Fate/stay night: Unlimited Blade Works
We learn that UBW is Archer's Reality Marble, and the chant speaks of his own life. It was impressive to see him speak to Saber in a friendly yet sarcastic way, saying "I wish I had never become a hero."
Gilgamesh uses the word Faker to mean "fake" or "counterfeit". Because what he stores inside the Gate of Babylon is the "original" and the "real thing".
11:32 Reality marble is a magecraft. The pinnacle of boundry phield's so to say.Obviously heroic spirit's abilities due to their legend's are not limited to one thing and just because they had a reality marble doesn't they were mages in life(Alexander's reality marble were given to him because he was famous for having the mightiest army in history)....but Archer's case is apperant to Rin because she already saw his life in dream's and knows that he doesn't have a legend on his own.
Me reading title of a video: Rin:Archer class is really made of Archer's.....
8:30 Shirou wasn't suplying Saber with mana AT ALL due to her imperfect summoning so under him she has rely solely on her own power plus what she was able to gather by sleeping, eating and staying at place of her summoning...
Yeah. Saber always had to deal with this handicap through the methods mentioned, as Shirou lacks the proper connection to supplies her mana.
And i guess that as result of the tortures of Caster, Saber was left in a too weak state, making that she had that spend the little mana that she had to heal herself back from the constant tortures of Medea, leaving her too tired and too weak to fight Archer.
But once that she made a contract with Rin, a proper Master, Saber become the most powerful Servant in this Holy Grail war.
11:35 Rules of using Reality Marbles works very differently for Heroic Spirits and regular human beings. Servants can use them because reasons. For humans it`s nearly impossible to make one - it`s quite literally alien concept for human understanding. Aslo, in Fate\Zero book Iskander said when he first time used his RM that "he got helped with that"
I believe there are only two other confirmed Humans with Reality Marbles. Those being a character from "The Adventures of Lord El-Melloi II" and a character from FGO. However the low amount of users isn't due to "Alien concept" but rather that it's the peak of Bounded Fields and forbidden by the Magus Association.
Here are some quotes from some Material:
"Originally referred to the alien common sense possessed by the beings called devils, but now also includes the unique boundary fields possessed by many people."
"It is the sorcery closest to magic, and a forbidden art within the Association."
"Properly speaking, reality marbles are only supposed to be used by elementals and devils, but given enough time it is possible for some advanced practitioners to complete a sorcery to give shape to their personal imagined world and create a reality marble of their own."
@Lucaintheninjatank I remember reading somewhere that Shirou is like 7th human in history who did that.
I think it's so rare more like because there are not that much mages who are ready to spend about 100 years to MAYBE learn one weird and forbidden spell
@@BekindBekbek Yeah basically this. It probably doesn't take 100 years but any time spent on it would usually be considered a waste since it isn't a route to the Root and it's a unique magecraft that usually can't be passed onto your descendants. (Kiritsugu's family being an exception here) Oh yeah and it being forbidden of course.
Not only the pendant, but also the issue with the clock. Remember when Rin used magic and the clocks in the whole house turned back a few hours? Both the pendant she was wearing and the wrong time served as a catalyst to summon an atemporal servant.
You can definitely watch the opening by now, every spoiler from the op was already revealed.
This has got to be the best reaction to the main lore bomb drop in UBW I've ever seen 🤣. This reaction to the entire series so far is my all time favorite right now. Keep it up 👍👍
I still feel kinda bad for Caster, she was betrayed, died, kinda betrayed again by her first Master and betrayed once more by Archer 😂
I would feels pity for her, if Caster wouldn't tortured and humilliated Saber, to reduced her like a toy.
Because Caster would simply used a second Command Spell to enslaves Saber inmediately, but instead, Caster chose to see how Saber was suffering constantly to be resisting the first Command Spell, to the point that her mind was melted away, according the VN. Without count that Caster treated Saber like a doll, to forced her to wear a wedding dress, only to satiates her sick fantasies, showing how sadic and cruel is Caster.
Don't get me wrong, i respect that others feels pity for Caster's fate. But for me, it was a satisfactory moment see her demise, as Saber was finally free from this torment.
Archer being Shirou, or EMIYA(yes it's officially in all caps, nobody ever explains why) is one of the OG "this makes sense, but it also makes this ridiculously complicated" things in Fate. Hell, not just fate, but the Nasuverse as a whole.
Yeah, we didn't know it in 2004 when the VN originally came out, but Nasu was gonna make us say that A LOT with his stories.
Just wait until you learn about the Moon.
We don't talk about the Moon.😂
I guess it`s because in Japanese his name was written in another alphabet (katakana instead of standard hiragana, or something like that, not a specialist honestly) and it`s hard to find a proper way to do similar thing in another languages. Not the first time. Just remember all Shiki and SHIKI from both Tsukihime and KnK

Regarding the condition of Saber, after be free from Caster's control and before make a contract with Rin, exist some differences in the versions of UBW.
