Finally, thank you, you did comparatives that are gravely missing from 99.9% of all tired “infomercial”tech reviews. It would be nice to see more detail regarding different simulation solves, through programs like houdini or the system stability with scenes requiring more than 16gb of vram, ie renders, responsiveness, solves. etc.
I have a M1 max and I wish I could have waited for the M3 max for my portable 3D work. But glad to know that it is as slow as a mobile 4090 unplugged. Thank you for the video
Wow, thanks for the insightful content. I’ve indeed been contemplating whether to opt for the Blade 16 or the MacBook Pro, and then the algorithm serendipitously presented me with this video, which truly addressed many of the queries I harbored. It helps a lot, thank you 👍
Very informative video! The struggle is when you prefer a laptop-only minimalist life, while being a casual gamer but that likes heavy AAA open world titles, while being a 3D environment creator 😄 If only as many games were natively available on Mac as there are on Windows 😮💨😄
If you are a moderate to heavy gamer the Razer is great if you are ok with being plugged into the wall most of the time. Even the M1 Max holds its own against it without needing to be plugged into an outlet.
what about the displays? the OLED of the 2024 razer and the 2023 M3’s liquid retina XDR display? that would be a great follow up video, and to see what display is better, NIT wise and quality wise.
I don't agree with the conclusion unless you mean fan noise. It sounds like the Apple M3 is very strong if you have to operate on battery power. Although have they solved the cooling issues? can it render for hours without overheating?
There is a huge difference in fan noise between the razer and the MacBooks under load. I haven’t had any issues so far with long renders and overheating.
Applying a more aggressive fan curve helps a lot as well. I personally also have thermal pads on my M2 Max 16 inch with a more aggressive fan curve. It can play resident evil 4 remake and village with ease. I put metal effects to quality and it runs like a dream. Fans spin up to about half the maximum speed and is relatively quiet.
How about Mac Studio or Mac Pro vs 2024 Top PC running RTX 4090 and 24-core Ryzen? Most serious creators are using desktop computers, at home or at the office.
I have both the Intel and apple silicon Mac pro. The apple silicon one is maxed out the Intel is the 16 core with a pro vega and the max trounces that one, and gives the M2 ultra a run for its money. My PC is a thread ripper with a a6000 ada and it does not beat that one but if you are looking for an all around device that can work anywhere, not just at a desk, the battery and the performance have yet to be beat. If you are going apple, the m3 max gives equal or better performance than all of apples current desktop offerings. My desktops sit idle most of the time as I find i prefer to work anywhere but a desk.
Hello! You got a new subscriber. Nice video, nice format, excellent information, but please consider add the DAVINCI resolve and premiere pro to the charts and the plug power on the Macs, I have a M2 Max and I notice the difference plugged and unplug. C
Excellent video Eddie, I'm glad I came across your channel. I have one question, if you had to personally keep only one machine, which would it be? And why?
The MacBook seems to be the best all around for me. It can run all the creative applications and does so with no noise (awesome for recording voiceovers not having to worry about fan noise) and I can do it at full performance on battery. If I gamed more it would be a harder decision, though.
Again the thing about apple silicon is that its so efficient. Most of the youtubers and hobbyists are most likely going to sit at a desk the whole time they use the machines, whereas people who do editing and rendering as a job will have to be quite mobile and flexible. This is why most of them end up going for the apple silicon equipped machines.
Wait, what does that mean by using power? if you're plugged in there's not point for a razor blade comparison if hands down its not going anywhere without it being plugged in
@@techeddie That's crazy, but expected on a 16" razer. I remember the 70W RTX4090 (GalaxyBook Ultra) was 4x faster than M2 Max in Blender rendering despite the same Geekbench score (bc of ray-tracing)
Oh wow! I am actually shocked. I can't believe M3MAX is so close to 4090 on Razer. I've switched away from MacBooks many generations ago in favor of Razers for the portable part of my 3D work. But I keep dreaming of going back and it looks like the time has come...? Thank you for the video! Would love to see some Houdini tests too!
@@AlfredTsaizer So you would carry around a Mac that doesn't run Windows software properly, and is bad for gaming, and offers no upgrades or repairs? And ski high price too?
Why in the hell would you buy a Razer Blade? Are you comfortable with hot surface temperature burning your palms when you use it under load? Are you fine with all the glitches and bugs on the synapse software? Why would you like using something that gets so loud on the fans and have 0 battery life? If you are going to pay $4k+, why are you settling for this piece of junk?
If you're shelling out all that dough, you need to at least make sure all the creature comforts are present. Just get the M3 Max 16 inch. Unless you need NVIDIA GPU then look for another brand, not Razer Blade.
@anthonyzheng7274 which brand? Asus zephyrus? If Apple, what about gaming? I currently use mbp for game development and encounter some problems(forward+ rendering f.e.). I don't like how shortcuts work and OS lacks of convenient features which windows have. Real benefits are battery performance + slightly better battery life + noise level(don't have razer, not sure about last one)
I have sinned guys... I switched to apple 😢😢 The battery performance is just too good
Who cares lol

Very good video. straight to the point. Great job.
Damn m3 max is a power house. Great vid I'll sub couldn't find this comparison anywhere
A powerhouse that costs like 120% more money XD
This video is a GODSEND. I’ve been looking at buying one of these exact devices specifically for using in After Effects in Blender

your graphics are veryyy clean
Excellent ! Did you use blender 4.0 beta with rt core enable for the the m3 max ?
The latest Blender Benchmark result database shows M3 Max running far behind NVidia 4070, 4080, 4090.
