While A Pup Named Scooby-Doo was the first departure from the classic animation style that had defined Scooby-Doo since its inception, it also breathed new life into a dying franchise. The show had taken a pretty significant deviation from its original premise (4 teens / young adults and a great dane solving mysteries) with shows like Scooby and Scrappy-Doo and The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo, and even as a kid I could feel the quality sliding. When A Pup Named Scooby-Doo aired, my friends and I made sure we never missed an episode.
