Raw egg is sourve for that beef. It is very delicious!!
I am a Japanese.
In Japan, eggs are automatically mechanized, fully pasteurized, packed, and shipped by truck.
They are very clean because no one touches them directly.
That is why you can eat them raw.
The yolk part of the egg is the sauce for the meat on the skewers served together.
You should try sukiyaki next time. You will get a raw egg sauce and eat it with thinly sliced beef. It has a slightly sweet soy sauce flavor, a bit like teriyaki, but a bit richer.
The meat in the bento is Yonezawa beef, one of Japan's three great cuts of beef, and very tasty.
It tastes just as good as the more famous Kobe or Matsusaka beef, but should be a bit cheaper, making it very cost-effective.
Thanks for this great information!
The other reason that Japanese eggs can be eaten raw is that they're delivered quickly and have short expiry dates (because Japanese do eat raw eggs).
In Western countries, expiry dates are set with cooking in mind.
Large variation between some countries and how they treat eggs too. In Europe, they note that the outside layer of the egg (cuticle), protects the egg from bacteria and that washing the egg would destroy this and potentially allow bacteria to enter the egg. In the US they have the reserve thought thinking that it's best to wash all contaminants from the outside, but in process knowing the cuticle is damaged in the process, need to immediately refrigerate the eggs.
Japan follows the European principle knowing the end result is eating a raw eggs (and bacteria chance needs to be reduced), but they also refrigerate eggs in once they're in the house to extend shelf life (albeit not keeping them as long anyway).
all eggs can be eaten raw
Chicken and quail eggs are safe to eat raw in Japan only. Use as a sauce for beef, chicken slices or soba noodles.
Hi, if you have any questions about how to eat a dish or your knowledge of the dish, feel free to ask the staff. Even if the Japanese don't speak English well, they will try their best to teach you. Japan is a country that respects others, so they never find it annoying.
I’m glad you enjoyed the Shinkansen!
If you have a chance to ride the Tokaido Shinkansen (Kyoto/Osaka→Tokyo) again, please buy vanilla ice cream sold in the Shinkansen. (300 yen/2$) This famous hard vanilla ice cream will be discontinued in train, October 2023.
If I could speak English and live in Kansai, I could recommend you many delicious foods...🥲
Kyoto is famous for its green tea. In this season, maybe shaved ice (kakigori) is still available, and we recommend you to taste Uji Kintoki, etc.
We also recommend the matcha parfait (green tea parfait) and warabimochi (rice cake with bracken), both of which are made with plenty of autumn flavors🍇🍐🌰.
I hope you all enjoy your trip to Japan, despite the hot weather!
how do you endure that awakwardness with that girl? haha.
I love Japan, it’s clean even in the big cities. It’s very modern with high technology all around for convenience and easy exploring. People are well disciplined and respectful. I can’t believe you didn’t stay long and explore in Kyoto and Osaka. There are so many things to do like in Kyoto, the temples, shrines, the bamboo forest of Arashiyama. geisha tour and their market food…. You missed it. You could have walked around more and experience things to do there. Japan’s outside skirts are where you really see the natural beauty of the country and the calmness of its surrounding.
Hello:-) When you order Tukune(chicken meatballs )at a yakitori restaurant, they come with a raw egg, so it's delicious to dip it in. 😊 Japanese raw eggs are safe, so please eat them with confidence. Enjoy Japan a lot 👍
The fastest train in Japan is the Tohoku Shinkansen for Hokkaido, one of the best place to visit because of its nature. They have the Gran Class seats (like the first class in planes), and you must have a great experience there. If you afford, I'd like to recommend boarding.
The drinks in the vending machine in the green bottle was Korean soju.
Hello🙋暑い日本にようこそいらっしゃいました☀️😵💦つくねは卵黄に付けてたべると美味しいですよ
very good👍
Ive been living in Japan for nearly 20 years but there’s is a lot more places to visit and I want all the foreigners to know that Japan is not only about Tokyo and it’s known stereotypical things.
I have been travelling in Japan for the past 2 weeks and have visited many cities, Wakayama, karakuma and kawaguchiko were highlights
There really is only a very few travel youtubers with any kind of imagination, the rest just follows a formula and stick to doing what the 10.000 before them already did. this guy is the no imagination type.
@@andersandersen6295 dude if you visit a country for the very first time then you will be in these "popular places" no matter what, an personally i couldn't care less if 200000 or more youtubers where there before me..... for me it would be the very first time and so is stupid to think that i should skip these places just cuz a bunch of other dudes where there showcasing everything already.
But going back to the main comment... i do understand what you mean and when i travel there im gonna make sure to visit as much as i can outside osaka, tokyo, kyoto.
if you could recommend some places too since you have been living there that would be great too! @tabigourmet_uni

