.
You have my sympathy with the garden. We have had a similar year, a large indoor project that grew and took longer than expected and a neglected garden. But we will get it back as will you and we can glory in the lovely garden spaces. You have done so much this year give yourself a pat on the back and don't beat yourself up. ❤
Some fabulous shots in this vlog especially the moving clouds captured by drone. Your abundance of open land is priceless. The walk that Lincoln takes with the dogs and garbage is the most gorgeous way to start the day. Your avenue of trees is the best I have ever seen. Lucky you!!
Growing up in my childhood home our backyard had a ton of trees, even two weeping willows which did fall. My mom would say she loved the trees, but that they were so much work. I am grateful I had this though in my youth, one area we would call the woods and play in it like we were wilderness children ha ha. Wonderful memories. We just sold my childhood home 2 years ago, mom and dad went to heaven.
The most charming chateau! It's beautiful and lovely. God bless you, family, for such incredible job 🫏🫏🐈⬛🐈🐕🐕🥰
Let's see what fun you are up to this week!
Thank you Amanda and Lincoln for sharing your Bretagne journey with all of us. I enjoy watching your videos and enjoy your humor.
Owning, restoring & daily maintenance of a chateau 🏰 is certainly NOT for the faint of heart ... Love your TH-cam channel ❤
Votre potager sera magnifique l'an prochain, c'est sûr !
😊
With major inside projects completed and beautiful, you'll soon get your gardens and tree management up to speed. We just started daylight saving here today in NZ. Springtime for us.
Your 3 legged dog is so happy! He's living his best life! I rescued a little Maltese dog from the shelter in April. He was my birthday gift to myself. His name is "Lefty" because he's missing his left ear. He weighs 5 lbs and he is happy, sweet and loves to cuddle.
What a beautiful person you are.
Love, love your filming techniques. REally enjoy seeing the pets and how well you care for them as well as the chateau. Keep it coming guys!!
Thank you so much!
I can relate to how much care trees need if you want them to remain healthy. I'm fortunate to have slightly less that an 0.5 acre and on this plot there are 3 Willow Oak, 1 White Oak, 1 Red Oak, 1 wild black cherry, 4 Sweet Gum, ( I hate these) several dogwood, a half dozen or more holly trees, several sassafras, and some small maple. I'm frequently calling on the tree people to come and trim the branches that are likely to come down during a storm and sometimes think I should have some cut down, but then I'm reminded of the wild life they support and the fact that suburbs are losing the remaining small patches of woods at an alarming rate.
Wow the tree lined drive is something out of a costume drama
You've mentioned you are not keen to have volunteers but if you fixed up a portion of a barn with acommodations and a small kitchen etc ( so the volunteers don't become part of your household) They could care for the garden and at least get it going so you can eventually maintain or just enjoy.
I loved this video! The beautiful scenery shots are so lovely!! I love trees, clouds and the sky just like you! Don't be too hard on yourself about your garden, the wonderful thing about gardens is there is always a chance to start again next spring!
An unattended garden is always sad. However, once you 2 finish more and more rooms, you will have the free time to build it up even more beautifully as it is when the beds were all full of good stuff. Don’t be hard on yourself: you both have done SO much and I just love the style you have brought to each project!
Love the sound of the donkeys munching carrots and apples and really appreciate that they chew with their mouths closed!
Fun video! The cloud images are wonderful. Thank you.
You are a trained chef, have you thought about filming a meal that you make for your family? I think it would be fun. Love your channel
The drone shots truly show the magnificent property you have! All the tress and the stunning wide open green spaces against the old out buildings. You truly found a jewel with this chateau and grounds.
Please see if you can somehow get an ATV. It would save you so much time with your wagon hooked up to it.. the people I know that have one, would never give it up once getting one.
It is a true worker of a machine. Perhaps a used one?
Those donkeys simply melt my heart ❤️
Great plan for removing growth on top of walls of the walled garden! That is an extremely hard job!! You are doing an amazing job with your Chateau and grounds, marvelous job!
4:07 - Guava (did I get his name right?) loves that particular hole in the lawn! He's always caught on camera scratching at it. Wonder what is down there?
11:18 - The two pieces of wood...they are still there! What do they mean???
❤ your home and land, great filming
What an awesome aerial view of you chateau and park. It’s beautiful. Dom and Uvea are so sweet. I love watching them crunch on their carrots and apples. 🫏🫏
Donkeys eating carrots and apples are my favorite thing. Love the one ear up, one down.
Congratulations on your wonderful filming- such a delight.