- Visual Novel. Despite to be weakened by the lack of mana, Saber was still capable to summons back her blue dress and armour, adding be capable to wields her Excalibur sword, to tries fight Archer.
- Ufotable anime (2015). Saber to be weakened by the lack of mana, that she barely could wields her Excalibur sword, but wasn't capable to summon back her blue dress and armour, forcing her fight Archer in wedding dress.
- Deen movie (2010). Saber was so weakened by the lack of mana and tortures of Caster, that she wasn't capable to summon back her blue dress and armour, nor even wields her Excalibur sword, forcing Saber to uses one of the spare swords of Archer to tries fight him.
Hey, you finally got it! And yes, different timelines. Rin didn't have a Relic, she was banking on summoning a Servant through her own magic power and the fact that there was no one more qualified than her in Fuyuki. However, she was wrong. It's impossible to summon a Servant without a Relic/Catalyst, but in her case, the Relic was with the Servant, not with her. The pendant both of them had acted as a bridge, allowing her to summon Future Shirou. And regarding Avalon, that's one of the changes made for Fate/Zero, you do, in fact, need a contract with Saber to use Avalon's power. It's why Shirou stopped healing himself automatically once the contract was broken...
I don't think thats the case with the Avalon. If it doesn't work without a contract, what's the point of giving it to Shirou 10 years ago?
@@Baxmut. Good question, I also don't understand that part. But you can see in UBW that Shirou didn't heal himself completely this time. Perharps the way it worked was that, Avalon was a functional NP in Zero due to her contract with Kiritsugu, and was given in a functional state to Iri/Shirou to heal them. After that, Saber disappeared and the contract was cut, thus rendering Avalon useless. When she is summoned again, her link to Shirou turns Avalon functional. When the contract is destroyed, it became useless again. The Avalon is currently not in Saber's possession, but in Shirou's, so the contract became necessary. Or it may have something to do with Shirou being an amateur. Maybe Iri knew how to supply Avalon with mana to activate it and Shirou doesn't, so he has to rely on the contract. After all, Shirou himself does not know about Avalon...
@@DTSJ1990 You may have misunderstood something, but it may be explained as the episode progresses (I will avoid spoilers). As for the end of F/Zero, Saber ran out of mana and disappeared before Kiritsugu found Shirou. However, you can imagine why Kiritsugu gave Avalon to Shirou. It may not have been effective in that situation, but Kiritsugu tried desperately to help Shirou by giving him whatever he had.
Just a few things in fate you are born with a certain mana level you can never increases it (their are a few exceptions ) however Rin is from a prominent mage bloodline so yes she has more and better mana
The Pendant is also the reason why Archer always gets summoned by Rin in the 5th Holy Grail War. If a mage has a catalyst they can summon a specific servant, but without a catalyst the grail summons one randomly. Rin was trying to get a Random Saber servant because she didn't have a catalyst, but because she uses the pendant while summoning she ends up with Archer instead.
I was expecting an hilarious reaction but somehow this was even better than I thought! 😂
Archer said to Saber he can replicate Excalibur, and yeah Gae Bolg too. Pretty sure he's not even limited to weapons, he can project whatever he wants. However even he does copy Excalibur or Gae Bolg he probably won't be a master of them like Saber and Lancer who are really mastered them. Also yeah Excalibur uses a lot of mana.
He's a jack of all trades, master of none but very versatile. Like the fact that he uses a bow and two swords, plus he doesn't have a pride which can sometimes refrain the others Heroic Spirits to do some actions like betray someone.
I don't think Archer can really replicate Excalibur. It is a divine construct like EA so it is beyond his understanding. I think the best he could do is something that looks close and with similar power, and the replica could probably only explode.
Adding to that, Archer's projection is very much limited to swords since his origin was twisted to sword. Even Emiya Alter in FGO who uses guns has to project swords first and then reshape the swords into guns.
@@gzzhongqi Spoilers here so watch out
My man archer in extra uses it like every fight so he can easly do it and ko himself with saber also like in the normal ending in hf literally shirou copies excalibur to destroy the grail and he can replicate it bcs of his close connection to saber from what we know he cant replicate EA bcs EA predecess a concept of a sword " It is something that does not appear in any modern legends, crystallized during the Age of Gods at the beginning of the world. It is the primordial sword that is the actualization of the works of a god recorded before humanity came into being, and it is that which divided the formless into distinct heaven and earth in ancient Mesopotamia. It is a Divine Construct created by a god, unable to be replicated by Unlimited Blade Works, and its status as a unique existence means it cannot be reproduced in any way"
@@Xenosix spoiler
I agree whether Excalibur can be projected is not very well defined. Nasu did say in interviews that Archer can't project divine constructs, but in reality we get a mixed message from the franchise itself.
Extra is a special case since it is in mooncell, and even then Archer can only create Excalibur Image, not Excalibur itself. He can only project something similar but not the original.
