    Hi everyone ! I just wanted to let you know that I used the honey-yogurt mixture for 1.5 hours, as well as exited the shower with cold hair, AND wetted it once more (coldly) from the sink. Oh yeah, I ALSO dried it with a t-shirt. Results...
    This works like a charm! I swear my hair has never been so beautiful. I got compliments, I got looks, my god it was amazing. TONIGHT I'm going to apply the coconut milk and lime mixture :))). This is so exciting I'm so happy, and I feel so beautiful and natural.

      Oh my god you are my twin !! except I'm 14 lol :D Little advice, do not, I repeat do NOT fall for chemically strenghtening!! It's gonna look so pretty and "healthy" but after like 6 months it's gonna be the worst ever ! 10x frizzier ! Trust me I learned it the hard way :'( :'(
      What I would recommend you is giving it a lot of natural masks, what works the best for me is a little something my mom used to whip up for me, so basically just half an avocado and a tablespoon or two of olive oil (make sur it's super good quality :D) and just let them sit in your hair for like half an hour or so, and then wash your hair REALLY well so that none of the avocado is left :) And try to put just a teeeny bit of olive oil in your hair after you get out of the shower :)
      Also don't go for shampoos and conditionners that say they're gonna make your hair silkier and stuff like that, because buying those products is only gonna add stupid chemicals that you don't want :/ Another little thing that kinda works for me is the onion mask that Andrea did just recently, and also try and make everything you put in your hair organic and natural, and try to minimize the products you use in general, I cut them down so much that basically all I use now is Shampoo and leave in conditionner !! I used to have SO many products xD
      Sorry for making such a huge text, I just kinda felt for you since I really miss my shiny wavy hair :'( so much that I gave you so many tips haha :') lol but don't worry I still have a million up my sleeve :D

      Tysm and i was going to do the chemical straightening thing but i search up stuff like how to tame frizz and this lady said your hair gets worser when the chemicals come off.Also since you told me this ill try to use the first recipe every time i wash meh hair astop using products to tame frizz (i have like a bunch) so ty dis really helped :) :3

    • @tayaelb56
      @tayaelb56 10 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Maria Proskurina G.G.m Yeah well that's just how unfair life is, I'm pretty sure that why all our hair was ruined when we grew up was because of either chemicals, or filthy humid air, or something like that I mean my hair got ruined because when I was super young like probably 8 or 7, I was a swimmer, and I used to shower by myself because It was too awkward for me to let anyone see me naked even if it's my mom (I'm still that way lol I'm just a little more grown up xD) but I really wish I let my mom wash my hair for me, because it's me not washing my hair correctly, leaving shampoo and Chlorine in it and washing my hair everyday made it super dry and frizzy so :/

    I've been using coconut oil and rinsing my hair with cold water for months now, and yes, it makes a HUGE difference. May hair grows really fast, and it stays smooth. I do dye it, and all the natural stuff I use on it keeps it healthy to counter the dye ^o^

    • @heyidcxd439
      @heyidcxd439 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I dye my hair too but I don't dye my hair with real dye. I know it may sound crazy but I dye my hair with kool aid. The dye lasts it for a month (sometimes even weeks). I have dark hair so some of the kool aids don't work on my hair :( Really I love the results try it out! Use the unsweetened kind btw!

      How do you use the coconut oil? Like as a conditioner or just after shower. Because my hair gets really frizzy and poofy and I use gel to tame it but I don't like it because I feel like it drys my hair out so I really want to try the coconut oil

    • @Katxo1831
      @Katxo1831 10 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      What I do is I massage the oil in my hair let it sit for however long (At least 5 minutes, you can even do over night if you wish) Then wash it out, you may have to do 2 washes, depending on the thickness of your hair.
      You could also put 1 part coconut oil (melted) and 3 parts water in a spray bottle and spray a little (not to soak it, or it will get too oily) of that into your hair after a shower, and brush it through, add a few drops of essential oil if you wish.
      Every hair type is different so I hope this works for you, good luck!

