    The best way to hang the charger is to drill ONE hole,screw the charger on it and then you have all the time and precision to mark the other holes..Screw the charger loose and drill the other holes.

    I'd put one hole in the wall for the top right fixing, plug the hole and hang the charger off one fixing. Then lift it round level and mark the other 3 holes. Simples.

    The absolute best thing about the pass through crimper is that you keep the twist on the pairs nice and tight and don't have to undo it too much to get the 8p8c (generically known as rj45) on.
    As a network engineer I will tell you that maintaining the twist in those pairs is one of the most important things you can do to reduce interference near your terminations.

    16:10 being WiFi only is a bad bit of design from Anderson. Thick external walls are often going to leave you with little or no WiFi coverage outside, particularly in larger and older homes.

    • @gorgonbert
      @gorgonbert 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      Missed opportunity by Anderson. They should put a WiFi Access Point into their chargers. Since you need to run power to it anyways, adding Cat6 is easy. Provides internet access to the charger and the car, which seems to be needed for most cars.

    • @patdbean
      @patdbean 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@gorgonbert yes, use it as a wifi range extender. But putting an outside wall between the wifi AP and a fixed client device is asking for trouble . My ring video door bell is on the wooden door itself, not the brick wall by the side of it. For exactly the same reason. It is the difference between 5mbit/s and 0.5mbit/s

    • @SquirreliciousMe
      @SquirreliciousMe 3 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Agree very bad on Andersen’s part - I never recommend anyone uses Wi-Fi as a preference for anything - it should always be the option of last resort when cabling would do a better job - and it would here.

    • @gorgonbert
      @gorgonbert 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@patdbean Easiest would be to configure it with a different SSID and you should be golden. WiFi Extenders actually decrease your usable bandwith because every „packet“ is transmitted by your house AP, received by the extender and then retransmitted. So each packet goes to the air twice. (it’s a bit like walkie talkies, if one presses the transmit button, the channel is blocked for the others) The super proper / professional way would be to have a central WiFi controller and hook up all the access points to it. That way the client devices can roam from AP to AP. Anderson probably can’t provide one of those, since they are proprietary to the respective AP vendor. There are mesh systems that don‘t need a controller, but as far as i know those are proprietary as well and don‘t follow an open standard Anderson could implement.

    • @patdbean
      @patdbean 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gorgonbert yes, I should have said, a wired second access point. On a different wifi channel. Not a wireless-to-wireless range extender.

    Get a drum of blue poly rope for conduit pulls & pull a spare length in for future needs - definitely use proper conduit lube & use it sparingly because washing up liquid goes all manky in the duct. As for mounting the Anderson - I'd use the old cheat of drilling the first hole & fit up, then mark the rest up - the first fixing acts as a third hand & means that I am less likely to drop the box🤣🤣

      I agree with Efixx . We fit lots of Andersen and have always had to fit Type A RCD upstream as it's only Type B built in to the charge point . I have spoken to head of tech who says it must always be installed upstream (at the consumer unit). We usually fit a sub board on older consumer units like that for the type A RCD protection. Technically that Andersen isn't installed to the manufacturer instructions and possibly voids the warranty in the event of charge point failure

    • @Marcel_Germann
      @Marcel_Germann 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just downloaded their data sheet. The RCD protection is for the cable supplying the charger. It seems they got an internal RCD type F+EV or type A+EV RCD, both can be wired in series with a standard 30mA type A RCD without any problems. The type A+EV is a short time delayed type A RCD with additional 6mA DC protection. The type F+EV offers additional protection against AC fault currents with a frequency up to 1kHz, rest is same like type A+EV.
      These RCDs are short-time delayed, that makes it possible to have another RCD upstream without having trouble.

      @@artisanelectrics Obviously because they now demand for RCD protection in the consumer unit, so Occam's Razor: No RCD protection in it. But that's not the way this works.
      The charger I use here works the same way. Requires a type A RCD in the distribution board but also got RCD functionality included. If an error or a fault occurs the charger goes into error mode, stops charging and causes the RCD in the consumer unit to trip. That error can be a fault current but also if one of the three phases in the supply is missing.

      Where did you hear this? Ours have all had RCD protection in them.

    • @efixx
      @efixx 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jordan - It’s on the product data sheet - you should be installing upstream type A RCDs - the onboard one is non compliant. Why do you keep ignoring this when your viewers tell you?

    • @artisanelectrics
      @artisanelectrics  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s so annoying when manufacturers keep changing the specs without telling installers. We don’t spend our lives reading data sheets we get trained on products and then expect manufacturers to update us when they make changes.

    Corey should of explained the knot to him. The knot is meant to be easily removable. It only tightens when being pulled the direction of the pull. Although his knot did look a bit funky compared to the way I do it.

    • @mrseanpride6449
      @mrseanpride6449 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also. If your doing it solo just do one mark and screw in the corner. That way he can hold it better with his little hands. You can tighten just enough so he can move it to its level and focus on getting his marks right. It’s a little slower but it’s needed at times.

    Business Idea: Artisian Electrician Gyms
    Instead of plates and dumbells there's stations setup with various electrical items an Electrician needs to be able to handle.
    "Anderson Holding Station" - Anderson chargers you can use to build your arm strength up for holding on walls
    "Cable Reel Lifts" - Build your upper body strength for carrying cable reels around
    Cory could even hold classes on how to stick your diet so well like he does.
