Pro Materia tip for hard mode: Pray + Chakra + Haste all maxed out gives you full party & self heals for ATB bars instead of MP. It can work with any character but if you put them on Barrett with maxed out Barrier + Magnify, Binding + Warding, and First Strike he becomes the ultimate healer/tank.
So for harder fights, do u start off with Barrett casting barrier/warding to all. Then heal as needed? How effective is his AI when you don't control him?
Ricky Ng I use this set up too, and I control Barret most of the fight, swapping out for quicker ATB gains and big stagger hits on Tifa and Cloud. Works pretty well, breezed through most of hard mode so far
Ricky Ng Exactly that. With First Strike you start every fight with a full ATB bar, so I start the fight as Barrett and caste Barrier/Manaward/Manawall on everyone immediately. Then Overcharge gets me like a bar and a half and I’ll use his Lifesaver ability and Haste, then switch to one of my two others to deal damage. With Lifesaver on Barrett absorbs like 75% of all damage to any party member, so all you have to do at that point is keep him healed up and pretty much you’re good to go. Haste keeps his ATB charging fast while not using him, so when Barrier + Lifesaver runs out (or you need to use Pray or Chakra to heal to save MP) he usually has atleast 1 bar and then an Overcharge fills up the second one.
Pray + 2HP up + 1or2MP up + heal with magnify on healer + revive + (element coupled with either fire/ice/light/wind (put this on armor depending on fights)) + first strike will get you through most of the fights without much problem if you know what you are doing. Binding + warding is very nice but not all the time. The ideal set up is to preserve MP as much as you can till the end boss fights otherwise you might have to start all over.

You probably talked about this in another video, but another pro tip-using tifa’s star shower will will buff the attack that comes directly after. So when you throw on dolphin fury right after you can get even more insane damage!

