- after talking with some friends, family, colleagues, and viewers i have decided that I am done with the drama. I have removed most of the drama related videos from my channel as well as apologizing to a lot of people I may have hurt or offended. I kind of feel like a shit head and I hope this helps make up for it.

Boogie, here's the deal...when this drama hits, everyone reaches for their cameras and discusses the issues. Some are rational, most are not. YOU are one of the most rational ones out there, and I think people come to you for a clear understanding of what is going on without much bias or bullshit. You do you fam, and I'll be here watching no matter what.

I don't think drama needs to go away, I just think how people react to drama is the issue. So many knee jerk reactions, hate, mob mentalities, etc. cause the issue. Literally can end peoples careers and lives, from false rape allegations to being called a pedophile.

That's true but it's easy to say "don't care what others have to say" from the sidelines. For someone with self-esteem or mental health issues, what others think and say is a big deal. At what cost is injecting your opinion worth sleepless nights? Boogie knows himself, and he's a smart guy, he'll figure it out.

Personally, I liked your videos discussing current events on TH-cam. You gave an honest, unbiased, fair, and bipartisan view on all topics and you ended each discussion with how YOU would resolve it. There's nothing wrong with exposing fires and bringing solutions to the table. We NEED that! There are too many people here on TH-cam that are quick to judge, belittle, demean, and bully someone anything they do something wrong. It's always great to have someone who isn't here to make someone feel worthless or stupid, but to enlighten and educate so we can move forward and not allow the same mistakes to be made twice.
I'm not here to tell you what to do with your channel, but I started watching you more because of the videos you've done on Toby Turner and Fine Bros. I never thought you added to the drama at all. In fact, your videos did the OPPOSITE. You managed to defuse situations simply by giving us a new perspective and keeping everything focused on preserving the community. We shouldn't be tearing each other down over money and views -- it's better to help everyone out.
You can't escape drama. It's everywhere. The only way to defuse drama is to listen to both sides and find neutral ground. You and your TH-cam channel can be that neutral ground. You're the anti-Drama Alert, if you will. =)
P.S.: I don't see how "making money off of other's people's misfortune" is such a bad thing when really all you were doing is finding a middle ground, finding a solution, and learning a lesson. You're not saying, "this guy is a BAD person" more so than you were saying, "here's why this could be seen as a problem and maybe if it was done this way things would have worked out differently." Anyways ... you do you man. =)

It's only logical that there will be a large amount of people who liked the drama videos, AND a large amount of people who disliked them. No duh, it's impossible to make the whole internet happy, you're acting like it's one hypocritical entity instead of MANY individuals. I really liked your topical videos that involved current youtube events or "drama", It was something that was truly insightful and I didn't dislike any of the ones you made. It was something I was genuinely always interested in and not because I like drama so much, cause I don't, but because the way you looked at the situation. And I think the videos would be less impactful and less insightful if they were only about the larger issue at hand and not adressing the situation that inspired them.
You didn't hate on the people they were about, in fact in many cases you made them look better and made a better defensive case for them than they did by looking at both sides of the issue and then in your personal evalution not critiquing what they did, but adressing the larger issue. You have nothing to be ashamed of and you needed not to apologize! Calling what you did "profiteering on other people's misfortune" is just a cynical way of looking at it.
Boogie, to me it seems you are taking this community feedback way too harshly, and it wasn't even a majority opinion since your like to dislike ratio looked still super good on those videos, take a page out totalbiscuit's playbook, and ignore the feedback of the community or you will just destroy your own sanity.