    When I get out the shower, I put some olive oil on my wet hair and it weighs my hair down enough so when it air drys its nice and curly and not too much like a poofy afro. DONT put the olive oil on your roots just keep it from your ears down. Its a quick way to style my hair and it conditions at the same time, just dont do it too often to avoid build up.

    Andrea, I just had to THANK YOU for this! THese treatments work miracles, and way better than anything I've bought in the store. Also, I've found that if you leave the coconut milk uncovered in the fridge for a day, it gets to a yogurt-like consistency and is way easier to apply to your hair. If you leave just a little bit in a bowl in the fridge for a week or so, it turns into a butter you can apply to dry hair as a leave-in balm to get rid of frizzies.

    i Like that you mentioned that cold water closes out pores aswell the cold water naturally turns the coconut oil into a solid thus +defense verse humidity/frizz by also locking in moister, Cold pressed EV Coconut oil still is a good choose.

    Also, other good tip is that don't cut your hair too short. The shorter and lighter your hair is, the puffier it gets.
    Plus, I recommend to tie your hair when you go to sleep. That way when you wake up your hair won't look like after an explosion, like mine does. I braid my hair loosely (I also use some bobby pins to set it right) before I go to sleep. I'd use some kind of night cap too if I found a good one. I bet it would work too.
    I've been using the olive oil thing and cold water for over two years now and they work. I think I'll start using the coconut DIY too, just because my hair is super curly and frizzy. 8)

    A lot of people try to use olive oil, either plain or mixed with something, and find that it is too heavy or too greasy for their hair. (I have baby fine hair, can't use it.) 2 great alternatives are argon oil or coconut oil.
    A note about coconut oil for those who are unfamiliar with it. It has a low melting point. Kept in my cabinet, it is liquid in the summer, and solid (like shortening) in the winter. To melt it for use, put it in a small bowl or jar and place it in a larger bowl or pan of hot water. I've heard that microwaving it or heating it in a pot ruins some of the beneficial properties. I haven't been able to confirm this, but until I do I'll play it safe.

    Or if you're lazy and don't really like to wait hours with hair masks on,but still want great hair you can just use coconut oil with your conditioner every time you wash your hair!
    Mix some coconut oil with your conditioner (super lazy girls may put the oil directly in the cointaner,just saying),wet you hair and apply the mixture ( not too much on your scalp,plenty on the tips) and leave it for few minutes while you go on with your shower/bath scrubbing,shaving and everything.If you have curly hair you should gently brush it with this conditioner on then rinse it off and apply&rinse your shampoo as usual and... you‘re done. Air dry or use a dryer with diffuser after styling your hair with some styling foam or gel or whatever you fancy.
    Yes,the shampoo is AFTER the conditioner to remove the extra oil moisture.

    • @AthenaRowe
      @AthenaRowe 10 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's better to comb your hair while you have the mixture on it and you should definitely leave it on for some minutes while you go on with your shower/bath.Rinsing the conditioner and oil and applying shampoo (this,on the other hand,you just rub it on your scalp and then rinse off quickly,don't let it sit too much on the lenght of your hair) should be the last thing in your shower routine.

    How does lime help hair? My first assumption is that lime is highly acidic and would strip your hair of the oils it needs. I can see how itll clean your hair as it does with skin, but im curious how that wouldnt dry out frizzy hair

    • @ctbily574
      @ctbily574 8 ปีที่แล้ว +29

      Hair is naturally slightly acidic, but the alkalis in shampoo strip the acid away from the hair, thus drying it out and frizzing it. The acid in the lime restores the natural acid mantle in the hair, making it softer and smoother. Hope this helps :)

    Nice tips Andrea! Only thing I have to add is that the tip for rinsing with cold water is only useful is your hair is already damaged OR is naturally high in porosity. That means that if you hair soaks up water quickly but dries quickly too, then that tip may work. Otherwise, if you have hair with low porosity that takes forever to get wet and takes forever to dry, rinsing with cold water does not really help. That has been the case for me, at least. Great tips otherwise! :)

    I do an egg-yolk mask about every month just mix an egg yolk and a tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil for about a min, add a cup of water, heat it up on the stove until its warm, and then apply all over your hair except for roots and let it dry to the point where its just barely a little wet. Wash it out with cold water, and there ya go :) defiantly gonna try some of these too ! c:

    I on the other hand, am ugly + I have the most disgusting type of hair ever (Hagrid is goals for me).

