I don’t have this Jacket but do have other Fjallraven G1000 gear. The G1000 fabric gets better with age. After a few wears and washes it softens and moulds to your body.
All their G1000 products come pre-waxed and you are just washing out the wax which makes the material softer. The tradeoff is you are also losing water and wind resistance.
@@martink7279 that is also true. Thats the beauty of these products. You can add wax where and when you need it and washing it out lets you re apply when needed again. I personally dont do that with this jacket because of the down but in my other jackets I definately use this to my advantage. Why add wax everywhere? Maybe you just want extra protection on your shoulders or elbows etc etc.
Wow love the look too. Expensive but seems top quality, so rare these days! On a side note, DH is a retired phone repair splicer, climbed a lot of poles in his day. He was happy to finally get a bucket truck as the years went by, but as you know you can't use a bucket everywhere! I subscribed after viewing your camp stove kit video, excellent info. Be safe on those poles and thank you for your reviews. 😊
Awesome, another Telcom spec watching the channel! Yes the jacket is expensive but I got mine on a good deal. 300ish I believe. Best jacket I've owned. Didn't end up being my go to camping setup because of the layering issues I ran into, but it served me well in long hours in the cold at work and around town.
Warm enough even during peak winter with two layers underneat like what you are wearing in the video? I actually never owned a thick jacket/parka and have always been a multiple layering method like a person. (base, fleece, not so thick down jacket, shell)
Depends on the conditions. I was always perfectly comfortable in winter but it peaks at single digit Temps....can't get enough layers underneath to push it much past that.
I've had mine for a year now. First month owning it, the stitching on one of the shoulders started to pull apart (I noticed this when I went to put the fjallraven wax on it). It's not massive, but for the price I did not expect any stitching issue before some hard use. It is fixable though, which I will get to doing.
Wow. I put mine through plenty of hard days in the woods and at work and never had an issue. Also, I can't remember if I mention it or not, but I wouldn't suggest waxing it. Just my opinion.
@@Mjukost-5 maybe I would after the season... I'm more afraid of never actually recieving it back. Their customer support does not have the best reputation, and it would have to ship overseas which, at that point I'm not sure its worth the risk.
@Keyser_Soze739 the jacket has down in it and I feel as though you'll get residue wax to work it's way into the down. I also think the jacket performs best as a breathable tough wearing jacket vs going for that waterproof feeling.
I would suggest a layering system for the harshest of winters. No one jacket will fit every scenario, but a good layering system can deal with almost any scenario.
@@AbundantAdventures Yes, I was thinking that myself. I do like a single jacket though. I have had an old north face parka for many years but it's finally time to replace it. I am sceptical of the quality these days though. I will keep researching.
@picturemaker quality is a big concern. Fjallraven makes a really nice parka I want to get some day to try out. It's called the singi down jacket. Thats going to be a bit warmer than the jacket in this video and would be a better choice if your looking for something for 0F Temps. Ofcourse i would look at other manufacturers and options as well to compare. I also consider price and discounts at the time of purchase too...
@@AbundantAdventures I was looking at that one. I have a few things from Fjällräven and have always been happy with the quality. Have you any experience with Amundsen sports?
@picturemaker no I have no experience with amundsen sports. Looks like they have some scandi clothing which is right up my alley but I haven't tried them yet.
Interesting observation as goes waxing and the down. Helpful review. Thanks.
Glad it helped.
I’m envious of your well organized shed
Haha thank you. I usually clean it out when I open and close the pool...
Lol seriously, I need to figure out an organization scheme for mine

Fjällräven's clothes are the nicest on the market
Gotta admit I'm quite the fan boy as well. Price is the only deterence for most folks.

@@AbundantAdventures I only lightly wax the shoulder and the forearm area. Nothing crazy, just enough to give it a little exrtra in those areas.

For the info...what size are you wearing?
Medium.
