I drive a 2013 C180 with AMG Sport Package, very similar looking to this one. Put 12,000 miles on it in one year and have had zero issues. I love it. Truly timeless design, I love the angular / muscular yet classy lines. It also has fantastic ride quality and comfort for an "entry" level Benz. Can't go wrong with any W204 from that era, and the W205 that came after is different but also pretty good.
There's no "pop up squeaky screen" in my Benz. Clearly you've never been near a w204 or a w205, peasant. Your hate has been returned right back to you, boy. Deal with it@@urugvajchernamazyj6240
Also missing the Xenon headlights, quite rare to see them without. The steering column jamming can easily be fixed by hitting the bottom of the wheel firmly if its in the low position or the top if its in the high position, you also have to push the lever in the direction as to which you are whacking it.
Yup, pull the lever down and pull the wheel vertically down harder than you'd ever imagine you should! Freed mine up and has been perfect ever since! :)
Have a 2009 C230 4Matic (gasoline, Canada) with 174,000kms on it - original owner. Just 2 issues we've had over the last 14 yrs - a busted a/c motor and a busted sensor both which were replaced (expensive). Apart from that - regular maintenance, wear and tear : brake disc/pad changes, tyre replacements (both snow and all seasons - we switch tyres every winter/spring) and a few cosmetic issues (dings, dents, scratches). Still drives like new, and could go on for a few years more. Both kids learnt to drive on the car. Amazing car.
Good looking car despite them being a decade old now, especially in the AMG Line spec, I'm sure whoever buys it will have a nice car - looks like previous owner has kept it pretty well and you've prepped it to your high standard with confidence. Did you fix the steering adjustment (maybe I missed it)?
I’ve got a C220 CDI W204, on a 57 plate. It’s a great car, I love it. Drives and rides just great. Lovely car, and being the elegance it has the 16” wheels which helps with the ride. Not sure what I would even change it for to be honest, I’m trying to keep holding on to it for a while as I’m sure the w204 will become a bit of a modern classic!
The steering column sticks when it’s been left in the fully up or down position. Trust me on this just give the steering wheel a good tap or whack down on top the steering wheel while pressing down on the switch and it will unlock it and work as normal. Nothing is wrong with the switch just something common with those.
My sister has a C200 CDI. Besides me teasing her that it sounds like a Hilux D4D, it's quite solid and has had only few hassles such as a leak on the oil filter housing and a punctured turbo boost pipe (which made Merc lose lots of Power) . After these niggles were sorted, she's all good. Very nice ride and solid all round.
I ‘bought’ 1 if these models from a dealer, test drive all good etc. come to picking it up, 100yards down the road, engine M light and it starts vibrating me in the seat. Hmmm long story short. I went without a car for 6 weeks while they tried to rectify it. By this time I’d lost faith in them, my car as deposit was returned. Eventually. Low and behold with a EM light on. Turns out they wipe any errors on multiple cars. Mercedes wanted £6,000 for anew full wiring loom and other bits. Someone has tried to play about with it, Shame coz yeh are brilliant cars. Great video Matt.
I absolutely love the fact that you’re happy with 18% profit. I also wish I’d contacted you before selling my XF, you’d have loved it. All my recent car transactions seem to be with dealers that are hell bent on at least 30-40% profit with absolutely no conscience whatsoever. Keep doing what you’re doing Matt, love the channel and the honesty.
Our son's BMW E46 318ci was started to give trouble, the dreaded Valetronic Adaption fault, so I got him one of these, the C180. Loves it. The E46 with it's cream leather had a nicer interior, but this generation C Class has a certain timeless elegance
Matt I don't know how you do it, but last week I went on a car look to buy one C250 CDI and when I came home you was just uploaded a video with C250, before that I liked a Lexus for sale in my town and at the night your new video was with Lexus... and today I contacted for a facelifted C class and you just uploaded a video...
Very nice Matt. New owner will be delighted with the car. It is in good as new condition. Years of motoring left in that beauty. Who would want a Tesla when they could drive around in this beautiful Mercedes
The steering wheel column not going up and down is a common fault on these as they seize if you don't use it for a while. The solution is to free it by clicking the button and also putting pressure to help the motor and it will come free. I had this with my w204 and that's how i've fixed it.
