One thing about capcut though - it absolutely crushes the quality into a low bit rate mess. PowerDirector and LumaFusion remain the kings of Video Editors on Android.
great comparison. I'm a lumafusion person but I cant ignore what CapCut offers for free..it certainly looks good enough for me to recommend it to ppl before mentioning Lumafusion. Main concern is the company Bytedance which owns TikTok. If the USA bans TikTok, will CapCut be left behind you reckon?
Thanks for showing LumaFusion, I picked it up to use on my tablet. I think I have the same feeling as you for phone though, a little scrunched (might try it with the pen). If not I've always got PowerDirector. I would have given Capcut a try, but being that it's from Bytedance, I'll probably skip for now. Thanks for the helpful overview!
What type of phone do you have if your phone is Samsung? You can use Samsung dex. I have a $80 monitor, though you might opt for a touch screen monitor so it's easier to use, but I just use my phone as the track pad, and it works great. Lumafusion, for me, is easier to use. The workflow is easier, so editing is faster, but not only that Lumafusion has effect layering and more blending modes and you can save you effect presets for use later. You can do some pretty complex stuff with lumafusion
I was a PowerDirector junkie, but the subscription model is annoying, and recently I've had HUGE problems with PD verifying my purchase through Google Play. When you're out in the field, poor data, the places you would MOST want to use a mobile editor, that's when it has the hardest time verifying your purchase, and it slaps ads and a watermark on your project. When that happens, the only way to fix it is to completely uninstall the app (losing your project files) and reinstall in good data coverage. Luma is a godsend for being a "purchase once" app, and buying it once is cheaper than a year of PD. I bought it for the iPhone YEARS ago, never had to spend another dime. Lastly, the project management is MILES better on Luma than PD. The only way to save a project and transfer to another device is over Google Drive, which again, in poor data, is miserable. Even at home on my fast wifi, if your project is more than a couple GB, it can take an hour or more to upload, download, and replace a project. There is no local transfer. LumaFusion saves a tidy little container file, and I can just connect a phone to a tablet over a cable, and manually transfer the container over. What takes PD an hour to do, I can do in minutes on LF. Like I said, I was a huge fan of PD. I geinuinely preferred it over KineMaster. Some of the plugins on PD are still better than LF. I'm switching to LF. It's no question. LF is the better platform. Supports more aggressive editing and project management, and it has a faster rendering engine than PD or KM. At the beta price of $20 it's a STEAL.
Hi Shane. I'm considering buying Surface Duo 2, but I can't understand one thing. There is a gap between the two displays if I set the image over all displays the small part of the picture is missing. Why I can't choose if a small part of the picture is missing or the picture follows between both displays? Or it could be set? Thanks Stepan
I'm a big fan of Luma Fusion. Awesome video editor that also has some awesome compositing features in it. Its pretty awesome what kind of productions you can create on it. And there al lots of youtubers that use their phone and Luma fusion to run their channel. Luma Fusion makes it a onestop shop. No PC needed. I've been using it since the first version on my iPad and iPhone before I had a Surface Duo 2. I'm super happy that I can now put my projects on my Surface Duo 2voort. One less app that connects me to iPad OS. Luma Fusion has no real competition on Android and they didn't have that on iPad OS until Davinci Resolve was announced. What is a pity is that the Android version of Luma Fusion houses the functionality of version 2.4 where on iPad OS and iOS they are already on version 3.x. There is a lot more that can be done with that.
Not sure how I missed this. Thanks for pointing me to it. Great video. I assume it also installs on the original Surface Duo? I would be purchasing both the Duo and LumaFusion and the Original Duo is much more affordable. I really appreciate the quick response. Thanks Shane for all you do!
I have been using LumaFusion for several years now, and I am very happy with it. And even has a developer who created a silicone overlay for my Magic Keyboard on my iPad that has shortcuts. However, CapCut is doing some incredible stuff lately, and I am almost going to switch over just because of how impressive CapCut is,
You can actually resize every part of LumaFusion and make the usable parts not hidden by the hinge 😊

Maybe I'm blind, but I've edited a ton of mobile videos on capcut and haven't noticed some huge drop in quality.
I've noticed that too, the quality does reduce yes
Yes, I tried it more than once. The video resolution becomes bad and the frame rate per second becomes bad.

Probably not

If u can, we need a review between surface duo 2 an xiamo fold mix 2 , thx adv
I'd love to, but I don't have the cash to buy the Fold outright to cover.
Would be cool if you revisit or share apps for Surface duo. Apps that you like or that are optimized.
What about Power Director? Lots of TH-camrs use it for editing.

Did they discontinue duo 2? Microsoft store doesn't have them anymore

Good luck trying to get a new one 😂 Been none available in the UK for a month 😢
The part of the image physically obscured by the hinge and gaps is not visible on Duo devices. There's no way to display it.

Should be exactly the same on Duo 1
For the algorithm. ✊
