    I made a pickguard for my tele from a Budweiser beer can. Cut it open, flatten out with hammer and piece of wood, heat up and stretch metal a little, cut with metal sheers and drill holes. Looks awesome and might make one with coke can next. Gets a little feedback but I like that.

    I have a custom mirror pick guard coming for my Telecaster.
    Hope it looks good with the CAR finish.

    Might get a white pickguard for a relic butterscotch telecaster, give it a more old school look

    hi! i just watched your video. my telecaster has 2 screws beside the pickup. i have bought an pickguard online that has no hole for the 2 screws beside the pickup. do you think it will fit or should i buy another one?

    • @VanHoutenBuilds
      @VanHoutenBuilds  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi! You till most likely have to drill two holes into the pickguard so that you can properly mount it. Otherwise if you can't drill the two holes, then you will have to buy a new pickguard with the mounting holes.

    Hi sir...are all telecaster with single coil pick up can put a humbucker without cutting any woods on the guitar?

    • @VanHoutenBuilds
      @VanHoutenBuilds  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately most single coil telecaster bodies will require modification for a humbucker.

    What happened to the springs that came out with the tubbing

    • @VanHoutenBuilds
      @VanHoutenBuilds  ปีที่แล้ว

      I did not use springs on that build, I used tubing instead. You can use either or. It doesn't matter, they both do the same thing.

    Well, can I replace pickguard without ruining the strings?

  • @jeffu190
    @jeffu190 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    I tried replacing on my telecaster, but there is one screw hole that does not fit. Should I just leave that hole unscrewed?

    • @VanHoutenBuilds
      @VanHoutenBuilds  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can totally leave the one screw out, or you can drill a new hole if you can't see the old screw hole. If any part of the old hole is visible, then you won't be able to redrill a new hole.

    Can I use the same pickguard on a left-handed guitar?

    • @VanHoutenBuilds
      @VanHoutenBuilds  ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately you won’t be able to use a right handed pickguard on a left handed guitar due to the edge bevel.

    • @VanHoutenBuilds
      @VanHoutenBuilds  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Oh no! Don't give up on it, just keep tinkering with it and you will eventually get it! If you don't have the time to mess with it though, then take it to a local reputable repair shop or luthier.

    Annoying video and does not tell you how to get tape off the pickup when new guard is put on.