Enjoying your video's, my friend and I are off to Tokyo in less than a month, very excited

Train system is Japan is just absolutely amazing, fast, and affordable!!!
Best part of Shinkansen travel is bento box.🤤
They have tons of them although favorite ones can sell out but they really have a lot
Hello. Welcome to Japan.
Have a enjoyable trip.
From Fukuoka city Japan
I'm glad you bought a bento box before riding the Shinkansen. Makes the experience better.
The egg yolk thing.....Dump your meatball into the egg yolk when you eat.
生卵は、ミートな焼き鳥に付けて食べる物です
The first yakitori with the egg, you're supposed to have dip the chicken in that one yakitori.
Just an FYI for those going to Tokyo: Suica and Pasmo sales are suspended indefinitely, so the only ones you can get from there are the Welcome Suica and the Pasmo Passport, both of which are limited to about 28 days of validity.
If you go to Kansai (Osaka, Kyoto, Nara, etc.), the Icoca in Zane’s video can be purchased there/reloaded without an expiry date (really it’s 10 years of non-use that it becomes inactive, but if you plan on going to Japan within that 10 year time frame, you’ll be just fine).
thank you that’s so helpful! my fiancé and i are going there in November for our honeymoon. cannot wait 🥺
@@nectarily enjoy! Maybe see you there haha I’ll be in Japan around the same time
Alternatively get your card on your phone
@@ramairturbine4326 yes, if you’re on an iPhone you’ve purchased anywhere, this is good (I do this). But if you’re on Android, you need one from Japan that has NFC capabilities.

OK, I love the yellow duck earrings on the gal sitting next to you on the train. :)
Oh thank goodness you're ok!!! 🙌🏾 We hadn't heard from you on the other channel in a long time, but found you here.

I know I am foreigner who like Japan also I hate people like Johnny Somali.
Thanks for the sights zane! Im too excited for
More more more!!
Shinkansen ice cream is famous for being very hard.
Many Japanese would like to try it someday.
It may end soon with the discontinuation of in-train sales.
You are very lucky to be able to eat it.
Love to see the videos from the perspective of a non-expert, very refreshing and it feels like the viewer gets to discover things along with you. I'm curious if there was a wait at Yakitori Tsujiya? I'll be in the area with my family in about 6 weeks and that looks like a nice spot.
taking the shinkansen is such a great experience. even if you had experience traveling in bullet trains before, the shinkansen is still incredible. the comfort, hygiene, views, food options etc. overall highly recommend it to anyone coming to Japan

新幹線のご利用ありがとう。新幹線のアイスクリームは硬くて溶けるのに時間がかかりますよね。次は京都の動画も見る予定です。よい旅を。See you again.✨
We also bought one of those Ekiben when we went to Mt. Fuji. I got the Shinkansen Ekiben, so cool, and the food inside is delish!
In Tokyo I also recommend go to Ikebukuro, Roppongi, Asakusa, Ueno(Ameyoko shopping street) and Odaiba(Tokyo Bay Area). You can also use the JR Rail Pass or by train to go to Yokohama.
Shinkansen is really cool, just came back from Kyoto, now in Tokyo once again for the last part of my trip. Hate that the weather is so hot though, makes it difficult to go outside as much as i'd like.
It's the humidity that gets you
Even the Japanese are surprised at this heat. Take care of your health.
I couldn't stop laughing at the poor girl sitting next to you on the train. But I love how you film everywhere and don't care!! I couldnt