I think mislabeling news and topical conversations around unethical and potentially illegal behavior in the TH-cam community as "drama" is a problem. Boogie, you're kowtowing to (some of) your subscribers when you were one of the best people who looked at these topics in a fair and even-handed way.
I can understand wanting to sleep at night, but I don't think in any way you should apologize. Ever. You didn't attack these people. You presented the facts and gave both sides of the argument. If anything, you were frustratingly *neutral* about it all. The Fine Bros and Matthew Santoro were incidents that needed to be talked about in the TH-cam creator community at large and those people needed to be called out on what they were doing. It falls on the creators to hold each other accountable for their actions when it negatively impacts the platform as a whole.
Brushing it all aside and labeling it as drama robs it of its importance to the health of the TH-cam ecosystem at large, and through the vacuum of silence, even worse and more egregious things may happen because no one will be talking about it anymore, at least not in any kind of rational or constructive way.

Regardless of your decision, it takes a lot of humility to admit you felt you were wrong. It doesn't much matter what the audience believes about your channel. You and you alone know the direction and whether that is a positive or negative thing. I feel talking about actions in the community can be important because otherwise such actions go unchallenged and without any real discussion. That said, what YOU want your channel to be about is something you should focus on.
No matter what direction, being able to apologize for actions you felt were wrong takes a lot of humility and I hope anyone who felt your content was negative see THAT as the real indicator of character.
The drama? I can take or leave that. But I'm gonna ask something here because I don't think anyone else is going to: Are Pew Die Pie, Markiplier, Toby Turner, or Matt Santoro REALLY your friends? Do they ask you about your wife or dog, just to find out how they are? Do they tell you how much they appreciate you (not your opinion, but YOU)? Do they defend you when the chips are down? Or do they just invoke the vague idea of "TH-cam Community?"
Cover TH-cam drama or not, that doesn't matter to me. But Boogie2988 knowing who his friends are, THAT matters to me.

For the last few years, I've been on Nostalgia Critic's site (Channel Awesome) and found out that some of the people I thought I was closest to there were complete wastes. I HAVE made friends over at Channel Awesome, and you know what? They're the ones that make you feel good for having talked to them. They appreciate your existence and your work. They ask you how you're doing. Just to know you're doing well.

It's tricky because there is bad "drama" and good "drama". For instance talking about youtube's copyright strikes is good "drama" because it's starts a conversation in positive changes on youtube. It's sometimes hard to stay on the right side of it. It is refreshing to see a big youtuber able to self reflect like this. A lot of the big time youtubers drink their own cool aid and get stuck in a bubble and only listen to positive feedback and ignore everything else.
It's nice to see you get off the internet drama train. It kills me to see so many TH-camrs profiting from the destruction of others and TH-cam making the shift to civil war which just isn't cool. The community should be uplifting and not destructive.

I always felt that you approached these topics with objectivity and humility, something that is very uncommon among these "drama llama" channels that have been infecting TH-cam lately. The content you make is your choice of course, but letting the fear of being disliked impact your videos is a slippery slope. You got to 3 million subscribers because people want to hear your thoughts on these topical subjects, and I'm sure many people (myself included) prefer them to your Francis videos. Food for thought, but don't let the internet peanut gallery determine where your content is going. Everything is going to piss somebody off these days, so trying to please everyone is a fool's errand.

I liked your ""drama"" videos, i think because it seems unavoidable - someone i subscribe to covers it, then it comes up by other YTers in my recommendations, then it's discussed on a podcast i subscribe to, so on. Your videos i found helpful because i felt like they were quite level headed and looked at things from both sides.
THAT SAID, i trust you as a content creator and i'm so, so happy that you're doing what is in your heart, and staying true to your brand / your desired brand. I think you're setting a great example and i can't wait to see what videos you have coming up!

