Another great episode Arnaldo, The ep I have is with the Smiths logo on the cover which you state it’s a second reissue. I always thought I had the first pressing with the actor on the cover. I too prefer the Hatful version better. I didn’t know the other two b sides were also different on the Hatful collection. I always learn something new watching your Smiths videos..👍

Maybe one day the “collection” will be the topic of a future video. I just hope it won’t be boring. I still have a few holes in the collection that I need to fill first. 😉

Learning so much about this band through this series. Even bought a Smiths record today out of town. Becoming an #influencer A! 🤘🏻

Hi Arnaldo, really enjoying the smiths videos. I’ve no idea if this is true or not but it’s my understanding it Rita Tushingham who was the cover star on Hand in Glove was a friend of Terrance Stamp and she convinced him to give permission for the use of his image. I wasn’t aware of the lyric change or the fact there is no run out etching so will be giving my versions a listen this evening and examining the dead wax. I agree with your thoughts on Hatful of Hollow, I think all the versions on there in general are great sounding. Love this type of trivia, keep them coming! Andy

Interesting info on Rita. It very well could be that was the case regarding Stamp’s approval. Thank you for watching !

Interesting you mention all of the overdubs that Marr added to this track, I was playing their 1st album a few days ago (swifter'ing floors lol) and was appreciating how lush the guitar work is on this song. I cannot recall a Smith mix tape of mine growing up WITHOUT this track...always loved it lyrically b/c no matter how bad this relationship was / was not that he was sharing with the listener, Morrisey was "still fond" of them (oh, uh, oh) & I always related having a few relationships like that myself growing up 😏. Love this series Arnaldo!

Love hearing details of the Smith records. One of my very favorite bands of the 80s. Stories of these records are new to me so thank you Arnaldo for this series. Keep em coming ✌🏻

Another excellent episode! So many interesting facts that portrait the history of the band, there have been so many changes, different takes, different issues and represses in the path of The Smiths...I believe it´s another reason why they are still so relevant and interesting for younger music lovers. Thanks again for showing this to the world. Greetings from Argentina, once again. (Can´t wait to see Morrissey again here in Buenos Aires, he had to reschedule the show because he got dengue in Mexico...hope next month he would share another unique evening, we love him dearly here in the south of the south).

Thanks. This was enjoyable. I went back and listened to the different versions online, and I noticed two of them are in different keys. If you mentioned that, I missed it (sorry!), but I wonder if that accounts for why Morrissey in particular might have liked one better than another. This is my reigning fave song of theirs so far, so thanks for doing a whole discussion of it.

I gather you are a musician to have picked up on the two different keys. I did not. 😊 Thank you for mentioning it. 👍🏻

@@fidelios_frequency It was the listening to the two versions back-to-back that called attention to it; I was trying to hear the drum differences you mentioned, especially intrigued by what you said about someone calling one of them more R&B inflected.