As for the NE, the sword Shiro projected was never named. I remember it just says something like the strongest holy sword or whatever. Even if it is Excalibur, I imagine it being similiar to Excalibur Image where it is an imperfect copy.
Then there is also Prisma Illya where Chloe projects Excalibur and calls out the weapon's true name. I guess that does mean it is doable with help from the grail and near infinite mana. However, these are advantages unique to Chloe being the lessor grail. Archer is just a second-rate mage with very limited mana. I imagine it would be hard for him to pull it off.
----------------------------------
I mean but he did it in extra "Under normal circumstances, Divine Constructs such as Ea and Excalibur are non-replicable, although there might be some degraded Noble Phantasms with similar performance in stock. However, due to the close relationship EMIYA had with Artoria in his past life, he can project Excalibur. Although a weapon of such rank cannot be perfectly reproduced, he can get it close. Even in this case, projecting it would kill him" and yeah i mean its called projection and he's called faker for a reason but he can get it to almost perfect copy and i would assume that in straight hand to hand saber vs archer using excalibur he gets bodied but when he usues excaliblast its pretty much same as saber i guess depends on mana but you know and in hf like what other sword could he imagine that would destroy grail like he never even saw EA but in whatever case he cant replicate that he olny saw rule breaker herc sword, archer swords, and saber excalibur so the obvious choice is excalibur
He does replicate the skills of the original wielder. Presumably there will always be a gap in his skills due to not having the same body as the original wielder though.
Saber letting archer get away is wild, yes shirou is ARCHER from a diffrent timeline, they are not from the same timeline but is still shirou

It would be an interesting outcome that Caster would messed Saber's contract, and she would made that the Wedding dress become the default Servant outfit of Saber.
Meaning that she couldn't summon back her blue dress and armour anymore, at least for the remaining time of this Holy Grail war.
And after made a contract with Rin, Saber could simply summons some plate armour above her wedding dress, giving her a different battle outfit, more childish and innocent.
Though that as drawback, to be wearing a poisoned dress, this could cause that Saber's stadistics become reduced, making her weaker in this terms. But with a better Master like Rin, Saber can still compensates this handicaps.
Unlimited Blade Works isn't archer's noble phantasm, he doesn't have any. Noble phantasms are manifestation of an heroic spirit's myths and legends, and since archer doesn't have any due to being from the future he has no noble phantasm.
He says that his reality marble is his noble phantasm because the concept of both are pretty similar, with noble phantasm being the manifestation of your stories while a reality marble is a manifestation of your inner self.
It's similar to Assassin's Tsubame Gaeshi. It's not classified as a noble phantasm it's a skill possessed by him.
Yeah, based on atchers threat of projecting excalibur he can definitely project gae bolg. Or at least a 99.9% accurate gae bolg.
to summon a servant from the future you use something that is not yet a relic but will one day become one.
haha there's no way it really took you this long to figure it out lol
Some reactors didn't even realize it until 2 episodes later lol, he is much better than those people
@ky8252 yeah, i know he is that's why, its just funny to see his realisation, he even caught onto the duplicate necklace from way back when
So while it's definitely made more obvious in the VN, the anime does a pretty good job foreshadowing this twist all the same. Archer and Shirou both having Rin's pendant at the same time was always the biggest give away anyway.
Hahaha, finally you realized his identity 😂
Basically the Unlimited Blade Works has the copy of the weapons of every hero in history that's why Gilgamesh hates Archer and calls him a faker.
Because Gilgamesh Gate of Babylon has the original weapons of every hero in history.
Archer has no mana so all he could do here is throw weapons with no mana which makes them hollow constructs and not Noble Phantasm.
That's why shirou could defend himself.
And Yes Archer has a copy of Cu Chullain's Gae Bolg and King Arthur's Excalibur on his Reality Marble
Not really. The weapons Archer fired were not hollow. The only hollow weapons he makes are divine constructs
@@blink14k
You can see in Typemoon databook.
In the data book has the list of some copies of weapons stored in Archer's Reality Marble.
and there are divine constructs he copied and stored in his UBW, like Excalibur, Vajra, Sul-sagana, Ig-Alima and even Harpe(the weapon that denies immortality that Gilgamesh and Perseus have).
he used divine weapons(especially Excalibur) in other fate series like in games and mangas.
the copies are not strong like the originals but close enough to be a menace.
@@SoufodahXX Vajra is not divine. He may ha Excalibur but a Hollow one. Same as Ig Alima or Sul Sagana. The only divine weapon he can trace perfectly is Avalon and even then he lost its image after the 5th war. Any kind of divine weapon is hollow, even if they are stored inside UBW
He can broken phantasm a divine weapons to raise its power, but thats it. And the one in Extra CCC was an error that Nasu allowed ONLY if it was downgraded
UBW only has copies of what Archer has seen.