You can also level up insanely fast and farm some gils by repeating rank 2 challenge in the Corneo Colosseum in chapter 9 after killing the house boss. They are all human enemies so equip Magnify/Fire Materia for Aerith to cast AOE Fire spells and it should one shot almost all of them. Cloud can equip Elemental/Fire materia to clean up the rest. Magnify and Elemental materia can be found in chapter 6 and 9 respectively if you have been searching all areas thoroughly. You should be able to complete the challenge in 10-20 seconds each in easy mode and a little longer on normal mode. I recommend doing this on the easy mode as normal mode offers exact same rewards despite tougher enemies. This is also a great chance to lv up and max out your Materias. You can continue to do this at chapter 14 if you miss the opportunity in chapter 9. I haven’t found a quicker technique to clean up higher rank challenges to be as quick as this but I will update if I can. Each attempt with this method grants 2302 EXP and 45 AP for the participants. Non-participants will receive only 1844 EXP.
Another really good materia for this farm method is the synergy materia, you can have both characters with first stike materia and any enemy not killed by the AOE fire can be hit with the synergy fire from cloud. I was averaging about 15 seconds to full clear all 5 stages.
For anyone looking to slightly cheese the Wack-a-Box Moogle medal reward, you still get a medal for a score of 0. This means you can start the match, let the time run out, watch a few JorRaptor videos and grind out some rewards for doing nothing
Lol to be honest, I think it's working as designed. They said a participation reward is the medal, so I'm guessing starting the game counts as participation even though you don't hit anything.
@@jakstheoneandonly moogle medals are infinate anyway, you can ALWAYS get them from breakable boxes and I ended up with WAAAAY too many to even care about without farming them I was breaking boxes in hard mode for the MP regen and kept getting them even though i didn't care anymore..
Slight bit of information: For the box mini game, you can only use braver, and whatever ability your weapon has - So if you want Triple Slash, you have to have that weapon equipped. I did it with the nail bat so you can definitely get by with just Braver.
A little bit under 50 is doing everything on one play-through. I got over that because I wanted Bahamut and I had under leveled magic materias. Maxing out rise is a grind even with AP up. Grinding that out put me over 50
For hard mode just use hard edge with deadly dodge and only destroy the 2 big boxes in your way because there are time boxes in each new area and infinity blade will destroy every box it hits so it takes out both big boxes faster than any other combo I found of abilities or attacks. Made it to the very end and had almost a minute to sit and wait with no more boxes at the end of the map. The large groups of small boxes give more points than a big one and deadly dodge allows you to essentially destroy an entire stack in one roll move
Magnify materia is the new “All” materia perfect for barrier wish there was more than 1 especially the elemental materia wish they multiple like in the OG after you max it out :/
I’m only here to say this: Did anyone else lose their shit on the 3rd phase of Jenova when the OG music kicked up? GOOSEBUMPS! Sorry I just need to share it with someone. Lol
I was too in the moment a few times to recognize the music sometimes. I picked up on the Jenova fight music near the end. I did lose my shit when fighting Beck for the first time and then again when I saw the one I always thought was a orangutan from the OG.
Try doing the shinra vr in hard mode in chapter 15 or 16 and you get an item that gives you your limit break at the start of every battle and it recharges 2x faster after using it. Chadley gives it to you just beofer entering hojos chapter
play that box game in hard mode and you get a transference module which does a similar thing but much more :3 need to do a side quest to get the hard mode
@@OG_BiggusDickus don't share your PSN ID online, someone will take it an post it somewhere else and you will have literally hundreds of messages either trying to get you to sign up for something, or straight up trolling you. Easy way to get unlimited Moogle Medals, the side quest Don Corneo's Stash, once you get the key to open those gates, go to the first one in the same area as this challenge, break all the boxes, a lot of them give you Moogle Medals, after breaking them, save the game and immediately reload, all the boxes will respawn, rinse and repeat. You can use this method to easily get a ton of Turbo Ethers and Elixirs from the Moogle shop.
I got all boxes in both wakabox challenges with cloud's hardedge and infinity's end (one strike destroys 1500 boxes) also having deadly dodge equip is very useful, makes you move quickly and kills boxes faster. And if you have the ragnarok item and refocus, start the game with that and enjoy the 3 atb bars. It's also better to leave some 1500 there early and aim for rhe clock boxes, using your atb to destroy the 1500 blocking the main path. Also maxing out atb uses by spending it right away on 1500 boxes when 2 bars are ready, even if you have to come back. I finished both challenge with zero box left and almost 10 second to spare
Easiest way to do whack a box is to use deadly dodge. The first attack after the roll destroys all the 50s, end of combo destroys all the 100s. It's a bit faster than just holding square because you can roll through stacks and bring everything closer to each other. Never thought about triple slash though. I usually just used punisher to destroy them in 2 combos.
I was on a website and I was honestly just checking if Magnify had replace the materia All and found out it had and the commenter said it was pretty much useless and that it wasn't worth using at all. I was devastated, thank you for restoring my belief lol.
