That's a man with confidence, not someone that tells you that you can't modify your axe.

Cool vid, Tom. I enjoyed watching you replace those pickups. I love doing all these types of things to my guitars. And you're right... Squiers are just killer mod platforms..... and a great way to tinker and learn. I trick out most of my Squiers. I love Wilkinson pickups most of the time, and it's funny... I'm not a huge relic guy... but man that Telecaster looks so cool. I dig it! Cool home-made tummy tuck too. I will look forward to that vid.

Thank you! This was the first time I actually bought new pickups. I really like them. I'll probably get a few more in the future.

Good video Tom. My only practical thing I do different when I solder is to put a little flux where I want to solder. There is a saying, where flux is the solder shall go

Another great video! To be honest, I like the white pickguard better on that beige colour, looks realllyyy classy and vintage - just my personal taste. I recently performed my first ever pickup swap on my Harley Benton Tele, about 60 Euros/$ , Donlis mixed Alnico magnets, really sweet and vintage sound.. Next I am considering the Fender vintera 50s pickups, perhaps the best value out there at around 50 bucks, vintage sounds... But for now I have to finish my Harley Benton tele kit 😊 Take care!

I do really appreciate your help, pretty soon I'll be doing it to my standard Telecaster from Harley Benton , I bought Wilkinson pickups as well, so wish me luck, it is my first time and I let you know about the results. Again a million thanks. I've just subscribed to your channel.

That's cool to see how the Telecaster has aged over 2 year's and got these nice marks showing from the red sparkle underneath. Have you ever experienced duplicolor causing a shatter for the rest of the finish when damaged like it sometimes happens with poly factory one's ?

I don't remember any shattering. This guitar paint didn't really start aging, not until I accidentally dropped it on concrete. I just went with it, Fender style guitars look good a little beat up.

@@TomPetersonRefuseReuse Yes it does look good like that. I was thinking of trying clear coat Duplicolor Perfect match since it's the easiest and least expensive in my area but I've seen some scare stories on forums of people say it never dries perfectly. Have you experienced it and how long do you wait until polishing and handling you're guitar after duplicolor clear coat ? Sorry for so many questions it's just my first time painting guitars.

If you are painting with Duplicolor perfect match color, use that for the clear. I wait only till the next day to wet sand. You can wait longer, just to be sure. I always start wet sanding lightly, and on the back or under the pickgaurd area, just to see what happens. I've used rustoleum lacquer clear before and it didn't dry, I waited a long time, and then peeled it off like a mask that women put on their skin, for healthy skin or whatever. I will only use Duplicolor perfect match clear over perfect match color. Don't worry about the questions.

@@vladp3971 also, here's a link,, in this video, I show absolutely everything I do when painting. I'm not a talented or detailed person, don't stress too much about it. th-cam.com/video/hPBrigiUe0E/w-d-xo.html

Dude I have a few tips for beginners watching your vid: don't use your guitar top as a workbench. Put a cloth on the top to avoid hot jumping solder burnin the finish (ugly even on a reliced guitar) and take good pictures before desoldering the old pickups. And no offence, but try cleaning your hands before doing a youtube vid, this looks more like a car repair garage thing to me😂

I'm a mechanic actually, some of that stuff is hard to get off, and I wear gloves at work too, but sometimes they break. People can turn it off if they can't stand to see a working man's hands.

Again, no offence, I'm a working man too I know how it is. Good luck man , respect.
