I love him ... why? for a few reasons. 1. His fucking HAIR AND BEARD! I MEAN FUCKING SERIOUSLY!? 2. He's probably one of the coolest and laid back dudes in metal... and he's not full of shit 3. He gets his tone (which is fucking BEAUTIFUL... PURE METAL KATCHUNK!) from very affordable gear. He's showing his fans and people that want to play guitar but can't afford expensive shit, you can get as far as he has with VERY affordable gear and Imagination/Creativity! he's a fucking legend! \m/ Rock On
I'd love to argue with Wayne about his cheap gear cus I'm a gear snob, but every time I saw them they sounded great, the PA system at the venue I always saw them at is one of the best in the world so thag helps too. RIP Wayne, you're missed homie!
All that I can say is that the guitar sound of Wisconsin Death Trip is THE most brutal, perfectly chunky and smooth, rhythm sound that I have ever heard bar none!!! I challenge anyone to show me a better, meaner guitar sound. I WILL say that Dime's Far Beyond Driven sound is a close second, but just listen to a couple of songs like track 5 'I AM' or 11 'The Trance is the Motion.' I mean, it's completely jaw-dropping!!! It's heaven!
I agree about that tone. It seems that Koichi's VHT setup was rarely mentioned though. I know the MG would have needed help with a PA. Even Wayne said the MG isn't that loud.
Ok so there's some people who still seem a little unclear on the situation. Wayne is using the Epiphones (ESP now as well) and Marshall MG because he likes how it sounds. No point in bashing that. You're absolutely allowed to have an opinion, but there's no real point in criticizing people about their taste...it's what they like. If you don't like it, don't listen. No point in flaming, really.
Well he says it right therein the interview...he plays it because he likes it. Right now he's actually got a signature ESP model. But I'm sure he still uses the Gibsons and Epiphones a fair amount.
you can get a good sound out of a mg if you take the time. Get a mg half stack and replace the speakers with 2 vintage 30s and 2 g12t 75s and you will have a good sound for distortion.
I own a Warlock, its a great guitar but a little too heavy to use playing live. When I was in a band I could play maybe 5 songs in a row, then just put it down for an Ibanez. Personally, I wanna get a Jackson, those things are amazing.
Yeah I think everybody can pretty much agree that Epiphones suck. I don't know much about the MG marshall but I'm guessing it's the squiers of the marshalls. I actually bought his guitar but it was just the flying v gothic so I had more control over my sound (like it mattered). 400 dollars for what should have been 25. They should have given those things away in happy meals.
tho i do have to admit, even the cheep $100 dean vendetta xm was a suprise to me, was damn near setup the way i like it the pickup's were even raised the way i like them, and it has a decent tone.tho its its quite has meaty sounding as my bronze but its a good guitar. but thats probably due to it being tuned drop C, and my dean is only drop d
And another thing, artists always have their guitars and amps custom when ur making that much. I bet you anything that his guitar is completely different in terms of pickups and wiring from the ones they sell as the "Wayne Static" guitar.
because they have junk pickup's. any of the $50 rockfield pickup's makes the bronze sound sweet, ive got LP pups in mine and most are surprised to hear it sounds good as it does.you get what you pay for
i prefer dean guitars with line 6 amplifiers. but i would also use esp guitars. im into radical design with brutal punchy tone and those are the best guitars for that tone. i have found bc.riches have too much gain/treble.
I would say some are some arent. I had a really nice 1997 LP Standard that I regret selling. I had gotten it secondhand at a good price and it was definitely worth what I paid for it considering "how much guitar I got for the money". Also had a few other Gibsons that werent as nice and also a 2001 SG Classic that was pretty nice. I say tru and find something made before 2002 if youre getting a Gibson. I bought all the ones Ive had long before the pandemic and it was probably a lot easier finding a good deal on a used one then.
any cheep guitar is inferior to the upper models...all it takes is 10 minutes to adjust the bridge.and throw on a set of grover or locking tuners and your good to go. mine soon will have a floyd rose but still.
dude, people change nobody knows if you are gonna think the same that you believe time ago sorry, but wayne only choose what he think is the best for play
ive played many guitars. from high end to low end.only guitars ive played that were near perfect. were the Dean dimebag guitars. every guitar company has a shit line of guitars.
I don't endorse the Marshall MG series...I agree with you, they totally suck. You would not find me playing one of those amps. I really do not like them. Terrible tone. As for the Epiphones, I KNOW that the only reason he's playing them is because of endorsements. But maybe he does actually like them.
no offense:D just dont like when people get false info, "nowamsen"? (god, im a comic genious...) But I think they have played some just dropped D... although I'm not shure.
He uses that gross ass marshall!? That guy really doesnt know about good tone or music for that matter. But im not talkin shit, i give static x props for just being big and havin a lot of fans i guess. But any decent guitarist knows the guitar in their songs is a joke. Then again music doesnt have to be skilled to be good. They write catchy songs ill give em that much.
"Why that particular one?"
"Because I like it."
"They have newer versions that are out--"
"I don't care."
That.... is awesome.
I love him ... why? for a few reasons.
1. His fucking HAIR AND BEARD! I MEAN FUCKING SERIOUSLY!?
2. He's probably one of the coolest and laid back dudes in metal... and he's not full of shit