Considering how easy it was to get the all (currently named magnify) materia in the original.... why is there only one in this ff7 "remake"? Anyway on to the information drop: Best way to get moogle medals is when you take control of Barrett running back and forth along the area. (Moogle amulet for new game+.) Tifa's best accessory is the converter since you'll want to be using attack commands the most and to pump up that limit break doing what she does best. Filling her with all the atb buffing materias, buff her with haste, spamming her unbridled force, attack commands, chakra, prayer. Unleash all staggering attacks on a stopped stunned enemy before unleashing her limit. Box game - deadly dodge into attack spiral - deadly dodge into punisher berserk combo followed by your choice of power attack for 1500 boxes
There's the fitbit pro accessory from the hardmode version of the whack-a-box minigame to consider. Every ATB used increases limit break, and considering how fast Tifa can build them up and blow them it seems rather tailor made for her. I don't remember the actual item name, some kind of experience transfer module or something.
Only been able to find just 1 Magnify Materia in game and just 2 Elemental Materia in game. For both I would love several more. I good video could also be all the places you can actually earn SP or easily earn SP to easily level up lvl 6 Weapons Skill having completed the game. Whether on Chapter Select, Certain Bosses, Tournament, VR Simulator or others.
in chp 14 you can play a hard whack a box where the top prize is a accessory that increases the limit gage when just using atb. so it works with abilities and spells.
If anyone is struggling in the final chapters I recommend equipping the Mythril Blade. It puts cloud’s magic on par with Aerith while keeping Cloud’s attack at a decent level due to his high base stats. By the time you reach the final boss, he will have around 90 MP and one Cure will heal 50% of his HP (Cura pretty much full heal) while his magic does a lot of damage. You won’t be in danger of running out of MP unless you spam strong spells, and you can keep yourself healthy if Aerith also has cure (170 MP combined is hard to run out). The final boss will be a piece of cake due to this, as he can’t hurt you too quickly and has some large lag on some moves. (Note that this isn’t nearly as strong in Hard mode as you can’t use Ethers and his physical damage will become mediocre by then, however it still works).
😂🤣 I didn’t even know that were more limits break. Right now I’m struggling with the three whisper fusion into Bahamut. I’m not a gamer anymore but I bought this game cause I used to play this game in 1997
You can get multiple of Magnify if you repeat the mission once you beat the game. The materia will spawn each time you start it fresh and get to that point.
Robert Clements can u confirm cuz I jus replayed Ch 6 and the original spot where the elemental material was is now a green one. I was thinking about chapter selecting ahead to get another magnify before I do hard mode but I’m assuming u can’t get any more.
From what I know there is currently only one magnify materia and elemental materia in the game (part one anyways). Magnify is acting as a replacement got the OG 'All' Materia. While there will probably be copies in subsequent continuations, only get one for now or it would be OP. Though I do miss putting All Materia on just about everything, maxing it out and having it birth a new all materia and selling the maxed for a crazy amount of gil. Probably wouldn't work with modern balancing but in the days of polygons and prerendered backgrounds this was choice.
I honestly do not see why there wasnt at least a second Magnify materia in the game, there are 2 Element materia though, if you complete all the sidequest before you go to the upper plate in Chapter 14
@@kelvinchewbl my only complain is that i feel the duration too short but you have weapon traits that increase buff duration if you go for them, plus is that is still within heal materia so pairing it with all still give you curaga all and regen all for the same buck
I'm not sure I understand this one. But i'll have to re-look at Aerith and see what this could be as someone I have less time in group party for familiarity.
Didn't use any guide on my first playthrough to not ruin the experience. When I figured out what magnify was, I was so sad I couldn't birth a second one after mastering it. =(
I don't think anyone else has mentioned this, the rewards for the area battles is the same no matter what difficulty you pick, so if you do the vr missions in the shinra building(chapter 16 I think) on easy clear them in under 2 mins it is a great place to farm AP, gil, and items. Plus the first battle fighting 2 robots is completely free and can be cleared in my personal best 32 seconds. Netting you 3000 gil every other time you run it.
You don’t need to farm gil if you plan to play on hard mode because they’ll become mostly useless/ I already have 200k gils just by playing ng+ hard mode for 8 chapters
MAGNIFY materia is closest thing to the ALL materia from FF7 original. But the ALL materia was easy to obtain and duplicated itself when mastered so you could obtain an unlimited number of them.
i was wondering if there is a official strategy guide book for ff7remake? I looked everywhere but didn't find anything i usually play RPG's with guide books but thumbs up for the video! JorRaptor you don't know but you also help me survive Horizon zero dawn thanks man like your videos very helpful
Another tip: there is another item that let's you fill your limit bar everytime you use a ATB bar. It is associated with either the moogle kid or that wack a box game
Yeah the transference module is pretty awesome in filling your limit bar during hard mode challenges and like KingArzs said it's from hard mode wack a box. Just go talk to the kids again when you get the chance later in the story i can't remember if it's in chapter 14 or earlier. Or after you beat the game ofcourse.