When these cars get to 80 thou nasty electrical faults seem to start to appear like exhaust recirculation valve controller and glow plug controller and ignition switch motors ..... all of which cost many hundreds of pounds for a few capacitors and a pcb even from independants. The 250 is probably the best option being twin sequential turbos and yet 50mpg is easily attainable. My 350 was so electrically unreliable and prone to limp home faults that I got rid, despite it having done only 100thou and being looked after meticulously by yours truly.
Watch out for the rotten rear subframes as they dont always spot them on the MOT. Merc are replacing them for free to avoid a scandal. In the USA this is subject to a class qcrltion lawsuit. The subframe issue affets most Merc models from around 2007-2015.
This era of Mercedes really has aged well, this car still looks fresh, even though it’s just over a decade old!. As always well done with the refurb Matt, it looks amazing now, I hope you get your asking price for it😊.
One of the known problems with a 2012 Mercedes is that they can suffer from stone chips, due to motorway miles. Also, check the boot as they sometimes need a good hoovering, as 2012 Mercedes owners often neglected to.
I chuckled when you said the engine light came on (surprised an ebay code reader wasn't in the glovebox) and even more so when you said the brake pipes were corroded. Lets just say my experience of Mercedes echo's both these two things but lovely cars when sorted.
My dad has a C220 2011 plate and he's had nothing but problems with it. It's been in the garage more times then it's been on the road. He is 65 years old and drives it with tlc but Its given him nothing but problems. I have owned pretty much every E class Mercedes and personally I love the space in the E class as C class just isn't big enough for our needs.
I have a c200 from 2013 amg styling. Lovely engine automatic. 186500 km. Looks still almost new. 2nd owner. When i drive no rumble only the nice soundof the engine.
One of the best made cars ever! I own W204 2011 C220 Sport and still drives great! The shape is timeless, especially the front ! I have never had a trouble or breakdown. As long as you keep serviced it will not let you down.
We've got a W204 C180 coupe and a C250 saloon in our house. Both petrol and both great cars. Solid and nice to drive. Can get 50mpg out of the C180 on a run. People complain about the interiors but in my experience they are very solidly built with high quality plastics. Very handsome cars even today. Great vid.
Love this generation of C-class. Nice interior, not too big and good selection of engines. Shame about the no heated seats. Would love a c63 coupe version but unfortunately can't afford the added AMG tax 😂😅
I was surprised at the cost of bringing it up to scratch, especially given its apparent good condition, but what a good buy for the new owner! Well done, Matt - a confident profit, I hope! 👍
I have a 2012 C350cdi…it’s a FANTASTIC car…! Brilliant performance and I can get 60mpg on a run…Just bought. 2021 Alfa….had it for 3 months, similar performance but the Merc so much better as a car, selling the Alfa and keeping the Merc, so easy to drive with the massive torque….Alfa does 25mpg…had the Merc for 9 years, done 100,000 and only had 2 small issues (maf sensor and wheel speed sensor) massively underrated and a BRILLIANT car…!!!
Superb video, and again such a a well sorted car. Truly a trusted used car salesman. Can't wait to buy a car off you one day when I get the chance. You were the first person I ever started to follow on TH-cam! This is a nice car and if someone looks after it should run well for many years to come
I would definitely consider buying one of those. Another informative upload....keep up the good work. I may get round to buying one of your cars at some point.....
I just got her, a 2012 C250 Advantgrade pre-owned. Ride's lovely, looks very fresh, feature packed and pretty reliable. I have done around 3K miles and I love her. Common issues with these models as mentioned by Matt are the steering tilt and lock. Other than these, she is a timeless beauty.
Nice job done on the Merc. Just curious - all those repair, service and refurbish costs - were they charged at trade/discounted costs, or at normal retail costs? They sound quite low.
Nice car. I like the 250's especially the estate. The deal breaker for me would be lack of heated seats 😢 ....but that's a personal thing, the main point is it's worth 8k all day long with the mileage and history. In fact Matt, i thing you're being generous.

