    *Is BonChon authentic enough for our Korean friends?* 🤔 Did you know that BonChon is actually NOT a popular fast food chain in South Korea? While it had its beginnings in Busan, there are currently no branches in the country at all. In contrast, did you know that with 168 stores, the Philippines currently has the most branches of BonChon in the entire world? In case you missed it, this video was not sponsored by BonChon~ 🇰🇷💜🇵🇭 Hope you guys learned a thing or two about Korean food!

      Ohh nice information EL’s Planet I didn’t know that bon chon is originated in korea(busan)to exact. Anyways the girl(charm)beside augutine is very familiar to me. Is she the one who grew up in the PH and has a store in the PH!. I thought she returned in Korea for good but she’s back…nice to see her again…

    I'm not a fan of Bonchon (mainly because it's expensive for me) but I really liked it when they said it's not authentic then proceed to give most of dishes a good rating. Reminds of a tiktok I watched before where a Japanese chef (talking about sushi) said it doesn't need to be authentic, it just need to taste good.

    What I think about this product is that, they based the flavor for the Filipino taste? I mean, like Filipino restaurant in Korea, they actually also change some of the ingredients for the Filipino menu so that the Korean can also connect to it. This is only my own point of view.

    Nah. Only people who have no knowledge of Korean food and Filipino food, would assume it's authentic. As a Filipino, first taste of BonChon it was obviously not authentic. Also, the price, obviously locally sourced. Authentic foreign food will always cost more than fastfood chains. Not even Jollibee is an authentic Filipino food. ;P
    Lastly, BonChon isn't good anyway. If I want chicken fastfood in the Philippines, I'll choose between Jollibee, KFC, and Kenny Roger's. BonChon Philippines is 1000% a NO for me.

Do English-speaking Koreans such as the guests in the video get discriminated based on their accents and where they learned to speak the language? Just curious because there are Kdramas which portray such type of discrimination.

    Malay ba naman natin kung authentic o hindi, hindi naman tayo native sa korea. Bat ba ito issue? di ko alam ano relevance ng video na to sating mga Filipino. Hindi porket marami ssa pinoy na ay baliw na baliw na sa korean culture, eh lahat na lang about korea ay big deal. Hilig lang naman natin mag-TRY dahil dinadigest na ng karamihan ang KOREAN CULTURE, pero not me. Pero yung iba na fan na fan sa kpop o kdrama, o ano pang korean culture. Basta ang alam ko lang korean fast-food siya or koryano ang nagmamayari ng bonchon, hindi naman natin o ako, sinasabi na authentic na korean food siya kasi nga ''HINDI NGA TAYO MGA KORYANO O NATIVE SA KOREA'. Pag may iba o style sa pagluluto ng adobo, o para satin iba yung lasa ng adobo niya, sinasabhin ba natin ng "hindi yan filipino food!". Pero ito bonchon kung sinasabi chapchae, edi korean food siya. O lumabas yung founder ng bonchon sinabi "mga korean food ito" edi korean food yan. Dun sa authenticity ibang usapan naman yon. Simple lang naman yan eh. Big deal na lang lahat basta about korea. lol

    • @elsplanet
      @elsplanet  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Your first sentence answers why we made the video. “Malay ba naman natin kung authentic o hindi.” What’s wrong with asking Koreans to tell us which food tastes authentic or not? By your logic, edi dapat di natin pinapansin mga video ni Uncle Roger na rinoroast ang mga di authentic na fried rice! This is why we made Koreans try it.
      It’s also a relevant video for us Filipinos since as mentioned in the video, and in our pinned comment, Philippines has the most BonChon branches in the world. Even compared to USA where it became popular. ☺️