There's something you're missing here. It's not that people are afraid of you, it's that they don't want to disappoint you. No friend wants to disappoint a friend they care about, they care what you think of them. But it's not a bad thing for them to feel that way. How do we stop ourselves from doing stupid things or bad things? We think about the opinions of the people we care about and how they'd perceive our actions or words. You become almost a personification of their conscience, helping them to make the best choices, which is why having good friends, good family, good role-models is so important to being a caring, decent human-being. If people know they're going to get "called out" for bad actions and bad words, it's a good thing. It makes people think, reflect, be considerate of who they are and what they do.
Sure ok, it's hard to know that TH-camrs talk to and about each other in almost the 3rd person, via public videos and comments sections, but that's the nature of the beast. You're public figures so when you do something wrong or say something wrong you get "called out" for it in a similarly public way. But that's what you bought into putting yourself in the public sphere instead of staying in the private sphere, where you'd be talking to them about their actions/words privately instead if they did something you thought was wrong.
I want people doing and saying shitty things to be called out for it, in the end it's just your opinion, man. If they're effected by it enough to feel badly about what they did and change, you did a good thing. If they don't think they did anything wrong they won't care and won't change.

Can't speak for specific people, mostly because I don't watch nor am I subscribed to anyone that makes those videos, but the lowdown is there has been a subset of TH-camrs making videos about other TH-camrs. Videos that tend to "examine" their personal lives. Content that could be labeled as "Tabloid journalism".
While good topics that deserve to be discussed can come out of those videos, a lot of it is people seeing it as a way to make Internet gold. And then finding out that what they really got was poison that is killing their channel's reputation.

From being one of the only people who I thought was reporting on drama in an unbiased and neutral way to stopping the drama entirely. I personally think you were handling/making videos on the drama in a very fair and acceptable way that wasn't negative to the community. However I still have an insane amount of respect for what you're doing. To walk away from all the extra subscribers and views the drama brings in because you feel it's wrong for you/the community/your channel is just amazing. Thanks for being you boogie.
Boogie!! You mentioned you wanted to be objective for your drama videos and I think you were in all of them. Drama or no drama I'll still enjoy your content but honestly, I think you should give yourself more credit for your work. Your videos were popular because your were actually impartial and the guy giving the info was genuinely nice guy that a lot of people stuck around and finished watching for. People who enjoy your videos wont always tell you but 3 Million subs, a wife and great friends says that your a great guy and a few videos on drama doesn't change that. I don't mind you dropping names, but I prefer it when you talk about serious issues rather than petty TH-cam bullshit. For example, I enjoyed your video about Amanda Todd and the one about Dan Cathy. "Am I sick of drama on your channel?" I have never seen it. All I have seen is a rational guy talking very eloquently on topics in his community. As far as your TH-cam friends being "afraid" of you, maybe they should stop doing bad shit (plagiarism, copyrighting a human emotion (reacting), etc.)
I'm actually going to miss those videos. It's not that I'm hugely into TH-cam drama or anything like that, but it just seems that you're the only person on TH-cam who's actually capable of looking at something from both sides of the argument without blatantly leaning one way or the other. Even when you do make it clear which side of an issue your leaning towards and I think differently than you, I still have nothing but the utmost respect for you because of your understanding of both sides.
You are now one of my absolute favorite youtubers. The amount of respect and openness you have towards you and your friends is simply amazing. He first laid down that he understood that I am a very open person and that I have a very dry, sarcastic sense of humor, but then said that I was being too open with other peoples private information and that our other friends were mad at a lot of comments I made and thought I was serious. It was a lot to take in, and I eventually broke down from all the news. I wasn't meaning to hurt anybody, I just wanted to be honest and make people happy. I was very depressed for the next week, and the first couple days I would cry a little when I was alone. It was difficult to get through because I had to re-evaluate myself and fix my problems. Everything was patched up eventually, but I never forgot it.
I learned two things in that time:
1. Someone's personal life is none of you're business, even if they let you in it.
2. Sometimes it's best not to comment on some things.
I feel this pertains to this scenario because Boogie was commenting on other TH-camr's drama, and getting involved in something that wasn't his business. It can be really hard to not talk about something that everybody is talking about, especially if it's you're friends. I commend Boogie for coming forward and admitting his mistake, and want to say I completely understand what he's going through. I will always continue to support you, Boogie, in whatever you decide to do.
Here's my take on it.
I think you have an extremely good point about going to the broader subject. Videos like that will last and will be relevant for years to come.
I think the problem is actually when you make video after video about the same topic that involves different people each time. If you just made one video about TH-cam drama, or even online drama, or even just drama in general, that would be great. And then you could very briefly give an example or two in it. So I think you should still mention names, but you shouldn't make them the entire focus of a video.
Most importantly, only mention names if you KNOW that they're going to stick and be remembered for a long time. An example of this is The Fine Bros. An example of a drama scenario that WON'T stick is h3h3 vs. Leafy. The second one happened well after the drama became "mainstream", and it's overshadowed by h3h3 vs. Soflo, anyway. The Fine Bros is a great topic for a video. h3h3 vs. Leafy is not.
If something like TH-cam drama happens, cover it early, cover it quick, and use the first examples of it. Everything that follows won't be worth it, and you can use that time to make different videos that follow your line of work.
This is what I'd follow: one topic per video, one video per topic, and MAYBE an afterthought video (aka a 2nd video of the topic) right before the topic is about to decline in popularity.
Boogie I just want to say that even though I criticized your Matthew Santaro video, I just want to say that it wasn't an attack or silencing your opinion or whatever.
And I'll be straight about it: You didn't have to delete them.
I just felt like the drama videos were getting a bit too much.
And hey at the very least, most of the drama videos you made were concise, intellectual, and straight to the point.
So please I'm hoping me and any others who criticized your videos didn't hit you too hard on it cause you're still one of the best YTers out there and I'll still be supporting you for a long time.
You might be done with the drama. I hope Francis isn't.