      You have said it all. I connect with this. None of my family members really get my struggle except for a white aunt as a half Chinese with super frizzy hair (compared to a lot of relatives) and straightening doesn't help. My hair really has no natural shape and isn't even that curly or wavy or even straight. It is slightly coarse and will easily become wavy when I braid dry hair at night but it comes with the price of frizz in three hours.

    My only tip, is instead of combing out your hair outside after a shower; try combing your hair during a co-wash (meaning your "shampooing" your scalp w/ conditioner) while your still in the shower, and after your done combing rinse in cold water and re-apply conditioner and let it sit, and again rinse in cold water. After that - while I'm still in the shower - I apply my product if Im going to use any that day. I try to do everything in the shower; I believe the only thing that should be done outside the shower is waiting for your hair to dry and/or using a diffuser like you do.

  • @discoduckling
    @discoduckling 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Also, going to the Co Washing technique really helps with curly hair, and if you cannot do that, make sure your shampoo has no sulfates and your conditioner has no silicone. HUGE difference.

    i used the coconut+ egg from another video and also the coconut milk+lemon. I have lots of hair and I left it over night. I used the coconut milk+lemon twice a week and coconut+ egg once a month. you will see the difference after the first try and you become addicted to it after 3-4 times. and as she said no heat for the hair. I hope it helps :)

    You are like the only person on Facebook I've ever seen with hair like mine. Thank you SOOOO Much for these tips! I've been doing the "rewet" thing every since I realized that the common factor for my best hair ever was letting it dry from totally soaked (like after a day in the ocean)

    • @my2cents2u
      @my2cents2u 10 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use this recipe when I want to mimic the "beach waves" I get from swimming in the ocean. Epsom salt can be found in any drugstore - do not substitute with anything else. I leave out the sea salt for softer waves.
      > DIY Salt Water Spray Recipe <
      •1 cup of hot water (not boiling)
      •2 tablespoons Epsom Salt (more for extra texture)
      •1/2 tsp Sea Salt (optional but adds stiffness)
      •1 teaspoon aloe vera gel
      •1/2 tsp of Earth's Nectar conditioner
      Shake up ingredients, spritz heavily throughout hair, scrunch and let dry naturally (or use a diffuser with low heat if you're in a hurry) for long-lasting waves.

    ANDREA! I have basically the same hair as you & Brittany, they some of my curls are coils, some are S-Waves and some are just frizzy patches towards my neck/underside area. I straighten my hair about once a week and leave it straight for almost 3 days so I wont keep straightening it throughout the week. I now have heat damage to the bottoms though, how can i reverse it and bring back my natural curls :(? i know you sometimes apply heat to your hair via blow dryer -_-

    • @nellybug94
      @nellybug94 11 ปีที่แล้ว

      You should do a protein treatment with a egg and coconut oil..but don't do it often cause too much protein is bad maybe once every two or three months and you should also deep condition every week with coconut oil and honey..stay away from the straightener for a while also let your hair air dry till it's about 70% dry and then blow dry..and even when you blow use a heat protectant like the tresseme one..hope that helps..

    if your hair is really dry and frizzy, then using shampoo only maybe once or twice a week shouldn't be too much of a problem. the extra oils will hydrate your hair. if you have fine, straight, shiny hair then you should shampoo more often.... also the t-shirt thing is so true!

    I have super thick curly hair and realized that it is really helpful for the texture of the curl to stay nice and pretty, to de-tangle my hair while in the shower with my conditioner still in it; it helps me not damage it as much and saves me about 15 minutes of struggling to detangle it. I let it sit in a bun while I shave and then rinse out in shower, so when I come out I can just towel dry and add product :P
