@Spinner773 I'm really glad you found this video helpful. Portugal is a great choice for your first country to visit. I hope you are able to make it to Portugal soon! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts! 🙂
Thanks for the feedback. 🙂 I wasn't sure if people would prefer that I just stick to videos of the sights and scenery. Glad you let me know what you think. Maybe I'll keep doing these for each destination. 🤔
Congratulations 🎉 on your new slow travel journey! We are 4 years away to retire early and plan on doing the same slow travel journey. Keep the videos coming. So glad we found your channel!! Stay safe!
Hey there, thanks! Your slow travel retirement journey will get here before you know it. It did for us. Appreciate you watching and commenting! And we will definitely keep them coming. 🙂👍
Hey Seattle! We are missing the temps you are having there right now. You are about 20 degrees cooler than what we had here today. 😅 Thanks for watching and commenting. 🙂👍
Thanks for sharing your experience in Lagos, we were in the Algarve for a few weeks last year and throughly enjoyed the trip. Have a question about VPN you are using. I find it very frustrating browsing the internet while connected to VPN as it blocks many legit websites prompting constant gotcha bot detection, site can’t be loaded etc. garbage. In some cases I disconnect from VPN to complete my search. Do you have similar experience? Thanks
Hello, I rarely have this problem. I have my vpn running all the time on every device. Occasionally I will get prompted to check a box or do something else to confirm I'm not a bot, but most of the time I have no issues when surfing the web while my vpn is enabled. I use Nordvpn and so far, so good. Thanks for watching and commenting.
@@vistasandvibes Thanks for responding. Generally speaking I don’t use VPN while connected to my own network at home or on my cellular network. Currently I am with Proton, perhaps I should switch to Nord once my current commitment is over. Have a great day.
@@Northern_Squirrel yeah, I never used to have VPN running when I was connected to my home network, but now that we travel full-time, no more home network. 😅 So now I'm always connected. Hope Nord works for you if you switch to it in the future. 🙂
Yeah, I was happy with how it worked out. I did book the Airbnb about 3 months in advance and that helped with getting a good rate. And we will usually stay at least 28 nights to get a monthly discount, which most Airbnb hosts offer. Thanks for checking out our video and commenting! 🙂
It seems like the monthly number is always higher than the typical "youtuber" says it's going to be. I'm sure though as one gets more acclimated, it's easier to keep within a particular number. That's a nice budget too, btw. We could do that. Good post.
Yeah, when we first started looking into doing this, we saw some couples on TH-cam coming in around $2,500 (or less) per month. I knew that was not realistic for our "desired comfort level". I'm hoping we can come in under $4,000 per month, but some months may be higher (in higher cost countries) and some lower (in low cost countries). I will continue to do a cost breakdown video for each destination we visit. Thanks for watching and commenting. 🙂
Yes, I brought the Amazon Fire Stick that I had been using at home in the US and it has worked fine for me in Portugal and Spain. I do have a VPN installed on the Fire Stick so that it thinks I'm still in the US. I use NordVPN. So far, so good. Thanks for watching and commenting! 🙂
I do use the actual Airbnb site (and app) for booking our stays, so far. If I come across a better option, I will definitely mention it in a future video. Thanks for watching and commenting. 🙂
Great videos and while I don’t think my wife and I will sell everything and travel full time, when we do travel in retirement (3 more years) we want to do longer stays.
Did you get a monthly rental Airbnb? The price you paid seems quite reasonable, so I’m wondering what time of year it was and if you got a discount because you stayed a month. Thanks
@user-ww3sl8qt2u Yes, we got a monthly Airbnb rental and we stayed there mid-May to mid-June 2024. We booked about 3 months in advance. Rates definitely go up in the summer, so best to book early if planning on being there in Summer. If you book an Airbnb for 28 days or more, you often get a significant discount, but the amount of the discount is up to each host. This is part of the reason we will be doing "slow travel" - so we can take advantage of these monthly discounts. Thanks for watching and commenting. 🙂
Hello. Your video was very informative. Any chance you can give a reference or contact info for us to call if we want to stay in that area. Its beautiful. Thank you in advance .
Hello, here is a link to the Airbnb where we stayed: www.airbnb.com/rooms/50596294?viralityEntryPoint=1&s=76 The Airbnb host, Elsa, manages a few other properties in the area, so you could reach out to her through Airbnb if you would like the links to her other properties. Glad you enjoyed our video and thanks for commenting. 🙂
Pode ter outra forma melhor de viver. Há muitos locais, onde o custo de vida é bem menor. Não me imagino a partilhar essa experiência, sendo negócio, desta forma. Felizmente, vivo num país pobre. É horrível só ouvir falar em dólares! Felizmente continuo pobre e estou velha. Não percebo estes vídeos
There are many people who want to travel to these places and are curious what the current prices are, so after spending a month in each place, we post a video to inform them of the current prices. We will definitely be traveling to lower-cost countries later this year, but we decided to start our travels in this part of Europe. Thanks for commenting and offering your perspective.
I can definitely relate! We are in Madrid now, and it's almost as hot as Seville. 😅 We love Seville, Madrid, and Lagos, but Lagos definitely has the most comfortable weather. 🙂
I have never traveled to another country and I want Portugal to be my first so I really appreciate this video

We didn't, but quite a few of the other tenants used it. We were usually out and about getting in our 15,000 or so daily steps. 🚶♂️

Sevilla is the hottest!!! Place in Spain. Not for me!
