One of the reasons Transformers and Optimus Prime will forever be relevant is because it's just so fucking cool! It's vehicles that are also robots! Generations will be born, live and die but that concept is too awesome to ever lose staying power amongst kids and adults alike.
The TF series as a whole is easier to adapt with the times as a brand than GI Joe, even internationally. The Transformers for the most part is about a conflict of resources and espionage but could also be other things too like an epic such as the Target 2006 to Time Wars era of Marvel UK or a tragedy like Beast Wars’ Transmutate episode.
GI Joe is very much a series about ‘Merica and the ARAH iteration we know it as was created during the Reagan Era which came with that hyper-realism sensibility where it’s more grounded than TF obviously but there is a degree of fantasy to the stories with Cobra able to exist as an unabashedly evil organisation. The Marvel Comics is more nuanced than that summery but you get the idea.
However, I think it’s also a brand that’s very much of the 80’s and 90’s America when it comes to the attitude with what it is at it’s core. I say this because since the original ARAH series ended, it’s been living off on the nostalgia and every time Hasbro tries to bring it into the now; it always seems to struggle finding their footing with today’s audience like their TF brethren could with ease. Probably because of the public skepticism and distrust towards the military along with the government in general.
Between GI Joe and Transformers, the latter in general is easier to sell to people when the series could be shaped into anything while the former’s got that patriotic aura to it which doesn’t quite flow well with international audiences. Plus robots like the steam engine has a more imaginative allure to a child than an army man does unless it’s got ninjas.
Oh and TF didn’t have an asshole comic writer who made that tweet about 9/11 Remembrance which rightfully angered a lot of people with how he went about it to where they had a book cancelled before the first issue even hit the stands.

0:34 Funnily enough, I think that calling this out for using POV incorrectly is actually an instance of interpreting POV incorrectly. In this meme, Optimus represents the pro teammate that has returned from being AFK. The POV we are seeing from is that of one of his teammates, witnessing Optimus return to save us from a losing position. Of course, you could argue that the "POV" is still being used incorrectly here because the shot seems more like a cinematic one than the view of someone witnessing Optimus coming to the rescue, but that's a whole other discussion

Kind of sucks that some think that the definitive Optimus is the Bay one at its most violent and bloodthirsty, like Im okay with him existing but he should not be the one definitive Optimus, we can do better and preserve his core ideals of being an actual idealistic hero with moral standards and comforting wisdom.
Strip that away cause its somehow seen as unrealistic or stupid you'll have nothing.

@@ignite5329 Exactly but I think he's too much of a professional and nice guy to not play Optimus when he can, probably for us fans.
Least the latest director balances things out better in that he can fight and kill, he just doesnt relish in it cause to him its a last resort and in a war being necessary to protect those under his care.
Works better wheb he is visibly upset and greiving by something like in ROTB instead of Revenge of the Fallen when he's suddenly constantly insulting everyone as he butchers and mutilates them. That is the kind of uneccesary loud action character Larry warned him about.
The most intriguing thing I find about the TF series is the depiction of war, battle for resources and greedy nature of beings. As we all learn about these things growing up this series stands up in our eyes.
And there's the fact that Optimus is such a good character, he has this sense of dignity to him which makes us admire him.
And the characters are just iconic with their designs and colours schemes which make them stand out from any other sci-fi robotic characters we come across
And this generation grew up with the Bayverse movies is also a fact for it's popularity.

It is such an incredible scene as optimus just fights his way through cybertron, even more incredible he managed to fight his way out while being surrounded by over 10 enemies, truely optimus still stands.
I think one of the reasons this song is paired with Optimus in the meme is because one of Optimus Prime's most iconic quotes is "One shall stand, and one shall fall". Optimus is still standing.
To me the meme is also a bit of appreciation for primes voice actor Peter Cullen. The man is 81 but he gives his all in every project regardless of quality.

Lemon pie recipe
On a lightly floured surface, roll dough to a 1/8-in.-thick circle; transfer to a 9-in. pie plate. Trim to 1/2 in. beyond rim of plate; flute edge. Refrigerate 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 425°.
Line crust with a double thickness of foil. Fill with pie weights, dried beans or uncooked rice. Bake on a lower oven rack until edge is golden brown, 20-25 minutes. Remove foil and weights; bake until bottom is golden brown, 3-6 minutes longer. Cool on a wire rack. Reduce oven setting to 350°.
In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, cornstarch, flour and salt. Gradually stir in water. Cook and stir over medium heat until thickened and bubbly. Reduce heat; cook and stir 2 minutes more. Remove from the heat.
Gradually stir 1 cup of hot mixture into egg yolks; return all to saucepan. Bring to boil. Cook and stir for 2 minutes. Remove from the heat. Stir in the butter, lemon juice and zest until smooth. Pour into pie crust.
In a bowl, beat egg whites and salt until stiff (but not dry) peaks form. Gradually beat in sugar until soft peaks form. Spread over pie, sealing edges to pastry. Bake at 350° until meringue is golden, 12-15 minutes. Cool. Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
The 30 second version is better than the 20 second one, the song drop along with the classic Optimus jump is absolutely sick.