@@tobiasaxelson8948 I've found this to be true as well. In the same spot where its found the materia is often replaced with a Green Materia if you have previously collected it in the game thus a limit.

Lol I had magnify for a while not knowing what it was all the w hi ile waiting to find an All materia. I was like wth no all in the remake and then saw that randomly scrolling through my materia. I wish it was like the old one when you max out materia you automatically get a brand new level 1 one after. That's the best way to make money on the original ff7. Maxed out all sells for a million gil
To be honest this entire video is really not hard to miss, all of these things you mentioned are so thrown into your face you need to blind to miss them as there is a tonne of hand holding in this game.
Farming Moogle coins are easier when you’re doing some leveling. When you smash crates open it gives you Moogle coins in between beating monsters instead of waiting for the duration of time here. Further, the Moogle kid shop has a item that fully heals mp and hp. You could farm that with the coins too. However, I believe no items for hard mode so...
They hand put mareria like candy in this game. And not being able to use your summon is a pain. It randomly pops up. Then just aids you. I dunno. Im old school and am stuck with the original ff7 in my head. The game is amazing and I'm in love with it so far. Just miss some of the old ways. Haha
Adding on to the magnify materia use arith's ability that doubles the attack to get even more attacks Another good materia is the pedometer when you get the 5k steps it becomes an AP up for you materia to level up quicker
I wish the VR missions were available in a menu. I can't be arsed to go through the chapters until I can do them. As much as I liked the game, I'm never replaying it.
Hehhe on ff7 PS1 heheh I think I give aerith a magic class then tifa has healer and buffs skill then cloud is for tank and atk type Barret has dbufs and range
Pretty sure it's mentioned somewhere that only Green materia can be linked to the support materia (Blue). Oh also, you when you actually do link two materia they kind of get highlighted in the menu.
Chapter Select -> Chapter 16 -> Set game to Easy -> Equip AP Up Materia and one of the Magic up ones -> Put on Magnify + Fire to breeze through the enemies
I havn't found more than 2 MAGIC UP Materia in the game and I've looked everywhere taking my time to play thru the game. I think its a limited Materia in quantity just like AP UP Materia (1), Elemental Materia (2). Everyone wishes there were at least 1-2 more of each of these Materia. Any more of them in game and things just gets way OP with what anyone can do with mix and match.

Can i get 2nd
I did the moogle medal farming trick as well. Easiest trick to farm them.
Glad im not the only one who knew that
Great now delete it so they don't fix it
Lol to be honest, I think it's working as designed. They said a participation reward is the medal, so I'm guessing starting the game counts as participation even though you don't hit anything.
Good to farm for elixir
@@jakstheoneandonly moogle medals are infinate anyway, you can ALWAYS get them from breakable boxes and I ended up with WAAAAY too many to even care about without farming them I was breaking boxes in hard mode for the MP regen and kept getting them even though i didn't care anymore..
@JorRaptor You should do a Video on all the good items that can be stolen. I notice many bosses have good stuff on them.
The Dodge and attack takes out those boxes pretty quick too
Slight bit of information: For the box mini game, you can only use braver, and whatever ability your weapon has - So if you want Triple Slash, you have to have that weapon equipped. I did it with the nail bat so you can definitely get by with just Braver.
You only have to use the weapon until you get the proficiency up to 100 then you can use it with any weapon

A little bit under 50 is doing everything on one play-through. I got over that because I wanted Bahamut and I had under leveled magic materias. Maxing out rise is a grind even with AP up. Grinding that out put me over 50
Finished with 37hrs just earlier, getting some trophies first before I start hard mode later, been having a blast!
OMG most amazing hilarious part of ff7 remake. The gang taking the stairs so funny. PS there is a catch you get tired you can't run after a floors up
Loved it!! Hahah Barrett would be most of us complaining
There was no item there either!!! At least there was item in original.
haha, i took the stairs and equiped the podometer and went up and down till i got all the steps IM SORRY SQUAD
7:36 Use Deadly Dodge Materia, if you do it right, you can clear the entire map of boxes and reach 48,850 pts. Also, shortcut Blade Wave.
Magnify materia is the new “All” materia perfect for barrier wish there was more than 1 especially the elemental materia wish they multiple like in the OG after you max it out :/
You get two elemental materia
@@jordanandrews5686 I've only found 2 in the entire game as well looking under and behind every nook and and hidden passageway.

Did anyone else lose their shit on the 3rd phase of Jenova when the OG music kicked up?

The great videos just keep on coming, got my game today!!
play that box game in hard mode and you get a transference module which does a similar thing but much more :3 need to do a side quest to get the hard mode
It kinda sucks that materia doesn't duplicate after maxing out it's level like in the original
You don't need so many anyways. In the original you typically do that to earn gil. There's no need for that in the remake.

