  • Pocket Queens are usually easy to play when the river is a brick: just keep betting. But what about when the river is an overcard? What about when the river is a King, and you can either check behind or bet again? Which play is higher EV?
In this video, we do some intermediate-level analysis comparing QQ on two different rivers. First, we explore exactly how often our opponent has hands that beat us. Then, we look at the check vs. bet analysis to see which play offers a higher EV. Finally, pay special attention to how things change as the inclusion of second-best hands gets added into their range.
Also note that villain's range is directly out of the GTO+ #poker solver. Against more exploitative ranges, our bet can be even more lucrative!

A 3 is not a perfect brick as that completes straight draws. IN FACT, the only non pair brick is a J here on the river

Dude putting a shove from villain on the K river and doing the EV on a call there would have been nice…

You can always explore that against a few different shoving ranges from villain =)

why isn't K8 suited in villain range?

My best guess is because they only check/called each bet. On the flop with top pair with 2nd kicker and/or backdoor flush draws I would expect to see check/raise instead, on a Th turn that brings in a flush draw I would expect Kh8h to check/raise and Kd8d to not be excited to call 13BB with 2nd pair/2nd kicker, but this is all off the top of my head so I can get to sleep without wondering about it, otherwise I would be at my computer investigating the why instead of sleeping. Obviously Kc8c and Ks8s can't be held by villain.