I love your Chateau it’s such a nice size. The grounds are so beautiful and I know it’s a lot of work but it’s so peaceful. Life happens doesn’t it… and sometimes our well planned gardens go to pot. I had the same this year as my husband had surgery. While he recovered I had little time and it pained me to watch my gardens suffer. The weeds … so every time I went outside I pulled 10 weeds, it helped . Yes I’m looking at all the bulbs I want to plant but many are “ out of stock “ because of my procrastination. Family first. We have inside work projects to finish as well …our kitchen renovation. On hold for a bit due to the surgery. Like Lincoln my husband does the carpentry, electrical etc. Stormy here in NY . But when the sun comes out it will be beautiful. I love and appreciate your kindness and care for all animals. Keep those hunters out ! Electrical fence for hunters ? So Amanda here’s to better gardens in 2024🍂🍓🍐🍎🥕🥔🍷love your channel.
Awe!🤗 Those donkeys are so cute!!
Do you ever watch “gardeners world” with Monte Don? (a British show)
He dosen’t thin his carrots out because then the “carrot flies” can smell it for literally miles away!😮 His carrots look pretty much like yours🥰
Fairly new here...love the beauty of the place and your chill demeanor. And the donkeys!
Keep being amazing keep posting and keep reminding yourself that you’re living the dream, and it will pay off tenfold in the end as well as give you amazing memories in the intern
Your garden still did better than mine and I look after mine every day! At least you know what will survive with minimum care❤
The walled garden is still beautiful! I believe you are going to find after everything goes to seed and breaks down and composts over the winter, when spring and the warmer weather arrives, you are going to see a bunch of volunteer fruit and veggie plants emerging. How fun! 👩🏼🌾🌻
As always I love your videos. Love your beautiful long tree lined driveway. A gorgeous picture.
I love the donkeys. I look forward to seeing them in your videos.
The cinematography and music was beautiful. Thank you for sharing.
With all the work you do Amanda don't be ashamed of your garden. The donkeys will have a treats all winter long.
You spoil those donkeys. Too kind.
It's not just you. It was so hot this past summer that I just couldn't make myself work in the garden, plus I had a full time job. As the weeds took over the beds, I became so embarrassed that I couldn't face my plants. I felt like a failed parent. I avoided sitting on my patio. I'm retiring and have hopes that I will become a parent. This may be delusional. Everyone I've talked to seems to have had a bad yard summer. BTW, love your trees. Thanks for pointing out the sequoia. I had noticed it earlier in the video as it towered over everything. Breathtaking.
Glad I’m not alone!
I can feel the crisp air and smell the wonderful autumnal scents already - you have a knack for filming that evokes all the senses! As always, love your videos.
Thank you so much 😊
Your editing and commentary are outstanding. Thank you for your videos. DA
The drone footage is a beautiful addition to your vlog.
I love your channel....both of you are so pleasant. There is a good mix of renovating, animals, gardening and humor. I get such a kick out of the donkeys and love their ears as they tweak back and forth and especially love the sound affects or effects (can never remember) as they chew!!!!. A delightful channel!!
I too just love to browse and drool all over seed catalogs and dream of buying, planting and reveling in their blooms the next year.
really need to have that footage, chasing the hunters away; ' I was just casually day drinking when I heard a noise.. and before I could take the rollers out of my hair I saw Lincoln out the corner of my eye running out the door with the blunderbuss, ciggarette hanging off his lip, he quickly.. '
You guys should consider getting a used golf cart. It’s a must-have for a large property. Have a cargo bed installed instead of a rear seat.
You shouldn't be ashamed of the garden. There isn't enough time in the day to both renovate the house and maintain the garden. Just consider that you've rested the soil for your fall crops to thrive. The house will be finished at some point and you will have more time for the garden. And yes, I love the garden catalogues that are like being in a candy store offering all the treats not offered in the local shops. Thankfully, reality does finally hit me and I bring my imaginary garden in full bloom back to earth knowing I don't have the space to place all those gorgeous blooms.
Don't be ashamed of your veggie garden! It might look a bit of a wreck at present, but all that could be cleared up quite quickly over the autumn and winter - ready for next year! That's what I love about gardening - there's always next year if something doesn't go so well this year. And yes, I spend hours poring over seed and bulb catalogues in the autumn!!
Your choice of music is spot on. Relaxing. I always look forward to the next one. I’d say you two have the IT factor.
Thank you very much!
You’re awful hard on yourself. Look at all you have both accomplished in the small time you’ve been there. Kudos to you!
I often wonder how you manage to keep on top of everything and showing the garden is the reality. The veg has still grown and I am sure will make a hearty soup xx
We all share common successes and trials whether we live in a chateau or an 800 sq ft, cottage in Kansas. Your garden looks just fine - it's just a sign of weather or lack of time. But you got some veg and maybe next year, you'll get more. I love the donkeys, and especially love listening to them crunch on carrots. Be kind to yourselves and don't apologize for those things that fall a little short!
Hi Amanda and Lincoln. I think you have one of the prettiest lands around your Chateau. I just love the Donkey's and dogs, also the kitties. You will have next year to redo your garden; you were very busy inside the Chateau this year. I can't wait to see the Chateau at Christmas; it's going to be so beautiful. Thanks so much for sharing. Love from N.Y.