My score was 48850, i use deadly dodge to clean the map, i also use the hardedge's spin jump attack to clear the 1500 boxes
Ty
I love Aerith’s Soul Train ability
I miss the winning tune. Barret singing/humming it just isn't the same. 😪
I was on a website and I was honestly just checking if Magnify had replace the materia All and found out it had and the commenter said it was pretty much useless and that it wasn't worth using at all. I was devastated, thank you for restoring my belief lol.
Magnify is extremely useful. Especially on hard mode. It'd break the game to have more than one, to be honest.
@@Lord_Raptor I completely agree.
I found for the smaller boxes dodge attacking worked the best for me u get an extra hit and then he still does a wide range attack as well.
Considering how easy it was to get the all (currently named magnify) materia in the original.... why is there only one in this ff7 "remake"?
Anyway on to the information drop:
Best way to get moogle medals is when you take control of Barrett running back and forth along the area. (Moogle amulet for new game+.)
Tifa's best accessory is the converter since you'll want to be using attack commands the most and to pump up that limit break doing what she does best.
A levelled Magnify + Pray is basically the cure all materia. I think essential for someone to have this in the hard mode.
Pray already heals your whole party tho? Curaga plus magnify makes more sense.
@@TetriVolt what? i thought it is single target only XD
@@ValAllenSamonte Ive only ever used it when only Aerith and Cloud are in the party, perhaps its only Aerith and the target?
Prayer heals everyone
@@TetriVolt so that's why it consumes 2 atb. never actually tried it because i really need the regen from the cure materia.
Disorder was my go to for box busting as it got rid of the cool down switching to punisher, I think I did use triple slash to cut distances though.
There's the fitbit pro accessory from the hardmode version of the whack-a-box minigame to consider. Every ATB used increases limit break, and considering how fast Tifa can build them up and blow them it seems rather tailor made for her. I don't remember the actual item name, some kind of experience transfer module or something.
amazing tips! thanks! It's going to make my playthrough a lot more easier :D
HP UP Materia: Am I a joke to you?
terminalarch it saves a Materia slot, which means you can focus on spellcasting and other commands. But also yeah, HP materia is amazing.
😂🤣 I didn’t even know that were more limits break. Right now I’m struggling with the three whisper fusion into Bahamut. I’m not a gamer anymore but I bought this game cause I used to play this game in 1997
barrets level 2 limit break in this game is his level 4 in the original if i recall!!! i like it looks so sick!
No it doesn't. All Blue Materias in the game and most yellows are one time deals. So 1 Magnify max, 2 Elemental, 2 Warding etc etc
Use infinity’s edge for the 1500 boxes when there is 2 you can break them both with one
Magnify is really good on defensive materia like wall

Is that old version all material just changed the name???
@@kelvinchewbl it is All materia yes but with a nerf

@joeraptor awesome magic nuke tip... the magnify materia stacks with Aeriths ward skill so it fires off 6 of the linked magic materia! 🧙🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Im a total fan of clouds buster sword in this game. That and the Iron blade to me are the best overall weapons for cloud.
Yeah too bad the buster sword doesn't have the respite ability
can you make another video on the twin stinger and explain whats the best way to upgrade it, like what to go for in the sub cores
The 'all' materia is the most useful thing to find. Shame there is only 1 of them in this game.
For all of you that like the game and never play the original go get it on psn
In the OG if you max out the ALL materia you can sell it for a ridiculous amount of money, I wonder if that's the same for Magnify
I CANNOT wait for “My Final Heaven” and “Omnislash” 😆😆😆
You're confusing Zell's version with Tifa's. Zell is the one who uses "My". Tifa's is just Final Heaven.
SeraphimDragon oh yes! You’re correct sir!
One question I’ve been wondering.. why accumulate loads of items in hard mode when u can’t use them 🤔
yeah i was wondering this one too... would have been nice if they changed them to things like chain bracelet

To be honest this entire video is really not hard to miss, all of these things you mentioned are so thrown into your face you need to blind to miss them as there is a tonne of hand holding in this game.
Use deadly dodge in the box mini game, I practically ran out of boxes to smash.
I use magnify with barrier
Farming Moogle coins are easier when you’re doing some leveling. When you smash crates open it gives you Moogle coins in between beating monsters instead of waiting for the duration of time here. Further, the Moogle kid shop has a item that fully heals mp and hp. You could farm that with the coins too. However, I believe no items for hard mode so...
Man i can wait until FF7 comes to PC. Mainly because I don't own a PS4 :(
They hand put mareria like candy in this game. And not being able to use your summon is a pain. It randomly pops up. Then just aids you. I dunno. Im old school and am stuck with the original ff7 in my head. The game is amazing and I'm in love with it so far. Just miss some of the old ways. Haha
Summon is not random though, the gauge will start building up against strong enemies only, mostly bosses and minibosses.
