    I new the resolver had to be timed to the rotor but I never new how it was done. Thanks!

    Great video ! ground over to V and positive on U but if the cables on the motor are not marked how do I do so? and is there any test equipment i can buy where I can connect my resolver 6 wires and the 3 Phase brushless motor? Thank you in advance

    Great tutorial, but I have one question: If you put back the resolver rotor 180 degrees off, you would get also the same flat line, since the sine signal has two zero crossings for one period. Couldn't be easier to mark with a dremel?

    First of all, nice hair cut :). Second, thanks for the video.
    I have a servo and removed its sincos encoder. Now I'm installing a magnetic encoder. The new encoder is simple. Align the rotor to its UVW zero position then reset the encoder by shorting two pins on it. That's all. I don't have an o-scope. Is there a way to find the zero position of the AC servo without using an o-scope?
    Thanks in advance

    I have a moog servo motor, it just only lock on three positions not in 4 like others motors with I worked formerly, other extrange thing is back emf, normally get two cycles each half cycle from sine or cosine signal of resolver, in this motor only get half cycle of back emf by half cycle from resolver signals.
    Resolver and servo are 6 pole.

    Thanks for your valuable vedio.
    Sir, i watch your vedios and learned from them. Our work shop is in India Delhi.
    We deals and service In induction motor, brush and brussless motor, tacho motor etc. We now interested in servicing servo motor. We need guidance for buying oscilloscope, encoder, resolver and for how much channel will be needed. And how many more instrument will be needed.
    Thanks you Sir

    the old Modicon 410 servo drive has a Personality Setup to be checked and tuned when the drive or motor was changed out or good parts could be changed out all day long and still no worky... thanks a lot...:)

    Hello my friend. I’m facing a hard problem with a Jetter JL3 motor that uses resolver as feedback. I disassembled the resolver before documenting the position. Have you ever documented the position timing of this before?

      Hello Sir, I hope that you are having a good day. A very good friend of mine came up with this method of aligning resolver to servo motor. I hope it helps you get your resolver mated to the servo motor. Click here for the video. th-cam.com/video/8aHJLuvl6vg/w-d-xo.html

    Great documenting tutorial, I like it, Sir, Can I ask you? In this case you use 2.05A and 5VDC in power supply to lock the pole motor position, how can you determine the power needed to lock the pole position? Whether is it based on the motor power on nameplate or something other? How can decide the power needed to lock the motor pole position for different kind of motor power?

      Hello Sir, I wish that the voltages and currents were based upon science and physics. But no... A very good friend of mine... He must be near 80 years old now. Said do this... And ever since... I have done without question what he has said... Happily, he has never been wrong. Thank you very much for watching my video. I hope you are having a good day.

      I will say this... Servo Motors are rugged devices. And a few amperes will not do them any harm...

    • @PeepawMcDonald
      @PeepawMcDonald  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      With that in mind... I must have boundaries imposed upon my work. So the rule of thumbs is to never exceed the "full load ampere" rating of the servo motor.

    • @PeepawMcDonald
      @PeepawMcDonald  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      And an external power supply that reside on most bench tops will not exceed the voltages and currents of the servo motor.

    Hi sir. If i have to remove the rotating transfomer from the shaft of motor. Should i need make a score make between both of them.after i change the bearing. I reinstall them again with the right score make.

    • @PeepawMcDonald
      @PeepawMcDonald  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes Sir, you are correct. The score marks will help you correctly align the rotating transformer to the shaft of the servo motor :)

  • @dannyecuatoriano
    @dannyecuatoriano 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hello Mr Peepaw Can I just mark the shaft and resolver and when i put it back together i will just match the two lines? (thanks )

    • @PeepawMcDonald
      @PeepawMcDonald  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes Sir, absolutely. Many times we receive a servo motor who's bearings are bound up. And we cannot rotate the shaft of the motor. And we scribe (or mark) the resolver to shaft alignment. This is a last resort for us, because I would rather know the rotational / electronic alignment. But sometimes what can you do:/ Great question. Thank you so much for stopping by:)

    Congratulations, sir. I have a problem, the servo motor came to me with a removed resolver. How do I set it up when I'm not documented its original wiring. I have a functional generator, power supply and oscilloscope.Can I power volts between two of stator windings ,no matter which, to lock the rotor. And then spin the resolver to find the right position. Best regards.

      Hello, a good friend of mine derived this documentation on aligning the resolver. So I made a video of the documentation. I hope it helps you to re-assemble your servo motor. Thank you very much for watching.

      Please watch the video in TH-cam full screen mode when you take your screen shots. Otherwise the hand written print will be to small to read.

      One note I must stress. If the rotating transformer has not been removed from the servo motor shaft. I would leave it be. As it is probably in its correct position on that shaft. Of course this is just a guess.

    • @3kbulgaria389
      @3kbulgaria389 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately there is a problem with a bearings. In order to change, the bearings resolver should be removed. But it is not done measuring the original position! Tomorrow I'll try to set it up. I
      will lock the rotor and start rotating the resolver. I will try to find
      a flat sinus and maximum peak of the cosine. I will write what
      happened.
