One of the reasons I got out of the sports card business in 2020 was because of grading. It just made the greed even worse. I'm all for flipping and investing in cards, but unless you bow down the grading gods, it makes selling raw cards almost impossible. Everyone want immaculate cards that they could grade for a 10.
So interesting. It's crazy how much the seller is trying to flog those records at a baseball card event. The pressing for "The Thriller" album was huge so IMHO the value of a record also depends on its rarity value on top of that, the vinyl and sleeve condition and so forth. It would be interesting to know if he actually sold any of these over-priced records. Excellent topic and video!
@retromusings Thank you, RM. A lot of us are wondering if this seller has actually ever sold any of these. I doubt it. This might be like another eBay situation where anyone on there can ask for astronomical prices, but they aren't exactly selling them. Thanks for your feedback, RM. 👍🏻 😊
This is unbelievable Glenn. Ive run in to similar situations (though not $2500) at a few flea markets. Water damaged Beatles represses going for $100... absolutely nuts. As Mr. T used to say... I Pity the Fool that actually falls for this and purchases it... great video..
This looks like a subliminal way to launder money. But I'm a cynic sometimes. My grail is a 1st press UK DSOTM that i got for $1500.00 complete and the vinyl is almost NM while the cover has a small amount of damage. Why would i put it behind plastic? Records are meant to be played. How would I 100% know the A2-B2 disc is still inside? You can buy frames for ten bucks. Just my 2 pennies. 😊
@@tokyorecordstyle Absolutely Brian. I had to share this information with everyone. It's outrageous. And come to find out, this is actually a trend. Unbelievable.
Hey pal. Great and fun video. Thanks for sharing. You had me at Gemco. The first record I ever got was in a Gemco in the city of LaMirada. Though I have to say your first album is cooler than mine as I chose Chipmumk Punk.
