One of the most iconic villains, and one of the best Scrappy episodes ever. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 Shame Velma wasn’t here.

    • @mightyfilm
      @mightyfilm ปีที่แล้ว +10

It was definitely the start, or near the start of them using Scrappy to his full potential. I need to check out more episodes from this particular series, but they really nailed down the child-like younger nephew aspect of the character after making him so aggressive.

    • @carolyngrant745
      @carolyngrant745 ปีที่แล้ว +9

Completely agree, Scrappy in the right episodes worked really well. Once they toned him down a bit and focused more on making him an equal though still younger (and somewhat reckless) member of the gang, he worked best as a character.

A Nutcracker Scoob is always my go to Christmas movie. Even watching the review I had a smile on my face. I first remember seeing it off Winter Wonderdog VHS (I also love the Snow Beast episode), and then both of the latest holiday collections having it and the wintery themed episodes is a plus. Though idk if it does it to everyone but the last one to come out always starts with the scene of the Ghost of Christmas Never chasing Shaggy and Scooby out of the room before playing the full episode.
Sad to see this is the last episode for S1 of Scoobytopia, but I sure as hell enjoyed it. Can’t wait to see what’s planned next for S2/next year.

While this is the Scooby-Doo era that began to lose many I still cared. It’s not on the level of ‘Where are You’ , ‘the Scooby-Doo Show’ , or Pup Named Scooby-Doo for me but it’s still quite good.
I was always a fan of Scrappy and never found him irritating, I found him very charismatic and super helpful to the gang. The villains of this era weren’t anything special but this gal here was always quite good to me. Nowhere near the same level as the original villains but still good for this era.
    Merry Christmas all

Just watched this the other day with my brother! It's a tradition every year! We grew up with the green covered VHS tape of it, then ended up getting the Winter Wonderdog DVD (since the tape was getting old). It's a really well done Christmas episode, and I totally agree on the villain; not too obvious, still made sense, and the Ghost of Christmas Never design is simple yet still spooky. The combination of the Nutcracker and Christmas Carol elements worked well here too. The New Scooby Doo mysteries might not be as good or well known as some of the series, but it still has some great episodes (and an awesome theme).

This was the very first episode I watched that featured Scrappy, and it was from the _Winter WonderDog_ DVD set my parents had (and still have) in the house. Scrappy and Velma appearing in the same episode became a strange concept to me because of that experience, and I'm pretty sure it took a few years before I actually got to see something like that.
Also, $5000 in 1984 is the equivalent to $14,397.02 today. Definitely not enough for selling that place.

Nice review. This episode always hits the nostalgia zone of my brain, thanks to Christmas reruns on Cartoon Network and Boomerang.
And it’s nice to know that I wasn’t the only one who felt a bit sorry for the maid. She’s still a thief, mind you, but I felt bad as a kid. Maybe Janet Waldo(?)’s performance endeared me.

Out of all the scooby doo themed holiday episodes this and a scooby doo Christmas from what's new are my top two favorites. Also I love the idea that the writers of a Nutcracker Scoob decided to combine the Nutcracker and a Christmas Carol since Christmas in general does have like many holidays a dark side.
That said now I'm wondering if because he had to wear a tutu so many times was another reason Scrappy wanted to kill mystery inc in the 2002 live action film. Because I know that film already gave him a reason to destroy them but it be funny if this was also another reason.

Idk if it was extremely repressed memories, or if the twist was kind of obvious, but when I saw that pin I was like "Oh they're reading it upside down." I do like how even if you figured out that the pin was upside down, you still could have suspected it was actually Muffinstuffer, with it being revealed she had a first name starting with N.

Editing to add because I forgot about this episode because of how wack it is, but you can also find ghost of the ancient astronauts on a confirmation DVD I cannot remember the name of it, but the minute I heard the theme song remember flipping my head like what the heck where do you come from type deal as at that point the Nutcracker scoob was the only one, so there has been three with the Nutcracker scoob being the most popular

Based on dumb thought crossing my mind around 5 minutes in:
Based on my concrete calculations with a friend, that don't take account inflation and how you would cheaply get all the ingredients from all over time and space but mostly resides in the 90s. If this woman gave the orphanage 9000 cookies it'd come out at a worktime of 4 days assuming it's one person working.
But more importantly and relevant to first half of last sentence, the cost per cookie would be approximately 24 cents. And more importantly the total cost would be at 2168.18 dollars, which meant if they sold the orphanage they could pay for 18000 cookies which I feel a child would go for rather than help solve a mystery.
Worst case scenario we are dumb in terms of calculations which would be sad since our education system should have led us to be able to solve this more important mystery.
No I'll not share the full extent of these calculations because we did them without writing down much and it took an hour and idk why we did it.
Below are notes I took as if that'll help anyone:
9000 / 18 (total amount divided by cookies made per recipe)
500 (total amount of times u have to redo recipe)
    2.26796185 (something with conversion)
    6 flour
    2 carbonat
    10 cents - sugar
    99 cents - egg
    87 cents - smör
    1 dollar - flour
    1.71 dollar - salt
    1,21 dollar - choklad (3025 dollar)
    58 cents - carbonat
    6 dollar
    1,16 dollar
    495 dollar
    55 dollar
    87 dollar
    400 dollar
    39.93 dollar
Edit: we failed to account for the magical gingerbread men jumping out of the oven and could've been used as extra workers.

It's kind of weird how this era just axed Velma and Fred unceremoniously, but Scrappy was supposed to fill in as the smart one and the brave one so it would've redundant, I suppose. As for Daphne, I think she was just a favorite of fans or maybe whoever was in charge just wanted to ensure they kept the hot one of the group? Regardless, it was good for her character to see her in more of a leadership role than in the initial series.

Just discovered your channel yesterday (specifically your 3 80s Scooby films video). Thanks for doing Scooby videos. I am 96 born as well, so your insights are right up my alley. While New Scoob Mysteries is obscure (I only in the past couple of years realized how “for the time” the opening is), I confess that the one series I have seen even less of is 13 Ghosts.
