    Please do a video of the unfolding and setting up I've always wondered how water tight these were and how they transformed when they opened up that's a pretty cool truck😮

    There's a lever on the inside by the AC box that opens and closes the front AC vent.

      Tell me this, how is this box mounted to the frame of the truck? Is it hard mounted with flange brackets or is it only hard mounted at one end, either the front or the rear and then uses spring mounts for the rest of the mounts? The trailer mounted version has hard flange mounts all the way down

    Just curious,other than the uber cool factor,why the 5 ton rather than say an rv trailer,or even an enclosed utility trailer ??

    • @Cabin_Dad
      @Cabin_Dad  21 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      A bunch of reasons:
      The square footage of 238 is really big.
      The rough roads up hear makes pulling a trailer hard
      The process was basically like getting a trailer with a free truck.
      And as pointed out - so awesome.

    A wise man once said "Firewood, done the right way, can warm you at least twice, perhaps more."

      @@Cabin_Dad Thank you for sharing your line of thought on splitting firewood. I've split wood in 85º heat of the summer. I remember how much I hated it. I could have been doing other things more appropriate to summer. That idea was brought to you by the same people who think everybody should be in an office at 6am... I like your idea better.
      My grandfather was the one who told me that wise man quote. I thought he was being sage or something. Now I think he was literally talking about firewood and doing it like you. 😉

    Sounds like it has a weak or dead cylinder!

      Do you have a spot in the video where I can hear what you hear going on? It would help me become a better mechanic. Much thanks.

      @@Cabin_Dad I first heard it at 22:06, again at 22:13 pulling the hill, again at 22:37 & coming through the gap at 23:03. I've been a truck mechanic & race car guy since the late 60 & have an ear for it. With it warmed up & running, crack the injector lines one at a time, that should zero you in to the weak one. If you then switch that injector with a known strong cylinder you'll know if it's an injector or a cylinder issue. Something that's probably never been done on that engine is an overhead & it would be well worth doing.

      @@nzsaltflatsracer8054 thank you so much. I can hear what you are talking about. Sounds like a miss. I’ll probably clean the injectors and fuel line / pumps first. Some one suggested running a quart or 2 of atf with a half tank of diesel as a try first - as long as it can’t hurt I’d probably do that first. Thoughts?

    • @nzsaltflatsracer8054
      @nzsaltflatsracer8054 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @@Cabin_Dad Some ATF is ok in mechanical diesels but it's not going to instantly solve anything, that's an old school method of "keeping" the fuel system clean but a good dose of Howes is much more efficient. Do what I suggested to diagnose the problem before putting a bunch more time on it that could possibly make the issue worse. It'll only take 5 minutes to crack the injectors. When you find the weak one, check the overhead on that cylinder before switching injectors.

    That thing does not sound happy, run down the tank or pump it down to about half a tank, dump in a gallon or two of atf and a gallon of good ol conventional sae30. Blitzkrieg that thing down the road like you stole it and the rings will reseat and clean up a fair bit. These engines were built to be beat so don't be gentle.

      @Cabin_Dad if they idle for long periods of time or don't get a good run in cycle, they tend to glaze. You can also turn the pump up a little. The steel soldiers forum has a wealth of info, up to and including scanned manuals for free. Take a look when you get a chance.
