    I've been looking for a better way to plug a tire. This looks like a go!!

      The sidewall slugs are awesome 😎

    I have been ATV/UTVing for many years and pretty much know the drill; sidewall gash = new tire. Plugs and patches will buy a little time, save the weekend. Because we have bead locks, it is real easy to open up the tire, pull the valve stem, then install a tube. I don't like carrying a spare, especially 35", too much upper weight when rock crawling. I keep a couple tubes onboard.

      Have you tried a sidewall slug? It mechanically clamps the tire together and seals it. I don’t carry a spare either except back at the truck for long trips for the same reason you said. Tubes have their own set of issues in a tire not designed for them.

    Should have done just the outside like a rider would do in the field and see how long it lasts...

      @@larrywoomer9944 i hear ya but it didn’t last more than a couple rides with it inside and outside so I wouldn’t trust it more than to just get you to the trailer in the field. I’ll use sidewall slugs whenever possible lasts 100s of hard miles even when applied in the field

    If u put slime in it should help the leak if not add more cement around it

      Slime probably would have worked but don’t really like the idea of the mess that slime makes. I tried adding cement but it only lasted a little bit before it was leaking again. I’m pretty hard on stuff lol the sidewall slug has held up the best so far literally have ground down the nut in the rocks and it was still holding air. I may try cold vulcanizing next.

    Why would you do a repair review for out in the field then do it in the shop with the tire off?

      Tire plugs got it back to the trailer this time. But to answer your question If it won’t hold up in ideal conditions it won’t in the field. 🤷‍♂️

      Agreed who carries a tool for cutting lugs or letters off your tire in the field. It would have been nice to see if product works as intended before ideal conditions.

      @@overworked30 the gluetread in this case did not hold up and came off after a few rides. You can cut the lug with a razor blade as well. Sidewall slug is still good to go. 👍

    • @rebelsoffroad
      @rebelsoffroad  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have never heard of it but I’ll check it out! Is it like tire slime? That stuff makes a big mess of your wheels

      @@rebelsoffroad it is but way better and no it doesn't make a mess of your wheels watch some videos. its safe to keep in your tires at all times doesn't throw off the balance.

      These tires are directional and I’m not sure how that would have helped?