Ragzy I completely agree with you! I love the tone on Wisconsin Death Trip, it really cuts through the mix.
1999% agree with you.
I agree about that tone. It seems that Koichi's VHT setup was rarely mentioned though. I know the MG would have needed help with a PA. Even Wayne said the MG isn't that loud.
What you are hearing Wayne play on the Wisconsin death trip album is a Gibson Les Paul through a Marshall Valvestate 8100 amp
"you know what im sayin?"lol waynes kick ass
Wayne Static is awesome !
R.I.P. Wayne Static. This SUCKS. I was a huge fan of his music.
that was a realy smart shit he said there i play guitar for about 5 years and i never had any prolems whit my gear he is right rock on wayne
Lol its funny cuz the newest interview he had hes all about ESP
wayne you are my idol man i love static-x
Lmfao, the look on his face when he says “kiss plays Gibson.” 😅
Oh, another person who’s not from 15 years ago.
Yknow what am sayin
Agree with him, all in the wrist.
what a neat idea!
True words.
Ok so there's some people who still seem a little unclear on the situation.

Yeah, as of the start of 2007. This was uploaded in 2006, before the endorsement.
Well he says it right therein the interview...he plays it because he likes it.
Right now he's actually got a signature ESP model. But I'm sure he still uses the Gibsons and Epiphones a fair amount.
Believe it or not he used a Les Paul to record their 1st record.
wayne is my idol he is a god
Black Label in the background...they're fucking awesome...same with Static-X
gibson is alright. i love my 78 strat though. wayne switched to esp shortly after this interview.
kiss also played Ibanez...you know what im sayin'? lol
His signature Epiphone aint easy to find and if u do the ones I've seen are expensive asf!
yea seriously. plus they can get really light with the randy rhoads style v.
you can get a good sound out of a mg if you take the time. Get a mg half stack and replace the speakers with 2 vintage 30s and 2 g12t 75s and you will have a good sound for distortion.