Hi Matt great video as ever missed cup holders and engine inspection . Noticed your voice on first bit of video was a bit rusty but you got over that in second half. Take care hope it ,s a quick sale.
Most farmers in Wales drove the old Land Rover Defender until about 7 years ago - now tbey drive pick ups such as tbe Izusu, ford ranger, nissan navarra, toyota hilux etc. Can you buy a farmer’s vehicle?
no budget, but I love that you say you overspent but did the items, which I would do if I were selling Used cars. The car looks amazing, keep up the great content.
it's funny to me that you say that you're probably going to list it for sale at £8000 because here in Italy you could easily sell it for 12/13k euros 😂 the car market is crazy currently
Had one of these new back in the day. No doubt I’ll be corrected but I’m sure it was a forerunner to AMG Line - I believe they called it AMG Sport. Sure they only came in certain colours too. Mine was black. Think the spec was as it came. Was a nice car but only kept it 4 months. Used to change cars 3 times a year back then!
@markyboy7012 The AMG Sport was introduced in 2005 when Mercedes took control of AMG . This would have been on the W203 C Class and the C209CLKand @A209 CLK The launch of the AMG Sport package was introduced on the CLK range first and then the C Class followed. I managed to pick up a top of the line 2013 AMG sport plus with 55k miles, for £6.2k from a dealership back in 2020. Still drive it to this day and apart from spending £500 pound to replace an xenon light , it has only required general maintenance, think I struck gold with that purchase!
that's one very handsome C-Class! these W204 are those 'one car fits all purposes' cars, only if you have 4 kids or transport cows on a daily basis, pretty much any version with any spec will suit you
I think oddly optioned cars are a function of how many options a lot of cars have… you can quickly rack up the cost. My Volvo C30 R Design D5 has almost everything, including the Dynaudio sound system, keyless entry and start, full leather interior (really unusual in an R Design), powerfold mirrors, Blis… but it has no trip computer or heated seats… and thankfully no satnav (it’s pretty terrible and antiquated, you don’t want it).
The electric steering column up/down adjust on my E Class stopped working as well (reach adjust was fine). I found that because it was left at the top position it just got a bit stuck, once it had freed off it was fine. I tweaked the adjustment on the memory seats to ensure that it didn't sit right at the top and it has been fine ever since.
Not sure, but from a few shots the bonnet looks flat with very little reflection. This era was a great looking C Class unlike the current one which is totally bland, still a very nice turnaround on this one Matt.
This era of Merc's is by far one of the good looking ones. Well done , Matt that'll be someone's pride and joy for another few years!
Not watched it yet and i just know he's overspent on this hasn't he? 😂
I'm sure he has. Haha.
Yep😂
Yes 😂
What makes you say that!? ; )
‘Massively overspent’
The facelifted w204 is my favorite C Class, still looks great, drives well, has a good comfort package and it’s reliable.
Genuinely don't understand sellers that don't clean a car before putting it for sale.

250 cdi is the one to go for. 45mpg and decent performance. E class coupe of similar vintage gets my vote 👍

very good cars. One of the cars I regret selling was a C200 Kompressor, smooth, quiet and fast enough. Somehow managed 40mpg, too.

Let's be honest, who wouldn't buy a car from Matt. All you ever want is a fair deal for a properly sorted motor with no unpleasant, hidden surprises.
Good looking car, but the halogen headlamps kinda cheapens the look. Xenons look much better on this car.
Good stock stereo system on this generation and model of Mercedes.

Not sure, but from a few shots the bonnet looks flat with very little reflection. This era was a great looking C Class unlike the current one which is totally bland, still a very nice turnaround on this one Matt.
Bit suspicious that engine light coming on 10 minutes after buying it…
You forgot to mention the paddle shifters and whether that steering wheel mechanism was sorted!
Plenty of life in the old bus yet another plodder saved well done to you and the team 😊
Love the facelift versions of these Mercedes C class, the C250 is great and gets a lot from a remap too.
Hey matt nice car - I have a C280 2008 model - I'm surprised that you didn't change the number plates!!
Good review, Matt. These are very good cars and some lucky person will ne very happy with it