I actually have never found myself upset by any of your videos, especially those pertaining to the TH-cam drama. In fact, I found them to be very useful because they informed me on topics that I didn't know much about. I despise the overly dramatic, clickbaity nonsense that is infecting the internet... but you didn't give in by discussing it, mainly because you actually do offer unbiased, balanced opinions. Most importantly, you discuss these precarious topics in a respectful manner.
That being said, I also understand why you want to stop and completely respect your decision! I think you were on the right track at the end when you said you could still discuss the general topics but don't necessarily need to mention any names. I sincerely hope you do continue with that concept because then I'll know I have a place to watch an unfiltered, authentic, and civil video explaining these hot topics!

Not to see grown adults piss and moan and make false (or true) accusations. You seem to grasp (and have the ability to explain) whats going on TH-cam better than many (MOST) do here. You're channel was always about positive vibes and whenever you brought drama related videos to the channel, I did not get those happy fun vibes that the rest of the videos brought. Boogie you really, really need to stop feeling the need to apologize to people for EVERYTHING. Anyone who feels "hurt" over one of your videos, which are just about the mildest and most even-handed on this site, needs to learn how to live in the real world. Despite what people nowadays seem to thing everyone is responsible for their own feelings, whether they want to admit it or now. If someone chooses to feel hurt and get pissy because you talked about a tough topic and they didn't like what you had to say then tough shit, that's there problem not yours.
That said I can't think of a bigger waste of time and energy than drama (much less "TH-cam" drama) so I welcome this decision.

Personally it sounds like an excuse for companies/people to get away with doing bad things and then shouting out "Stop causing drama!" when other people point it out or try to inform others.
Drama basically is getting involved in people's personal life and choices or a petty fight between two people. LeafyvsH3h3 would count as drama as well as gradeaundera meltdown in his subreddit