im getting the MG100DFX head.. its the one he uses, and yeah, its kickass, and only $350 too
look at the black label banner in the back fuck yea
dude for most of what static-x plays, they have there guitars tuned to drop D. to make it lower and heavier.
Wayne is 42 years old.
Not really, he was given a ESP by Sean from the band SOIL. I don't think is is actually endorsed by them, though...but he may be nowadays.
They should have given those things away in happy meals.
my bad. i dont know much about guitars but i knew it was tuned to drop somthing.
ITs all good in the hood.
tho i do have to admit, even the cheep $100 dean vendetta xm was a suprise to me, was damn near setup the way i like it the pickup's were even raised the way i like them, and it has a decent tone.tho its its quite has meaty sounding as my bronze but its a good guitar.
but thats probably due to it being tuned drop C, and my dean is only drop d
I can't believe I'm seeing a full page of arguments about his age. It's not like it's group theory.
he always says ' you not what im sayin' haha i say that alot aswell
I'll give you that one.
acctually... they tune to drop A# or C
I have no idea why he jumped ship or if ESP is offering him money, but he's really waxing lyrical about Gibson/Epiphone here.
Akai MPC 2000 is SIICK! u can anything with it if u put your mind to it
it dosent matter what kinda guitar u have,
if u put enought munny into it u kan make it sound how u want it
ya know what im saying
@beano1eye later he also used gibson v's ace used les pauls gene used gibson grabber
that is his custom speaker
its all in the rist, now what im sayin
He's with ESP now...
does anyone know how much one of those guitars would go for?
i think so,
he just recently switched
He's right about how you perceive things. I always perceived the Epiphone as a lower quality Gibson wanna-be.
1:41 check it out, know what I'm sayin?
He plays ESP LTD now.
yea that is funny
"kiss play gibson....nowamsen?" - "cause they want the best... nowamsen?"
wayne i know what you are saying.
And another thing, artists always have their guitars and amps custom when ur making that much. I bet you anything that his guitar is completely different in terms of pickups and wiring from the ones they sell as the "Wayne Static" guitar.
His last name is actually Wells.
@ragzy02 Check out the album "City" by Strapping Young Lad, best metal guitar tone ever if you ask me.
Paul Stanley used Ibanez!
Haha this guy is awesome ^_^ I thought he was high :P
he is now but he used 2 b with gibson n them
Thats what I just got done saying....
because they have junk pickup's. any of the $50 rockfield pickup's makes the bronze sound sweet, ive got LP pups in mine and most are surprised to hear it sounds good as it does.you get what you pay for
this musta been b4 he switched to ESP
Jasjasjas creí que Wayne era un poco alto pero está chaparrito xD
i prefer dean guitars with line 6 amplifiers. but i would also use esp guitars. im into radical design with brutal punchy tone and those are the best guitars for that tone. i have found bc.riches have too much gain/treble.
does anyone know what's the equivalent of Marshall MX100 today?
its the mg100hdfx. it is really affordable and sounds amazing. one of the best ss amps out there.
@@sinisterfame622 thanks man, awesome! :)
"no bullshit interference" :D
nov 4 1965 or somethin around the 4th....so what...42?
Isnt he endorsed by ESP?
Hey what the hell's an Akai?

No Wayne... I don't know what your saying lol
however.. im really not sold on gibsons, i just dont think theyre worth anything near their cost
I would say some are some arent.
I had a really nice 1997 LP Standard that I regret selling.
I had gotten it secondhand at a good price and it was definitely worth what I paid for it considering "how much guitar I got for the money". xD
I'm usaully bored out my mind when bands talk about their gear, but this wasnt' the case when I was watching Wayne... I wonder...
any cheep guitar is inferior to the upper models...all it takes is 10 minutes to adjust the bridge.and throw on a set of grover or locking tuners and your good to go.
mine soon will have a floyd rose but still.
haha yeah somebody changed their tune as soon as he started playing something other than a gibson
i dont give a shit about the guitar... wayne static is fucking HOT!
i have a schecter hellraiser and a omen long live schecter im notta gibson marshall guy i like crate and im to poor for mesa lol
A Marshall MG? Are you serious? I couldn't imagine a professional trusting one of those. It's a total beginner amp o.O Weird
how tall was he ?
Wayne 1.79 (5'11/12")
whooo i own his guitar! its fucking awesome :D
Want to sell it to me?
@@powerhitter033 I could be tempted. It is the epiphone one
@@Morgoth136 Yeah and blacked out.
How much do you want for it?
@@powerhitter033 I could let it go for $300
Is he drunk or something? lol, he acted a little weird in this interview.
dude, people change
nobody knows if you are gonna think the same that you believe time ago
sorry, but wayne only choose what he think is the best for play
I have a warlock, and they aren't that good. The tone isn't all that great, but they do look badass. If you want good tones, go les paul.
ive played many guitars. from high end to low end.only guitars ive played that were near perfect. were the Dean dimebag guitars.
every guitar company has a shit line of guitars.
Wayne Static > Gibson imo
um, dont ALL moms complain about every little thing?
I don't endorse the Marshall MG series...I agree with you, they totally suck. You would not find me playing one of those amps. I really do not like them. Terrible tone.

Epiphone's are just as junk as a first act.
B.C Rich and Dean forever
or maybe they play the guitar because they enjoy it.
instead of tryin 2 make money
he's 31 he was born in november so he doesn't turn 32 until november.
He uses that gross ass marshall!? That guy really doesnt know about good tone or music for that matter.
