I've had the thought before that ever advancing technology will do two things, 1) Increase the nation's ability to control the people and 2) Increase the peoples' ability to subvert the nation's control. The internet caused an explosion in this ability. Many technological advances have been made in the last 150 years but understanding of these discoveries and inventions has not filtered down to the general public and remained for the most part in academia and industry, however the internet has changed this too. People can make some very extreme weapons/tools now and it will only get easier without state control. I believe hidden networks are a prime example of this, a tool with massive subverise power which the state cannot control without becoming fully authoritarian.

All economic science seems to disregard the concept of an ethnos, which is a blind spot that western modernity has created. Culture, territory, religion, family... all those things make up an ethnos. The aspect we like the least is the genetic component. But in the west we collectively (lol) agreed to disregard the whole thing when it comes to ourselves, a fault that is being exploited by others whose ethnos is intact.
The concept of a sovereign individual is a luxury reserved for times of security, when the order of the ethnos is threatened neither by chaos from the inside nor from the outside. It is becoming increasingly clear that the west is exiting or has exited that state.

The book has some good predictions, however it falls into the "enlightenment" trap of thinking all people could be sovereign, instead of just 1-2% and what does that lead back to? Absolute Monarchy, with a new digital veneer. The only question then is which new monarchs will be gay and which proper.

Not really, the book even described the neo luddites, the wealth gap between cognitive elites and people who can't reap the benefits. Even more organized crimes will rise.... it's not an enlightenment era. It's just another page of history which will be destined by the incentives of people to utilize the discovered technology, not by any "good politics"

There’s a simple way to gauge a country’s socialism level. The tax burden. In most of the west ‘middle-class’ tax levels are at a level that would cause civil war in earlier centuries. On a personal level there’s no point in me earning more, I’m simply feeding the beast that hates me.

    Dan, topic suggestion:
The idea to totally abolish all production-side taxes and to instead tax consumption, if taxes need remain. Esp. re: states in the US that have income taxes vs those that don't.

We already have consumption taxes, like VAT. Government effectively taxes at both ends, having two sources of income. Why would they deny themselves one of those sources? 😉

12:25 I think the problem isn't the nation state but the lack of it in Ultra globalization !
With the Big changes , the 2030 or 2035 could see more "isolation" , Not importing oil or Natura gas and not importing food , example No more avocado imports because "climate Action" 🤔🤔