Well making videos for objectively discussing trending topics in the TH-cam world is the exact reason GradeA attacked Mark, Pewds, and Matthew Santoro.
Jared Steege He's not the authority for TH-cam and he acts like he is. He has no business attacking these people for making those videos, or anyone for that matter. Even in the case of blatantly stealing content like Matt, supposedly. Is GradeA the TH-cam police now? There's nothing wrong with objectively discussing issues out there. Matter of the fact the problem is that too many people attack each other instead of objective discussion, which is what GradeA himself is guilty of. Boogie is not guilty of that in any means.
I think the difference between the Fine Bros video and the rest is that the Fine Bros video was about something that actually could have effected the community at large. It mattered. To us, to youtubers, and even to the Fine Bros. But I love the idea of getting away from specific drama and getting onto the specific subjects and how they effect the community.
Boogie, I can tell you're scared. Please in the end just do what makes you happy, you are one of the most genuine and sweet youtubers I know. Leafys' videos hurt people. Drama Alert videos hurt people. I will however state that you are nothing like the toxic people who perpetuate the drama filled topics that people are focusing on within the youtube community. You try to be fair and put your own spin upon the issue and I don't believe I have once seen you take pleasure in the misfortune of others like many of that ilk might. You have integrity Boogie and that's rare to find in a youtuber of any variety.
I and many others mean it when we say we will support you no matter what you decide to do with your career. So if this is what you feel is necessary then more power to you. I do not agree for various reasons I won't dilute my post to make, but at the end of the day you should focus on what makes you happy. Boogie, I was told a story by my mother about a father, a son, and a Donkey. So the story goes like this: They travel down a path to get back home. Along the way, many people told them to either sit on the donkey, get off the donkey, both sit on the donkey, and etc. Then the father proceeded to tell the son "Do what is right, because no one can please anyone." I've recently got a negative comment on my other TH-cam channel about a news topic in which I created, and therefore was fake. The guy didn't learn to take a joke... he thought I was actually giving off misleading information. In some parts, he was right, but all in all, he was rather an idiot to actually think that I was trying to distribute facts when in reality, I was just doing it for comedic affect.
I've been watching you for a long time, I accept your heartfelt apology and I've been a fan for a long time (I have a second account which has been sub'd for years) Your videos always do infact make me happy and I hope you will also feel happy in the future making more videos. I'm still cheering for you, friend. You're a good man with a good heart, many of us have reminded you of this - and its the truth. It takes a good man to see when hes wrong, but it takes a strong man to admit when hes wrong. To be honest with you, those videos never upset me - but I could see how they might offend others. All the drama drove me batshit insane. I know you made good content for a long time. I enjoyed the videos that people made, however those who made drama (especially bad drama) made me be a keyboard warrior. For example, when Dodger (PressHearttoContinue) left Polaris I started to become upset on the things Polaris did like fucking up events like TotalBiscuit and Angry Joe's CIvil War and how they would not let Jesse Cox do the coverage of the event no more. Through these bad dramas throughout the internet, personal life, and my hometown of Salinas, California, I felt that everything gone to shit and made me not want to make TH-cam, since I'm afraid of abusing my power and become a villain that everyone wants me dead, thus not wanting to do new things and motivate myself to do well in the future due to my past mistakes. I am trying to avoid the bad kind of drama (high school level) and try to focus the positive changes like #wtfu. I love your videos and your Twitch streams, which relaxes me and want to enjoy as much as possible. I want to keep being inform on the things are going in the world, however with the high school level of drama and terrible accusations of a crime and a single mistake will make you a terrible person mentality makes fell anxious and not want to do anything. Hopefully there are going to be good things in the future, just keep thinking positive. Like what Mei from Overwatch said, "Our world is worth fighting for."

It was the Leafy drama that brought me here, after I saw it on h3h3 and saw that specific bullied youtuber thank you for defending him. I watched it and was appreciative to see someone put out a balanced video about his own opinions. I believe you are very insightful, and fair, and that was the reason I finally subscribed and started watching your other videos.

I started watching this channel because your a geniune, funny guy. Stooping down to talk about youtube drama felt like you were grabbing at straws for views, which made me sad because i know you are a talented content creator, and it just felt kinda lazy, like low hanging fruit. While videos like that will always get views(people fucking love drama), it seems to attract a crappier, more hostile fan base. I value his input and made better and clearer conclusions from his reasoning.
