If you’re talking about the juices that come out of the meat once you’ve properly cooked it and leave it to rest, that’s called myoglobin. Myoglobin is perfectly normal and fine to eat and isn’t actually blood, but just the protein that carries oxygen throughout muscle tissue. In any case, cook your chicken to kill germs!

Maybe it’s because of something here in Australia, but I’ve never heard people washing chicken before cooking! Whenever we’ve cooked chicken from raw we’ve been extremely careful to somewhat quickly run hot water over anything that has come into contact before being cooked (i.e. knife, cutting board, tongs etc.)
I’m from the south in the USA (Texas and Louisiana) and I’ve heard of people washing chicken, but don’t know anyone here who actually does it, and my family and friends cook a lot. It seems gross and unnecessary to me tbh 😬. I think it may be more of a familial/ cultural thing in certain parts of the US.
the chicken thing- i think it at one point was "common knowledge" that you should wash chicken probably due to some old instructions idk. i still wash chicken but just without splashing by cutting a lemon and rubbing it over the chicken to scrub it. My mom taught me to wash chicken growing up and my whole family did it. No one ever got salmonella poisoning so pretty sure it mostly makes no difference.

Maybe it’s because of something here in Australia, but I’ve never heard people washing chicken before cooking! Whenever we’ve cooked chicken from raw we’ve been extremely careful to somewhat quickly run hot water over anything that has come into contact before being cooked (i.e. knife, cutting board, tongs etc.)
I’m from the south in the USA (Texas and Louisiana) and I’ve heard of people washing chicken, but don’t know anyone here who actually does it, and my family and friends cook a lot. It seems gross and unnecessary to me tbh 😬. I think it may be more of a familial/ cultural thing in certain parts of the US.
In the Caribbean we do it with vinegar or lemons and to make sure there aren't any feathers before we season.
the chicken thing- i think it at one point was "common knowledge" that you should wash chicken probably due to some old instructions idk. i still wash chicken but just without splashing by cutting a lemon and rubbing it over the chicken to scrub it. My mom taught me to wash chicken growing up and my whole family did it. No one ever got salmonella poisoning so pretty sure it mostly makes no difference.