Don’t worry my garden has suffered this year too, lots of rain so not been able to get out there to tend to, we’ve had the worst summer since 2007 when the weather was bad then, UK ❤
Those donkey ears! A language of its own! Must still be quite warm as Lincoln is wearing shorts for his „garbage walk“ with the dogs. Here in the Southwest of Ireland the weather is so so yukkkkk today (and yesterday).
Your garden isn’t that bad!! Lol. And remember we had a terrible growing season. 🥵 hot
The allée looked particularly beautiful in the mist.
Looked like a still life painting.
Your property is stunning - both inside and outside.
Look forward to your videos each week.
Maine USA
That look on Dominic’s face at the end was priceless 🤪
Great opening! I wish I could (briefly) be a fly on the tree trunk watching you chase hunters off.
Autumn has definitely arrived here on the south coast of Finistere, although today we're having a bit of warmth and sunshine. I'll be taking advantage of it after this video to take a walk.
Beautiful photography! The jobs you got done over the last few months will not need to be done again and your garden had a soil restoring sabbatical. It's all good.
Amanda, I laughed out loud at your description of chasing off the hunters!😅 love your sense of humour. Feel a bit sorry for Lincoln when you're trying to banter with him, though😄
Great time lapse.
Feel the same about our garden, due to having a new hip right when the weeds were thriving in our rainy July/August here in the uk - so frustrating! 😊
Such beautiful scenery and beautifully photographed. Thank you for sharing.
Have you thought to bring in Volenteers ? They can do some of the heavy lifting in the garden and you do the fun stuff like looking at seed catalogues.
Love the grounds, your donkeys ad all the lovely work on the inside of your chateau. ❤
I just love all of your animals.....you take such good care of them!
We use five cords of seasoned wood for a 3500 sq ft home in New England. That’s a lot of wood. Stay warm this winter!
Some years are like that, just no time to maintain a garden, yet it still yielded some bits. Donkeys are a cute way to close out this video.
Gorgeous scenery , As New Zealand is now in Spring , we had a very cold winter here one of the coldest for years which was good as all my fruit trees are in flower . So France and the UK maybe in for a real cold winter so more firewood the better .
lovely as always. I do envy your dogs having all those grounds to roam around in. My dog would love it but alas he only has a small suburban garden.
I've got to say when I first came across your channel I thought Lincoln's laconic style would be a bucket of ice water for any content you guys would go on to create.
I was wrong. Combined, your self deprecating humour is both totally unique and very welcome in this category and make all your videos way more worth watching than other chateau renovation channels on TH-cam. It's totally understandable but a pity your videos aren't longer!
Thanks for sticking around :)
Don’t be ashamed of your garden. You have completed some big projects inside the chateau so pat yourself on the back for doing all of that work. You can’t do everything. I think you need a golf cart with a wagon to get around the property, and what a stunning property it is. The surrounding land is gorgeous too. I love your channel, the sweet animals, land, buildings and your style!!!
How is the spray neauter release of the cats going?
Would also like to know?
It's going well! Several of the cats have already been "fixed" A new one has appeared...
You always make me laugh! The animals are amazing (and so lucky)! My favorite from the chateauverse!
Love the garden vids
Film if you go shopping please
I love your carrots! So much better when they are unique! ❤
I hadn't realised really how much land you've got. It's alot to look after and I remember you've done a video in a forrest where there used to b a lake I think.
I'm also really curious to see your out buildings. The architecture looks so nice.
I know you were saying you feel sad about your garden being neglected atm but look at what you've still managed to grow.
It just goes to show these properties had alot of servants to help run it.
Y'all definitely need some kind of cart, like they would have on a farm or ranch. It would cut down on walking time.
I feel your pain with your garden! I’ve hurt my back and have watched my whole garden and yard suffer this summer! It’s time to put it all to bed and get ready for winter, but it has become a hot mess and overwhelming to tackle! Good luck to both of us!
I can't get over how gorgeous your driveway is....wow! Pear jam! I just made several batches of Pear Jam and it is delicious! Well, with all you have to do other than the veg garden you're doing better than I am! Those donkeys are so cute!!!!
Enjoy your vlogs. Your place is so peaceful. Take care of yourselves and enjoy the beautiful home you are making for your family🤗
Přeji mnoho sil oběma jste skvělí. Zdravím z ČR
I wondered how you managed all your home repairs, exterior lawn garden maintenance etc, and flowers & garden!
Trees are maintenance but they are so worth it.
Love all the videos and always look forward to what is coming next. The garden will have it's turn to be as beautiful as the inside of the chateau. All in due time!
BEST TO YOU
Great veggie haul anyway! And remember you can make carrot greens pesto too :) Lots of uses for the garden produce still, even if overgrown!