@MK-oq4kg that is very true , she didn't look up once!
Hey you see nothing in Kyoto and Osaka? Most of Japan's cultural heritage sites are located in Kansai, but it seems like you haven't done any sightseeing.
You were supposed to dip Tsukune into the raw egg yolk 😂😂😂😂😂 It would have added a great flavor ❤
Bro I love your blogs. It's amazing how you travelled taiwan without being able to speak the language. As someone who speaks Chinese and Japanese, I think you are so brave.
BTW the vending machine was korean soju. Keep on travelling and making good blogs😊
Love your videos 💗❤❤❤
the Yakitori restaurant was Yakitori Tsujiya in Shimogyo Ward, Kyoto!
JR Pass is good now. However after October, it won't unless you are doing multiple Shinkansen trips throughout Honshu as the cost is going up 70%. People can still get the voucher, but the JR Pass cost will be permanently at the increased price starting at the end of December.
At least I got my JR pass voucher before the price increase so I'm set. I'm taking a lot of trains for my November trip. Examples are round trip Shinkansen runs between Hakata and Kokura, taking limited express trains to Beppu from Hakata, Beppu to Bungo-Mori, Yufuin to Tosu/Hakata. Afterwards, Hakata to Miyajima, Onomichi to Shin-Kobe, and finally Nagoya to Tokyo.
The cost of all this if I did this without a JR Rail pass(I'm getting a 14 day JR Rail pass to boot) is 70,840 yen on reserved seats alone. If I only take Unreserved seats, it will cost me 57,740 yen. The 14 day JR rail pass cost me $438.25CAD or $325.12 USD
Some of my trips, I'm taking trains not covered by the JR pass such as the etSETOra tourist train (Green Car seats only) from Hiroshima to Onomichi via the JR Kure Line, and the Hinotori from Osaka-Namba to Kintetsu-Nagoya. Also, I'm not going to rely on JR while in Kansai as the Hankyu Railway has far superior service compared to JR.
I might splurge on Nagoya to Tokyo as it is faster to get to Tokyo on a Nozomi compared to Hikari.
The Elcient hotel is where I always stay when I am in Kyoto (staying there again in November).
Yakitori meatballs are eaten by dipping them in raw egg.
You failed. Because it will be many times more delicious.
Sukiyaki is also eaten by dipping it in raw egg.
15:30 Dip the meatballs you’re eating now into that raw egg and eat it. It’s really delicious. That was a shame.
I recommend Naoshima to you! It is an island in Kagawa Prefecture located in the Seto Inland Sea area (Setonaikai). Have a good trip!
Happy to see your channel is growing fast, Zane❣️😌👍🏼✈️
I love your Japan vlog series, Zane! Thank you for your valuable tips. I’ll probably be copying your whole trip 😊
As a Japanese I'll be glad if you enjoy your trip in Japan!
I've subscribed your channel!
Dip the yakitori in the egg
i like your video!
Before Oct. 1st I would say JR PASS is totally worth it because you only pay below 30,000 yen if you buy overseas, and that would be the money of just two Shinkansen rides. Especially if you ride the Touhoku or Hokkaido Shinkansen, the amount of money you can save is crazy. Literally every Japanese I met said that the Pass is just too cheap, which I think is why they finally decided to raise the price... Now it costs 50,000 for 7 days, so you do need more planning to get money saved.
Great vid! What camera/tripod are you using?
The girl took your reserved seat in the shinkansen. 3E is window, not aisle.
Unlucky with the seating )
Welcome to Japan! I'm a Japanese living in Osaka. Thank you for the good video😊
The raw egg is for Yakitori source. You supposed to dip it in. You missed the delicious part 😂
i used suica from narita to tokyo and while i was exploring the city for about 5 days, then i activated my 7 days jr pass only on the day when i went to kyoto-osaka-tokyo so that i will have 7 days to explore kyoto and osaka. i did this because only the bullet train ride was expensive. my back & forth bullet train ride from kyoto to osaka and kyoto to nagoya for 7 days and from kyoto back to tokyo was still part of the pass. intercity trains are fairly cheap.
You used the JR Pass properly. It is a waste to activate at Narita if you're going to stay in Tokyo for a few days. You are wasting money if you do that.
If you are staying in Japan for 14 days and bought a JR pass, don’t activate it until the day you start moving outside of Tokyo and travel far. With JR pass, once you activate it, it’s good for 7 days (or 14 days depending on the pass you buy) from the date you activate it. I recommend to buy it for 14 days if you are planning to visit different areas in Japan and not pack your trip tight. This summer we bought it for 7 days and jam packed our trip in one week and I made my daughter in law exhausted 😂😂😂😂😂😂
You gotta dip the chicken meat ball into the raw egg
Also in addition, although Kyoto to Shin-Osaka takes 15 minutes, I would think that taking the Haruka Limited Express from Kyoto to Osaka or the Limited Express train on the Hankyu Kyoto Line from Kyoto-Kawaramachi/Karasuma to Osaka-Umeda would be faster if the departure time for those trains were earlier.
I miss u hheeeh i hope to see japan
I'm always surprised to see foreigners staying in hotels whereas there is plenty of cheaper/better located/friendlier places to stay. Japan is a different country where (almost) every place is quiet and clean and guesthouses/hostels are definitely great bargains and a way to meet people (if you want to). Travelling alone, I always stay in those places and found it very convenient and interesting. I'm 44 and never got embarrassed or felt I was lacking comfort. I find these business hotels so depressing...
If you have a Suica card you can use to pay at restaurants, ticket trains/metros and buy things at convenience stores and other establishments. Its very convenient cause you dont have to deal with bills and coins anymore, just charge the card at any station or konbinis. I think with the Icoca card you can do the same thing.
SHINKANSEN SUGOI KATAI ICE (CREAM) .... Shinkansen super hard ice cream.
lmao the ladies staring at you at 2:13
新幹線のアイスはドライアイスで冷やしてるので、超固いことで有名なのですが、もうそろそろ販売を終了してしまうらしいので、食べれたのはとてもラッキーです!
I will be traveling the same golden route this winter and can’t wait to see your next video 😊.
Great video ❤
Can you reserve seats in the Green car? And is it recommended? I just don't want to have to stand for hours.
Do you recommend having all of the cards? JR Pass, Suica, Coca, etc? This is the last of the videos I believe you have from Japan and it seems like theyre all useful but in different ways. I know im staying in Shibuya 4 days, then Osaka a week, and unsure my last 4 days.
EDIT: Nevermind I just got to the 10minute mark where you give your opinion. Thanks!
Does that train overhead cabinet fit a full luggage? Or is there a specific storage for it cabinet looks really smsll
If I buy jr pass do I still need to reserve a jr time before I go to Kyoto from Tokyo? Thanks so much
7:53 Not him giving the verdict as the music plays.😂
Did you just stay overnight in Kyoto or did you manage to visit any of the temples?
Jr pass price will go up by a lot on oct 1 Japan time. So if anyone is traveling to Japan before the end of December, I recommend getting it this month. You have 90 days to activate the pass from your purchase date.
I always buy the 14 day JR green pass. But after Oct 1 2023 I don't think I will be getting it anymore. 70% hike is very steep.
@@djvmsdjvms wow 70% is a lot!!
Zane, do you ever change your shirt?
Do you ask people if they mind being filmed (the young woman sitting beside you on the shinkansen, for instance)?
In Japan, there are trains that you can ride comfortably.
A product that is convenient for you to use.
This feeling is common sense.
Do you judge your country's railways based on gold standards? Or do you think you're getting paid for providing a comfortable trip?
The ice cream on the Shinkansen is very hard.
Hi Zane: Me again! What is the name of the Yakitori restaurant in Kyoto that you were so fond of? A suggestion is to film names of specific places you are recommending. Your Yakitori looked delicious.

hello, I read somewhere that JR Pass does not cover Shinkansen, it looks like that is not true? Can anyone advise
I gave a question about the Jr. So I have the Jr pass and I'm arriving in Nov 11th. Can I reserve a seat before I get my Jr pass swapped for the ticket? As I need to go to Kyoto a few days after I arrive. Lol
Only if you get the JR pass from the official website. Otherwise just book reservations when you're over there, usually always seats available.
What is name of the hotel you booked?
Glad to see you chose the right one for your bento lunch before getting on the train. Or else it could ruin whole your bullet train ride. BUT your reaction to the ice cream... it was kinda disappointing, wasn't it lol Actually that Sujahta one is not bad but just normal except it claims "Super Premium, Ultimate Quality blah blah blah"
BTW I'm realizing, as a Japanese person, that is such a great infrastructure. It's primarily the option for a 200-500 mile trip. I can just go walk in to the train station with no flight, no tiresome driving, or no ticket booking.
Egg? Beat it. Then dip in it. Don't worry. You won't die from eating a raw egg.
5:35 did you even say hello to the girl sitting beside you? Missed Connection Big Time!

I think there are some places where English isn’t spoken, but I hope you enjoy your trip in Japan.
I’m Japanese, I’m sad to hear Japanese people’s English skill , unfortunately it’s true. 😢
Most Japanese think English is one of the subject only for taking paper exam, not thinking about using it in real life.
next time have google translate to help translate items like the remote. :) Hope that helps.🥳
